Tidings & Trimmings -- Noel

Hello!

Today's post features a bonus design that uses three leftover pieces of Designer Series Paper after completing the previous 13 cards that showcase four card designs using the Tidings of Christmas Suite.  This project was presented by Stampin' Up! a few weeks ago as a set of 14 cards that used six 6" x 6" pieces of Designer Series Paper, a piece of Basic White cardstock and assorted colors of cardstock for card bases (using the colors contained in the Designer Series Paper), a punch, and coordinating ribbon.  I took that project and stepped it up a bit.  To download an instruction sheet for the entire set of stepped up cards, click here.

As with anything Stampin' Up! does, there's a good reason for introducing this project to demonstrators.  A selection of Designer Series Paper from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog is 15% off through August 2nd:  Beauty of the Earth, Bloom Where You're Planted, Hand-Penned, In Good Taste, In The Wild, Pansy Petals, Sweet Symmetry, Tidings of Christmas, and You're A Peach.

The cardstock and ink colors used for this project use the colors included with the Tidings of Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper:  Basic White, Cherry Cobbler, Evening Evergreen, Sahara Sand, and Soft Succulent.

When Stampin' Up! presented this card design, the three leftover pieces of 3/4" x 3-1/2" Designer Series Paper were cut in half into six 3/4" x 1-3/4" pieces, arranged into two rows of three, and adhered at the center of the card front.  The greeting was stamped on cardstock, punched out and a piece of ribbon attached to one side of the punch to create a tag, and the tag adhered to the card front.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card3+

This card begins with a Cherry Cobbler card base with the card front embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.  A strip of Tidings of Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper was matted with a slightly larger strip of Soft Succulent cardstock with the left and right edges of the cardstock flush with the right and left edges of the Designer Series Paper.  A piece of Evening Evergreen Open Weave ribbon was wrapped around the strips and tied into a bow at the left side of the strips.  The strips were adhered across the center of the card front.

A piece of Sahara Sand cardstock was matted with a slightly larger piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock.  The six pieces of 3/4" x 1-3/4" Designer Series Paper were adhered to the Sahara Sand cardstock:  the first piece was adhered near the upper left corner of the Sahara Sand cardstock with the left and top edge of the Designer Series Paper 1/8" from the left and top edge of the cardstock; the second piece was adhered near the upper right corner of the Sahara Sand cardstock with the right and top edges of the Designer Series Paper 1/8" from the right and top edges of the cardstock; the third piece was adhered near the lower left corner of the Sahara Sand cardstock with the left and bottom edges of the Designer Series Paper 1/8" from the left and bottom edges of the cardstock; the fourth piece was adhered near the lower right corner of the Sahara Sand cardstock with the right and bottom edges of the Designer Series Paper 1/8" from the right and bottom edges of the cardstock; the fifth piece was adhered centered between the first and third piece with the right and left edges of the Designer Series Paper lined up with the right and left edges of the pieces above and below it; the sixth piece was adhered centered between the second and fourth piece with the right and left edges of the Designer Series Paper lined up with the right and left edges of the pieces above and below it.  The cardstock was adhered to the card front with the right edge 1/8" from the right edge of the card front and centered over the strips with ribbon using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The "Noel" image was stamped on Basic White cardstock using Evening Evergreen ink.  The image was punched with the "straight" edge oval of the Double Oval punch.  A piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock was punched with the scalloped edge oval of the Double Oval punch.  The Basic White greeting was adhered at the center of the Cherry Cobbler oval and adhered at the center of the six pieces of Designer Series Paper using Stampin' Dimensionals.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card3+_Inside

A narrow strip of Soft Succulent cardstock was adhered behind the top edge of a strip of Designer Series Paper.  The paper strips were adhered along the bottom edge of a panel of Basic White cardstock with the left, bottom, and right edges of the strips flush with the left, bottom, and right edges of the panel.  The "Wishing You A Joyful Christmas And Happy New Year" sentiment was stamped at the upper center of the panel using Evening Evergreen ink.  The panel was adhered at the center of the inside sentiment area of the card base.

