Stamp Review Crew -- Sale-A-Bration Hop #2

Banner

Hello!  Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop featuring Sale-A-Bration items.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  With only a few days left of Sale-A-Bration, the Crew wanted to share a few more ideas to help you make the most of your Sale-A-Bration selection(s).  Enjoy the hop!

DelicateDahlias_SendingHeartfeltSympathy

The Stamp Review Crew is an international group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who gather for a blog hop the first, third, and (sometimes the fifth) Mondays of the month to review a single stamp set.  However, this time we are presenting ideas using items that you can earn for FREE these last few days of Sale-A-Bration. By the time you've traveled through the hop, you are sure to find a number of innovative ways to use all the great Sale-A-Bration items that are available.  So sit back, relax, and get ready to start pinning ideas to your Pinterest board!

To see the line up of artists for today's hop, click here.  I'm the first stop on the hop; however, if you've already joined the hop and are traveling forward, you've arrived from from Heidi's blog where you were presented with an amazing project to inspire your creativity.  If you're traveling backwards through the hop, you've seen Cindy's project and are ready to CASE! (Copy And Share Everything)

I guess it might seem a bit off-putting to start a blog hop with a Sympathy card, but that's where this card led me.  I think the soft colors project a comforting and loving feel.  Of course, any greeting would be great with this card.  I think this is one of those cards that you could make a bunch and then add the greeting and inside sentiment when you were ready to send it.

This project features two Sale-A-Bration products:  Delicate Dahlias stamp set and Beautifully Penned Designer Series Paper.

DelicateDahlias_SendingHeartfeltSympathy

This card begins with a panel of Beautifully Penned Designer Series Paper matted with a slighly larger panel of Basic Black cardstock.  A length of Basic Black Baker's Twine, from the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack, was wrapped around the panels a few times and tied into a bow near the lower left side of the panels.  The bottom edge of the wrapped twine is 1-1/2" above the bottom edge of the Designer Series Paper panel and the knot of the bow is 1" from the left side of the Designer Series Paper panel.  The panels were adhered at the center of the Blushing Bride card front.

The "Sending Heartfelt Sympathy" greeting was stamped on Basic White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and punched with the straight edge oval from the Double Oval punch.  The greeting was adhered at the center of a Basic Black scalloped oval punched from the Double Oval punch and adhered near the upper left corner of the Designer Series Paper panel with the top and left edges of the scalloped oval 1/4" from the top and left edges of the panel.

Now it's time to add some color!  On Basic White cardstock, stamp the following and then cut out with Paper Snips:

  • Using Blushing Bride ink, stamp the detailed dahlia image
  • Using Polished Pink ink, stamp the outline dahlia image over the detailed dahlia image
  • Using Fresh Freesia ink, stamp the detailed small flower image twice
  • Using Gorgeous Grape ink, stamp the outline small flower image over the detailed flower images
  • Using Mint Macaron ink, stamp the detailed three leaf image three times
  • Using Just Jade ink, stamp the outline three leaf image over the detailed three leaf images

Adhere the Blushing Bride/Polished Pink dahlia to the Designer Series Paper using Stampin' Dimensionals with the top edge of the flower 7/8" below the top edge of the Designer Series Paper and the right edge of the flower flush with the right edge of the Designer Series Paper.  Adhere the leaves slightly under the dahlia at the upper right corner, lower right corner, and center left of the dahlia.  Adhere the Fresh Freesia/Gorgeous Grape flowers using Stampin' Dimensionals just above the Baker's Twine bow and just below the wrapped twine in between the bow and the leaves.

DelicateDahlias_SendingHeartfeltSympathy_Inside

The detailed dahlia image was stamped three times along the edge of a Basic White panel using Blushing Bride ink:  along the top of the panel near the right corner, at the lower right corner, and along the lower half of the left side of the panel.  Note that all three of the flowers are stamped off the edge of the panel.  The outline dahlia image was stamped over the detailed dahlia images using Polished Pink ink.  The "Thinking of you with all my heart" sentiment, from the Peaceful Moments stamp set, was stamped at the upper center of the panel using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

The Basic White panel was matted with a slightly larger panel of Basic Black cardstock and the panels adhered at the center of the inside sentiment area of the card base.

DelicateDahlias_SendingHeartfeltSympathy_Envelope

Place a piece of scrap paper between the envelope flap and the body of a Medium Basic White Envelope.  The detailed dahlia image was stamped three times on the envelope flap using Blushing Bride ink:  along the top of the flap near the right corner, at the left side, and along the lower center.  Note that all three of the flowers are stamped off the edge of the flap.  The outline dahlia image was stamped over the detailed dahlia images using Polished Pink ink.

Card measurements and a supplies list are provided below my signature.

Bright Baubles -- Sending Joy

Hello!

