G'day Fri'yay' Challenge -- Hello Spring

GdayFriYayChallengeBanner

Hi Everyone!

Today's post is a card designed for the G'day Fri'yay' Card Making Challenge.  These card challenges happen every couple of weeks and originates with a group of very talented Aussie Stampin' Up! Demonstrators.  I was honored to be asked to join them.  The posts for this challenge are supposed to go live at 8 pm AEST on the Thursday evening prior to the challenge date.  Because of the time difference between Eastern Standard Time in the USA and Eastern Standard Time in Australia, my post needs to go live at 6 am on the Thursday prior to the challenge date.  Thank goodness for Google and the time calculator or I never would have been able to figure it out.

It's currently Winter in Australia and they are looking forward to a warmer change in the weather; so the theme for the today's challenge is "Hello Spring".  I've been wanting to play with the Beautifully Penned Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper and decided that this card challenge was a great way to showcase one of the beautiful patterns in the paper pack.  This paper pack features the six background designs contained in the Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper in Black and White.  I chose one of the floral design papers to color with Stampin' Blends Markers to create a colorful Spring-like card.

This card begins with a panel of Beautifully Penned Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper colored with Stampin' Blends Markers:  Light & Dark Fresh Freesia, Light & Dark Pale Papaya, Light & Dark Polished Pink, and Dark Soft Succulent.  The panel was matted with a slightly larger panel of Basic Black cardstock.  A piece of Basic Black cardstock was punched with the Everyday Label punch and adhered to the Designer Series Paper panel with the right edge of the label 1/4" from the right edge of the Designer Series Paper and the bottom edge of the label 13/16" above the bottom edge of the Designer Series Paper panel.  A piece of Polished Pink Open Weave ribbon was wrapped around the panels and tied into a bow at the left side of the panels with the bottom edge of the ribbon 1-1/4" above the bottom edge of the Designer Series Paper panel.  The panels were adhered at the center of the Polished Pink card front.

The "hello there" greeting, from the Sweet Strawberry stamp set, was stamped on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Polished Pink ink.  The greeting was punched with the straight edge oval of the Double Oval punch.  A piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock was punched with the scalloped edge oval of the Double Oval punch.  The greeting oval was adhered at the center of the scalloped oval and adhered at the center of the Basic Black cardstock punched with the Everyday Label using Stampin' Dimensionals.

A strip of the reverse side of the floral design paper used for the card front was adhered across a Basic White cardstock panel with the bottom edge of the strip 1/2" above the bottom edge of the panel.  A grouping of the flowers used on the card front was colored with Stampin' Blends Markers--the same as used for the card front--and cut out with Paper Snips.  The flower grouping was adhered near the lower left corner of the panel.  The panel was adhered at the center of the inside sentiment area of the card base.

Another piece of the floral design paper was colored with the same Stampin' Blends Markers used for the card front and adhered to the envelope flap of the Medium Basic White Envelope.  Paper Snips were used to trim away the excess paper using the edge of the envelope flap as a guide.

I have to say that it's nice to take a break from making Christmas cards to make the card for this challenge.  I'll be back in a little bit with my regular Thursday post featuring another Christmas card made using the Holly Jolly Wishes stamp set and the Adorning Designs Decorative Masks.