A piece of Designer Series Paper was adhered to the envelope flap of the Medium Basic White Envelope.  Paper Snips were used to trim away the excess paper using the edge of the envelope flap as a guide.

The Designer Series Paper Sale ends on Monday, August 2nd.  I hope you'll take advantage of the opportunity to purchase some great paper at a 15% savings:  Beauty of the Earth, Bloom Where You're Planted, Hand-Penned, In Good Taste, In The Wild, Pansy Petals, Sweet Symmetry, Tidings of Christmas, and You're A Peach.

Tidings & Trimmings -- Merry & Bright

Hello!

Today's post is the fourth of a series of four posts that showcase four card designs using the Tidings of Christmas Suite.  This project was presented by Stampin' Up! a couple of weeks ago as a set of 14 cards that used six 6" x 6" pieces of Designer Series Paper, a piece of Basic White cardstock and assorted colors of cardstock for card bases (using the colors contained in the Designer Series Paper), a punch, and coordinating ribbon.

The cardstock and ink colors used for this project use the colors included with the Tidings of Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper:  Basic White, Cherry Cobbler, Evening Evergreen, Misty Moonlight, Sahara Sand, and Soft Succulent.

This is card design #4.  When Stampin' Up! presented this card design, one of the two large rectangles of Designer Series Paper was adhered to the card front, the second large rectangle was folded in half and cut into a heart, the heart was then cut into a smaller heart and the two hearts were adhered to the right of the first rectangle with the smaller heart nested inside the larger heart (reversing the paper to show both sides of the paper used for the heart), the greeting was stamped on cardstock, punched out and a piece of ribbon attached to one side of the punch to create a tag, and the tag adhered to the card front.  Three cards were made using this design.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card4-1

To begin, randomly stamp the filigree star image over the card front using Versamark ink.  Adhere a rectangle of Designer Series Paper at the center of a slightly larger mat of Sahara Sand cardstock and attach to the card front so that the left edge of the Sahara Sand mat is 3/8" from the left edge of the card front and the top and bottom edges of the Sahara Sand mat is 5/16" from the top and bottom edges of the card front.

Place both solid star dies (large and medium) from the Christmas Trimmings dies, the smaller die centered inside the larger die) on a rectangle of Designer Series Paper and die cut using the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.  Adhere the larger star to the card front with the left side of the star slightly overlapping the Designer Series Paper rectangle and mat.  Apply Stampin' Dimensionals at the center and Mini Stampin' Dimensionals at the points of the smaller die cut star and adhere at the open center of the larger star.  Note that the stars show one side of the paper for the large star and the reverse side for the smaller star.

Place a piece of tape or Washi tape over the "May Your Days Be" part of the "May Your Days Be Merry & Bright" greeting.  Ink the greeting with Evening Evergreen ink, remove the tape and then stamp the greeting on Basic White cardstock.  Punch the greeting with the Label Me Fancy punch and adhere to the Designer Series Paper rectangle with the left edge of the greeting label 1/8" from the left edge of the Designer Series Paper and the top edge of the greeting label 3/4" from the top edge of the Designer Series Paper rectangle using Stampin' Dimensionals.

A bow was created with Soft Succulent Open Weave ribbon and adhered below the greeting label using a rolled up Mini Glue Dot.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card4-1_Inside

The "Wishing You A Joyful Christmas And Happy New Year" sentiment was stamped at the upper center of a panel of Basic White cardstock using Evening Evergreen ink.  A narrow strip of cardstock was adhered behind the right edge of a strip of Designer Series Paper.  The strips were adhered along the left edge of the panel with the top, left, and bottom edges of the strips flush with the top, left, and bottom edges of the panel.  The panel was adhered at the center of the inside sentiment area of the card base.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card4-1_Envelope

A piece of Designer Series Paper was adhered to the envelope flap of the Medium Basic White Envelope.  Paper Snips were used to trim the excess paper away from the envelope flap using the edge of the envelope flap as a guide.