Sale-A-Bration ends in just a few more days on September 30th; so I wanted to share another Christmas card using a couple of Sale-A-Bration items that you can earn for FREE with a qualifying purchase:  Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper and Be Dazzled 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper.  Each one of these great items requires a $50 USD merchandise purchase.

Nothing says Christmas like sparkle and shine and the Be Dazzled 6" x 6" Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper is just the ticket for adding bling to this Christmas card.

BrightBaubles_SendingJoy

This card begins with a panel of Peaceful Prints Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper matted with a slightly larger panel of Evening Evergreen cardstock.  The panels were adhered at the center of the Sahara Sand card front.  A strip of Be Dazzled 6" x 6" Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper was matted with a slightly wider strip of Real Red cardstock (with the top and bottom edges of the Designer Series Paper flush with the top and bottom edges of the cardstock) and adhered along the vertical center of the Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper Panel (with the top and bottom edges of the strips flush with the top and bottom edges of the Peaceful Prints panel).

A piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock was die cut using the solid round ornament die from the Delicate Baubles dies.  Adhesive Sheets were adhered to the back of two pieces of Real Red cardstock and the "Joy" detailed ornament die was used to die cut the Real Red cardstock.  The adhesive backing was removed from one of the detailed ornament die cuts and the detailed ornament die adhered directly on top of the second detailed ornament die.  The adhesive sheet was removed from the bottom of the stacked detailed ornament dies and the dies adhered at the center of the Evening Evergreen ornament die.  The die was adhered at the center of the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals placed on the right and left sides of the back of the ornament (so that the dimensionals rest only on the Peaceful Prints panel).  A bow of Real Red Sheer Ribbon was adhered at the top of the ornament using Mini Glue Dots.

The "Sending" greeting was stamped on Basic White cardstock using Real Red ink and matted with a slightly larger piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock.  The greeting was adhered above the ornament on the Be Dazzled strip using Mini Glue Dots with the top edge of the Evening Evergreen mat 1/4" below the top edge of the Be Dazzled strip.  The "To You & Yours" greeting was stamped on Basic White cardstock using Real Red ink and matted with a slightly larger piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock.  The greeing was adhered below the ornament on the Be Dazzled strip using Mini Glue Dots with the bottom edge of the Evening Evergreen mat 3/8" above the bottom edge of the Be Dazzled strip.

BrightBaubles_SendingJoy_Inside

A strip of the Be Dazzled 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper was adhered across a Basic White cardstock panel with the top edge of the strip 1-1/2" below the top edge of the panel and the right and left edges of the strip flush with the right and left edges of the panel.

A piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock was die cut using the solid round ornament die including the small insert to create a hanger opening at the top of the ornament.  A piece of Real Red cardstock was die cut using the bow with hanging thread die.  Two narrow strips of Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper were adhered across the ornament with the top edge of the upper strip 3/4" from the top (curved piece) of the ornament and the bottom edge of the lower piece 3/8" above the bottom center of the ornament.  Paper Snips were used to trim the strips along the edge of the ornament.  The bow with hanging thread was threaded through the ornament hanger at the top of the ornament and the ornament adhered at the upper center of the Basic White panel with the top of the ornament (curved piece) 3/8" below the top edge of the panel and centered between the right and left sides of the panel.  The thread of the ornament hanger was folded to the back of the panel and adhered in place.  The panel was adhered at the center of the inside sentiment area of the card base.

The "Wishing You A" and "Christmas" sentiments were stamped on narrow strips of Basic White cardstock using Real Red ink.  The "Merry & Bright" sentiment was stamped on a slightly wider strip of Basic White cardstock using Real Red ink.  The strips were adhered to the ornament with "Merry & Bright" across the center of the ornament, "Wishing You A" centered above "Merry & Bright", and "Christmas" centered below "Merry & Bright".

BrightBaubles_SendingJoy_Envelope

A piece of the Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper was adhered to the envelope flap of the Medium Basic White Envelope.  Paper Snips were used to trim away the excess paper using the edge of the envelope flap as a guide.

I'll be back in a few days with the Stamp Review Crew with a Blog Hop featuring a number of great ideas using Sale-A-Bration items.

Holly Jolly Wishes -- Jingle All The Way

Hi Everyone!

We are down to the last days of Sale-A-Bration and I wanted to share another quick card made using the Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper; one of the great items that you can earn for FREE with a $50 USD merchandise purchase.  But time is limited as Sale-A-Bration ends on September 30th.

When you have a lot of Christmas cards to make, an easy design with great visual impact is always a great option.  I think this card meets both criteria.

HollyJollyWishes_JingleAllTheWay

This card begins with a panel of Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper matted with a slightly larger panel of Basic Black cardstock.  The panels were adhered at the center of the Cherry Cobbler cardstock card front.

