Peaceful Moments -- Thank You

Hi There!

In my last post, I shared a project that puts the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder front and center using a simple card design.  Today's post is another example -- this time using the Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder.

FriendsAreLikeSeashells_HappyBirthdayPeacefulMoments_HappyBirthday

When you compare and contrast the two card fronts, you'll note some interesting things:

  • Both cards feature an embossing folder; however the first card uses a 3D embossing folder so the design is more pronounced versus the second card with a regular embossing folder where the design is more subtle
  • Both cards used a paper with a shimmery surface.  The first card used Pearlescent Specialty Paper and the second uses Shimmery White cardstock
  • Both cards use a punch to display the greeting
  • Both cards use a ribbon to ground the greeting
  • Both cards use Rhinestones to create a visual triangle for the greeting
  • With the exception of the ribbons and greeting, the paper measurements for both cards are exactly the same

Needless to say, this type of card design is a quick way to create a card in a hurry.  In addition, if you need to create a stack of cards for a gift, this card design is wonderful with a stamp set, like the Peaceful Moments stamp set, that has a wonderful selection of greetings for the card front and beautifully phrased sentiments for the inside of the card.

PeacefulMoments_HappyBirthday

This card begins with a panel of Shimmery White cardstock embossed with the Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder.  The panel was matted with a slightly larger panel of Evening Evergreen cardstock.  A piece of Soft Succulent Open Weave ribbon was wrapped around the panels and tied into a bow near the left side of the embossed panel.  The bottom edge of the ribbon is 1-1/2" above the bottom edge of the embossed panel.  The panels were adhered at the center of the Soft Succulent card front.

The "Happy Birthday" greeting, from the Peaceful Moments stamp set, was stamped on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Evening Evergreen ink.  The greeting was punched with the oval punch of the Double Oval punch.  A piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock was punched with the scalloped oval punch of the Double Oval punch.  The greeting oval was adhered at the center of the scalloped oval and adhered over the ribbon to the right of the bow using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The right edge of the scalloped oval is 1/4" from the right side of the embossed panel.

Three Rhinestone Basic Jewels were colored with the brush tip of the Dark Soft Succulent Stampin' Blends Marker and adhered to the card front to create a visual triangle for the greeting.

PeacefulMoments_HappyBirthday_Inside

The "Wishing You Every Happiness This Special Day Will Bring" sentiment was stamped at the upper center of a panel of Basic White cardstock using Evening Evergreen ink.

A strip of Evening Evergreen cardstock was embossed with the Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder.  A narrow strip of Soft Succulent cardstock was adhered behind the top edge of the embossed cardstock and the two strips were adhered along the bottom edge of the Basic White panel with the right, bottom, and left edges of the two strips flush with the right, bottom, and left edges of the Basic White panel.  The Basic White panel was adhered at the center of the inside sentiment area of the card base.

The envelope flap of the Medium Basic White Envelope was embossed with the Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder.

Take a new look at your embossing folders and give them an opportunity to do more than sit in the background.

Friends Are Like Seashells -- Happy Birthday

Hello!

I love embossing folders.  They add so much texture and interest to a project.  Sometimes they play a subtle role in the background and other times they stand up front and center.  The great thing is that you get to decide.  For this week's posts, I'm putting two embossing folders front and center.

Today's post features the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder.  I used it in combination with the coordinating dies and stamps in my last post; however, this time I'm letting the folder do the talking all by itself with the assistance of some Pearlescent Specialty Paper.  I wish a photo could convey how scrumptious the Pearlescent Specialty Paper looks in real life--especially when you add in the amazing detail of the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder.

FriendsAreLikeSeashells_HappyBirthday

This card begins with a panel of Pearlescent Specialty Paper embossed with the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder and matted with a slightly larger panel of Gold Foil Sheets (adhered using Multipurpose Liquid adhesive).  The panels were adhered at the center of the Flirty Flamingo card front.

A piece of Fine Art Ribbon was folded in half with Mini Glue Dots placed at the fold.  The ribbon was adhered to the card front using Mini Glue Dots with the folded end of the ribbon extending slightly beyond the right edge of the Gold Foil Sheets and the tails of the ribbon pointing toward the left side of the panels.  The bottom edge of the ribbon at the fold end is 1-1/8" above the bottom edge of the embossed Pearlescent panel.

A strip of Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper was stamped with the "Happy Birthday to my beautiful friend" greeting, from the Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The ends of the strip were punched with the rounded end slot of the Treasured Tags Pick A Punch.  The greeting label was adhered over the ribbon using Mini Glue Dots with the right end of the label 1/4" from the fold of the ribbon.

Three Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels were adhered to the card front to create a visual triangle.

A panel of Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper was adhered at the center of the inside sentiment area of the card base.  The "Wishing You The Very Best" sentiment was stamped at the upper center of the panel using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  A panel of Pearlescent Specialty Paper was embossed with the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder.  The tulip shell, two scallop shells, and a grouping of sea grass was fussy cut with Paper Snips and adhered along the bottom edge of the panel using Multipurpose Liquid adhesive.