Card Measurements

Basic White:  2" x 3", 4" x 5-1/4"; Misty Moonlight:  5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored at 4-1/4" along the 8-1/2" length; Sahara Sand:  2-7/8" x 3-5/8", 3/8" x 4"; Tidings of Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper:  2 @ 2-3/4" x 3-1/2", 3/4" x 4", 2-1/4" x 6"; Soft Succulent Open Weave ribbon:  9"

The second card uses Soft Succulent for the card base and greeting label.  Evening Evergreen cardstock was used to mat the rectangle of Designer Series Paper.  Evening Evergreen Open Weave ribbon was used to create the bow below the greeting label.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card4-2

Card Measurements

Basic White:  4" x 5-1/4"; Evening Evergreen:  2-7/8" x 3-5/8", 3/8" x 4"; Soft Succulent:  5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored at 4-1/4" along the 8-1/2" length, 2" x 3"; Tidings of Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper:  2 @ 2-3/4" x 3-1/2", 3/4" x 4", 2-1/4" x 6"; Evening Evergreen Open Weave ribbon:  9"

The third card uses Cherry Cobbler for the card base.  Soft Succulent was used for the greeting label and mat for the rectangle of Designer Series Paper.  Evening Evergreen Open Weave ribbon was used to create the bow below the greeting label.  Note that the smaller star inside the larger star does not use the reverse of the piece of Designer Series Paper used for the larger star as the reverse of the paper for the larger star did not provide a significant contrast for the smaller star.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card4-3

Card Measurements

Basic White:  4" x 5-1/4"; Cherry Cobbler:  5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored at 4-1/4" along the 8-1/2" length; Soft Succulent:  2" x 3", 2-7/8" x 3-5/8", 3/8" x 4"; Tidings of Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper:  2 @ 2-34" x 3-1/2", 2" x 2" (smaller star), 3/4" x 4", 2-1/4" x 6"; Evening Evergreen Open Weave ribbon:  9"

Stampin' Up! set up these card designs for use with any set of Designer Series Paper.  I hope that you'll be inspired to take advantage of the great sale on Designer Series Paper (OR dig into your stash of paper) and make some cards!

Tidings & Trimmings -- It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

Hello!

Today's post is the third of a series of four posts that showcase four card designs using the Tidings of Christmas Suite.

The cardstock and ink colors used for this project use the colors included with the Tidings of Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper:  Basic White, Cherry Cobbler, Evening Evergreen, Misty Moonlight, Sahara Sand, and Soft Succulent.

This is card design #3.  When Stampin' Up! presented this card design, the two large rectangles of Designer Series Paper were adhered to the card front, the narrow strip of Designer Series Paper was adhered over the seam where the two large rectangles of Designer Series Paper meet in the middle of the card front, the greeting was stamped on a piece of cardstock and punched to create a tag, a piece of ribbon was attached to the tag, and the tag attached to the card front.  Three cards were made using this design.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card3-1

This card begins with a rectangle of Designer Series Paper adhered to a panel of Evening Evergreen cardstock with the top, left, and right edges of the Designer Series Paper 1/16" from the top, left, and right edges of the panel.  A second rectangle of Designer Series Paper was adhered to the panel of cardstock with the bottom, left, and right edges of the Designer Series Paper 1/16" from the bottom, left, and right edges of the panel.  A narrow strip of Designer Series Paper was adhered across the two rectangles of Designer Series Paper so that the right and left edges of the Designer Series Paper strip are flush with the right and left edges of the two rectangles of Designer Series Paper and centered over the area where the bottom of the top rectangle and top of the bottom rectangle meet on the panel.  The panel was adhered at the center of the Soft Succulent card front.

A piece of Evening Evergreen Chevron Weave ribbon was folded into a "Z" and adhered to the card front centered in between the right and left sides of the card front.