The "Jingle All The Way" greeting, from the Holly Jolly Wishes stamp set, was stamped at the vertical center of a piece of Basic White cardstock using Cherry Cobbler ink.  Strips of Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper were adhered to the Basic White cardstock above and below the stamped greeting.  The cardstock was die cut with the largest of the straight edge tags with notched top corners (2" x 3-7/8"), from the Tailor Made Tags dies, centering the greeting on the body of the tag.  A piece of Cherry Cobbler & Gold Metallic Ribbon was wrapped around the tag immediately below the stamped greeting with the ends of the ribbon adhered at the back of the tag.  The tag was adhered to the card front at a jaunty angle using Stampin' Dimensionals with the top of the tag pointing toward the upper left corner of the card front.  A piece of Cherry Cobbler & Gold Metallic Ribbon was tied into a bow and adhered at the top of the tag using Mini Glue Dots.

Three Cherry Cobbler Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels were adhered to the card front to create a visual triangle for the greeting on the tag.

HollyJollyWishes_JingleAllTheWay_Inside

The "Have A Holly Jolly Christmas" sentiment was stamped at the upper center of a panel of Basic White cardstock using Cherry Cobbler ink.  A strip of Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper was adhered across the horizontal center of a slightly wider strip of Basic Black cardstock with the right and left sides of the Designer Series Paper flush with the right and left sides of the Basic Black cardstock.  The strips were adhered along the bottom edge of the Basic White panel with the bottom edge of the Basic Black cardstock 1/8" above the bottom edge of the panel and the right and left edges of the strips flush with the right and left edges of the panel.  The panel was adhered at the center of the inside sentiment area of the card base.

HollyJollyWishes_JingleAllTheWay_Envelope

A piece of Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper was adhered to the envelope flap of a Medium Basic White Envelope.  Paper Snips were used to trim away the excess paper using the edge of the envelope flap as a guide.

As you can see, the great designs in the Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper carry the weight for this card.  The contrasting colors of the Buffalo Checks in the Garden Green print (with the trees) and in the Cherry Cobbler print (all over checks) certainly make the statement with some very small accents with Rhinestones and ribbon to draw the eye to the greeting on the tag.  When you are making a bunch of cards at one time, simple is always best.

In Your Words -- Stars Shine Down

Hello!

We're down to the final couple of weeks of Sale-A-Bration and I wanted to share a card that combines three Sale-A-Bration products that you can earn for FREE with a qualifying order:  the In Your Words Host stamp set, the Beautifully Penned Designer Series Paper, and the Be Dazzled 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper.

When I first saw the In Your Words Sale-A-Bration Host stamp set the sentiment that grabbed me by the heart was "Perhaps the stars are openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy" -- a simple message of comfort and hope.  In today's world, I think we can use all the messages of comfort and hope we can get.  This card was designed for a family member who had two significant losses in just a few days.

InYourWords_StarsShineDown

This card begins with a panel of doodle-lined patterned paper from the Beautifully Penned Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper matted with a slightly larger panel of Basic Black cardstock.  The panels were adhered at the center of the Thick Basic White card front. The "Perhaps the stars are openings..." sentiment was stamped on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The Basic White cardstock was matted with a slightly larger piece of Basic Black cardstock with the right and left edge of the Basic Black cardstock flush with the right and left edges of the Basic White cardstock and the Basic White cardstock centered between the top and bottom edges of the Basic Black cardstock.  The sentiment was adhered to the card front with the right edge of the sentiment flush with the right edge of the Thick Basic White card front and the bottom edge of the Basic Black edge of the sentiment 13/16" above the bottom edge of the Designer Series Paper panel.

The stars and swirls die from the Stitched Stars dies was used to die cut a piece of Be Dazzled 6" x 6" Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper.  The die cut outline was adhered across the Designer Series Paper panel using teeny tiny dots of Multipurpose Liquid adhesive.  One end of the die cut was placed above the top left corner of the sentiment with the opposite end at the upper right corner of the panel.  The 5 solid stars that came out of the die cut were adhered to the Designer Series Paper panel using teeny tiny dots of Multipurpose Liquid adhesive:  the largest in the upper left corner, the next largest in the area just below the die cut at the upper right corner, and the remaining 3 stars to create a visual triangle around the sentiment.

InYourWords_StarsShineDown_Inside

The "With Heartfelt Sympathy" sentiment was stamped at the upper center of the inside sentiment area of the card base using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  A strip of Beautifully Penned Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper was adhered below the sentiment with the right side of the strip flush with the right side of the card base and the bottom edge of the strip 3" above the bottom edge of the card base.

Three stars were die cut using single star dies from the Stitched Stars dies to create 1/4", 3/4", and 1-1/2" stars.  The stars were adhered at the left end of the paper strip using teeny tiny dots of Multipurpose Liquid adhesive.