A piece of Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper was adhered to the envelope flap of a Medium Basic White Envelope.  Paper Snips were used to trim the excess paper using the envelope flap as a guide.

How easy was that card!!??!!  I love a simple card design.  You'll see this card design again with another embossing folder in my next blog post.  Until then, happy crafting!!

Friends Are Like Seashells

Hi There!

Today's post features another project created using elements from the Sand & Sea Product Suite from the January - June Mini Catalog:  Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set, Seaside Shells dies, Seashells 3D Embossing Folder, and Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper.

When Stampin' Up! first shared this product suite with Demonstrators last Fall, I was intrigued by the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder.  One of the things I have always found frustrating about seashell stamps is that no matter how detailed the image, they could never convey the amazing texture and dimensional detail of seashells.  I could do a good job replicating the colors, but not the dimensional feel.  With the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder, I can now see and feel the texture and dimension of the shells.  Oh, boy!   Needless to say, a photo cannot completely convey the awesomeness of this embossing folder.

This photo shows the tulip shell image (largest shell) stamped with Sahara Sand and the filler image with stamped off Blushing Bride.  Paper Snips were used to fussy cut the shell.

FriendsAreLikeSeashells_YouAreUnique_Inset

In this photo, the tulip shell was stamped as described above but was embossed with the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder prior to fussy cutting with Paper Snips.  You'll see the border around the shell is a bit larger because the embossing extends a bit beyond the stamped edge of the shell; so I followed the embossed edge.

FriendsAreLikeSeashells_Inset

It really makes a difference -- especially when you see it in real life!

FriendsAreLikeSeashells

This card begins with a panel of Old Olive cardstock die cut with the large background die from the Seaside Shells dies.  The die was adhered to a panel of Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper matted with a slightly larger panel of Blushing Bride cardstock.  Linen Thread was wrapped three times around the top area of the panels and dies with the ends adhered at the back of the panels.  Note that the Linen Thread was placed behind the die cut at the upper left corner to avoid the area where the tulip shell will be placed.

Starting at the top left and moving in a clockwise circle, the shells on the front of the card are:  tulip shell, small scallop shell, triton shell, large scallop shell, and conch shell.

All of the shells were stamped on Basic White cardstock using Sahara Sand ink.  Blushing Bride ink was used with filler image stamps to color the shells by inking the image, stamping off on a scrap piece of paper, and then stamping over the shell image:  the large rectangular filler image was used for the tulip shell, the small round filler image for the small scallop shell, the small rectangular filler image for the triton shell, the large round filler image for the large scallop shell, the small rectangular filler image (used repeatedly) for the conch shell.

Each stamped image was placed in the embossing folder, the stamped image lined up with the corresponding embossing area, and the embossing folder run through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.  Once the images were embossed, they were cut out with Paper Snips following the outside edge of the embossing.  The images were adhered on top of their corresponding place on the die cut.

The "Friends Are Like Seashells...You Collect Them Along The Way" greeting was stamped on Basic White cardstock using Misty Moonlight ink.  The greeting was die cut with the notched rectangular die from the Tasteful Labels dies.  The greeting label was adhered at the upper right corner of the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The top edge of the label is 1/4" from the top edge of the Designer Series Paper and the right edge of the label is 1/8" from the right edge of the Designer Series Paper.

FriendsAreLikeSeashells_Inside

The "Happy Birthday to my beautiful friend" sentiment was stamped at the upper center of a Basic White panel using Misty Moonlight ink.  Old Olive ink was used to stamp the sea grass images three or four times each -- at varying heights -- at the lower left corner of the panel.

The small and large scallop shells were stamped on Basic White cardstock using Sahara Sand ink, the small and large filler images inked with Blushing Bride ink (stamped off on a scrap piece of paper), embossed with the Seashells 3D embossing folder, and the shells fussy cut with Paper Snips.

The sand dollar image was inked with Sahara Sand ink, stamped off on a scrap piece of paper and stamped on a piece of Basic White cardstock.  The image was die cut with the corresponding die from the Seaside Shells dies.

The sand dollar and scallop shells were adhered at the lower left corner of the panel.  The panel was adhered at the center of the inside sentiment area of the card base.

A piece of Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper was adhered at the back of the Medium Basic White Envelope flap.  Paper Snips were used to trim away the excess paper using the edge of the envelope flap as a guide.

Today's project features a bundle that carried over from the Mini Catalog to the Annual Catalog WITH the Bundle pricing.  Woohoo!  However, when you look at this product suite in the Mini Catalog, you'll see the really awesome Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper and coordinating Seaside Shells die cuts -- unfortunately, these items DID NOT carry over.  I would hate for you to miss getting your hands on these products as they are just beautiful!