The "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year" greeting was stamped on Basic White cardstock using Evening Evergreen ink and punched with the Everyday Label punch.  The greeting label was adhered at the center of the card front (over the ribbon "Z") using Stampin' Dimensionals.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card3-1_Inside

The "Wishing You A Joyful Christmas And Happy New Year" sentiment was stamped at the upper center of a panel of Basic White cardstock using Cherry Cobbler ink.  The mistletoe branch image (but not the stem) was inked with Cherry Cobbler ink and stamped above the center of the sentiment using Cherry Cobbler ink.  The three leaf outline image was stamped to the left of the mistletoe branch with the end of the leaf stem at the bottom of the mistletoe branch.  The three leaf filler image was inked with Soft Succulent ink, stamped off on a piece of scrap paper, and stamped over the three leaf outline image.  The same process was repeated for the two leaf image and two leaf filler image on the right side of the mistletoe branch.

A narrow strip of Evening Evergreen cardstock was adhered behind the top edge of a strip of Designer Series Paper.  The strips were adhered along the bottom edge of the panel with the left, bottom, and right edges of the strips flush with the left, bottom, and right edges of the panel.  The panel was adhered at the center of the inside sentiment area of the card base.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card3-1_Envelope

A piece of Designer Series Paper was adhered to the envelope flap of the Medium Basic White Envelope.  Paper Snips were used to trim the excess Designer Series Paper away from the envelope flap using the edge of the envelope flap as a guide.

Card Measurements

Basic White:  2" x 3", 4" x 5-1/4"; Evening Evergreen:  3-5/8" x 5-1/8", 3/8" x 4"; Soft Succulent:  4-1/4" x 11" scored at 5-1/2" along the 11" length; Tidings of Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper:  2 @ 2-12" x 3-1/2", 3/4" x 3-1/2", 3/4" x 4", 2-1/4" x 6; Evening Evergreen Chevron Woven ribbon:  11"

Tidings & Trimmings -- May Your Days Be Merry & Bright

Hi There!

Today's post is the second of a series of four posts that showcase four card designs using the Tidings of Christmas Suite.  This project was presented by Stampin' Up! a little over a week ago as a set of 14 cards that used six 6" x 6" pieces of Designer Series Paper, a piece of Basic White cardstock and assorted colors of cardstock for card bases (using the colors contained in the Designer Series Paper), a punch, and coordinating ribbon.

The cardstock and ink colors used for this project use the colors included with the Tidings of Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper:  Basic White, Cherry Cobbler, Evening Evergreen, Misty Moonlight, Sahara Sand, and Soft Succulent.

This is card design #2.  When Stampin' Up! presented this card design, the three rectangles of Designer Series Paper were adhered to the card front, the greeting was stamped on a piece of cardstock and punched to create a tag, a piece of ribbon was attached to the tag, and the tag attached to the card front.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card2-1

The Evening Evergreen card front was embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.  The mistletoe branch image was randomly stamped across a strip of Cherry Cobbler cardstock using Cherry Cobbler ink.  The strip was adhered across the horizontal center of the card front.  The three rectangles of Designer Series Paper were adhered to the cardstock strip.

The "May Your Days Be Merry & Bright" greeting was stamped on Basic White cardstock and punched with the Essential Tag punch so that the narrow part of the tag is to the left of the greeting.  A 1/4" handheld circle punch was used to punch a hole at the narrow end of the tag.  Evening Evergreen Chevron Woven ribbon was threaded through the punched hole and tied off near the edge of the tag using Linen Thread.  The ends of the Linen Thread were trimmed close to the knot.  The tag was adhered at the center of the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card2-1_Inside

A narrow strip of Cherry Cobbler cardstock was adhered behind the top edge of a strip of Designer Series Paper.  The strips were adhered along the bottom edge of a panel of Basic White cardstock with the right, bottom, and left edges of the strips flush with the right, bottom, and left edges of the panel

The "Wishing You A Joyful Christmas And Happy New Year" sentiment was stamped near the upper center of the panel using Evening Evergreen ink.  The panel was adhered centered at the inside sentiment area of the card base.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card2-1_Envelope

A piece of Designer Series Paper was adhered to the envelope flap of the Medium Basic White Envelope.  Paper Snips were used to trim the excess paper away from the envelope flap using the edge of the envelope flap as a guide.