A piece of Beautifully Penned Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper was adhered to the envelope flap of a Medium Basic White Envelope.  Paper Snips were used to trim away the excess paper using the edge of the envelope flap as a guide.

Textures & Frames -- Happy Birthday

Hi There!

We're down to the final couple of weeks of Sale-A-Bration and I wanted to share a card that combines three Sale-A-Bration products that you can earn for FREE with a qualifying order:  the Textures & Frames stamp set, the In Your Words Host stamp set, and the Beautifully Penned Designer Series Paper.

One of the great things about Designer Series Paper that is printed only in Black & White (or shades thereof) is that it begs you to add color.  That's just what I did with a doodle-dotted panel of the Beautifully Penned Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper.  As I mentioned before, this pack of paper features the background patterns from the Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper featured in the Annual Catalog--just without the colors.

Textures-Frames_HappyBirthday

This card begins with a panel of doodle-dotted patterned paper.

  • The solid circle image from the Textures & Frames Sale-A-Bration stamp set was inked with Polished Pink ink, stamped off on a scrap piece of paper, and inked onto the panel.  This process was repeated 4 more times in a random pattern across the panel.  Note that the circles might stamp off the edge of the panel.
  • The solid circle image was inked with Just Jade ink, stamped off on a scrap piece of paper, and inked onto the panel.  This process was repeated 4 more times in a random pattern across the panel.  Note that the circles might stamp off the edge of the panel and/or overlap a Polished Pink circle.
  • Finally, the solid circle image was inked with Misty Moonlight ink, stamped off on a scrap piece of paper, and inked onto the panel.  This process was repeated 5 more times in a random pattern across the panel.  Note that the circles might stamp off the edge of the panel and/or overlap a Polished Pink and/or Just Jade circle(s).
  • The panel was matted with a slightly larger mat of Basic Black cardstock
  • A piece of White Linen ribbon, from the Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack, was wrapped around the panels and tied into a bow at the left side of the panels.  The bottom edge of the ribbon is 1-1/4" above the bottom edge of the doodle-dotted patterned paper
  • The panels were adhered at the center of the Just Jade card front

The "Happy Birthday" image, from the In Your Words Host Sale-A-Bration stamp set, was stamped at the center of a piece of Basic White cardstock using Just Jade ink.  The rectangular outline image, from the Textures & Frames stamp set, was stamped around the greeting using Misty Moonlight ink.  The Basic White cardstock greeting was matted with a slightly larger piece of Basic Black cardstock and adhered to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The greeting is centered over the ribbon to the right of the bow with the right edge of the greeting mat 7/16" from the right edge of the patterned paper panel and the bottom edge of the greeting mat 7/8" above the bottom edge of the patterned paper panel.

Three large Rhinestone Basic Jewels were adhered to the patterned paper panel to create a visual triangle around the greeting.

Textures-Frames_HappyBirthday_Inside

I have the best of intentions; but more often than not, the birthday cards I send tend to arrive late.  I'm sure that I will be using this sentiment quite a lot.

The solid circle images were randomly stamped across the upper third of a Basic White panel:

  • Polished Pink ink was used to ink the circle image, stamped off on scrap paper and stamped on the panel.  The process was repeated two more times
  • Just Jade ink was used to ink the circle image, stamped off on a scrap paper, and stamped on the panel.  The process was repeated one more time
  • Misty Moonlight ink was used to ink the circle image, stamped off on a scrap paper, and stamped on the panel.  The process was repeated one more time
  • As with the patterned paper panel, the circles might stamp off the edge of the panel or overlap other circles
  • The panel was adhered at the center of the inside sentiment area of the card base

The "Your birthday came, your birthday went..." sentiment was stamped on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Misty Moonlight ink.  The Basic White cardstock was matted with a slightly larger piece of Basic Black cardstock and adhered at the upper center of the Basic White panel.

Textures-Frames_HappyBirthday_Envelope

A piece of the doodle-dotted patterned paper was adhered to the envelope flap of a Medium Basic White Envelope.  A piece of scrap paper was placed between the envelope flap and the body of the envelope and then the circle image was randomly stamped on the patterned paper using the same process used for the panel on the card front:  the Polished Pink circle is stamped 3 times, the Misty Moonlight circle is stamped 3 times, and the Just Jade circle is stamped 4 times.  Paper Snips were used to trim the excess paper from the envelope flap using the edge of the envelope flap as a guide.

If you look back through my blog posts, you'll see that I've used this card design quite often.  That's because it's simple, it's eye-catching, and it lends itself to making multiples in a short period of time.  You just add the greeting for the outside and the sentiment for the inside when you know what you need and you're ready to go!  With the holidays coming up, just think about how quick and easy it would be to make a stack of these cards as a gift for a friend or co-worker!