Card Measurements

Basic White:  2" x 3", 4" x 5-1/4"; Cherry Cobbler:  1" x 5-1/2", 3/8" x 5-1/4"; Evening Evergreen:  5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored at 4-1/4" along the 8-1/2" length; Tidings of Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper:  3 @ 1-3/4" x 2-1/2", 3/4" x 5-1/4", 2-1/4" x 6"; Evening Evergreen Chevron Weave ribbon:  5"; Linen Thread:  4"

Here's the same card design in the portrait orientation.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card2-3

The difference between the landscape and portrait orientation is the orientation of the cardstock strip and greeting tag.  The cardstock strip was adhered at the vertical center of the card front.  The greeting was stamped so that when it was aligned in the punch the narrow end of the tag is above the greeting.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card2-3_Inside-Envelope

The process for creating the inside and envelope of the card is the same.  The only difference is the measurements for the cardstock and Designer Series Paper strips adhered along the bottom of the Basic White panel.

Card Measurements

Basic White:  2" x 3", 4" x 5-1/4"; Cherry Cobbler:  4-1/4" x 11" scored at 5-1/2" along the 11" length; Evening Evergreen:  1" x 5-1/2", 3/8" x 4"; Tidings of Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper:  3 @ 1-3/4" x 2-1/2", 3/4" x 4", 2-1/4" x 6"; Evening Evergreen Chevron Woven ribbon:  5"; Linen Thread:  4"

Four cards were made using this card design:  two in the landscape orientation and two in the portrait orientation.  Here is a second card in the landscape orientation.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card2-2

Here is a second card in the portrait orientation.

Tidings & Trimmings -- Season's Greeetings

Hello!

Today's post is the first of a series of four posts that showcase four card designs using the Tidings of Christmas Suite.

This is card design #1.  When Stampin' Up! presented this card design, only the Designer Series Paper diamond of squares is used, the greeting was stamped on a piece of cardstock and punched to create a tag, a piece of ribbon was attached to the tag, and the tag attached to the card front.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card1-1

The diamond of 4 squares is actually 2 pieces of Designer Series Paper.  A slit is cut into both pieces of paper and the two pieces of paper joined by sliding into each other at the slit.  Adhesive is placed between the two pieces at opposite corners.  Then the paper is folded back to one edge on both sides of the slit to expose the opposite sides of the paper.

I added a mat for the diamond of 4 squares, embossed the card front using the pine boughs embossing folder from the Wintry 3D Embossing Folders, adhered a strip of Designer Series Paper along the left side of the card front (with an accent color of cardstock peeking out), and used the Christmas Trimmings dies for the cut stocking with the greeting.  Gold cord from the Simply Elegant Trim was tied in a bow under the stocking cuff.  A couple of branches of mistletoe was die cut and attached to the back of the stocking before adhering the stocking at the center of the diamond.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card1-1_Inside

A strip of Designer Series Paper, with an accent strip of cardstock peeking out, was adhered to the panel at the inside sentiment area of the card.  The sentiment was stamped at the upper center of the panel.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card1-1_Envelope

Designer Series Paper was adhered to the envelope flap of the Medium Basic White Envelope and Paper Snips were used to trim the excess using the envelope flap as a guide.

The Stampin' Up! project used this design to create three cards.  Here's the second card.  This time I used Sahara Sand for the card base.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card1-2

And here's the third card.  This card has a Cherry Cobbler card base.

TidingsTrimmings_P6W_Card1-3

The cardstock and ink colors used for this project use the colors included with the Tidings of Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper:  Basic White, Cherry Cobbler, Evening Evergreen, Misty Moonlight, Sahara Sand, and Soft Succulent.

Don't think that you need to make Christmas cards using this design.  Go dust off your stash of Designer Series Paper and make some cards!
