Hello! Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop featuring the Sale-A-Bration offerings. Thanks so much for stopping by!
The Stamp Review Crew is an international group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who gather for a blog hop the first, third, and (sometimes the fifth) Mondays of the month to review a single stamp set. However, this time we are featuring the great stamp sets and Designer Series Papers available for FREE during Sale-A-Bration. Be aware that this year Sale-A-Bration ends on February 28th at 11:59 pm Mountain Time so you only have a few more days to make your choice(s). I know that this blog hop will give you some great ideas, so sit back, relax, and get ready to start pinning ideas to your Pinterest board!

If you've already joined the hop and are traveling forward, you've arrived from Cindy Elam's blog where you were presented with an amazing project to inspire your creativity. If you're traveling backwards through the hop, you've seen Bronwyn Eastley's projects and are ready to CASE! (Copy And Share Everything)
The Sale-A-Bration stamp set I've seen the most samples for is the Darling Donkeys stamp set. With so many ideas out there I had a hard time coming up with something that might inspire you. So I stamped a bunch of the donkeys, colored them with Stampin' Blends Markers, and picked out the one that "spoke" to me.
I just love the somewhat sheepish expression on this fellow's face.
This card begins with a piece Real Red striped background paper from the Playful Pets Designer Series Paper. The paper was matted with a slightly larger piece of Basic Black cardstock. A strip of Basic Black cardstock was adhered across the paper/Basic Black cardstock panel with the bottom edge of the strip 7/8" above the bottom edge of the Designer Series Paper. A piece of Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon was wrapped around the paper/Basic Black cardstock panel and Basic Black cardstock strip and tied into a bow on the front on the left side. The panel was adhered at the front center of the Real Red card base.
The sitting donkey was stamped on Thick Basic White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The donkey was colored with Light & Dark Crumb Cake Stampin' Blend Markers for the donkey's body and head, Ivory Stampin' Blend Marker for his nose and mouth, and Dark Soft Suede Stampin' Blend Marker for his tail tip, top of the ears, his fluff of mane at the top of his head, and his hoofs. The balloon image from the Approaching Perfection Sale-A-Bration stamp set was stamped three times using Memento Tuxedo Black ink so that the ends of the balloon strings "attach" near the tip of the donkey's tail. The outside balloons were colored with Dark Misty Moonlight and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blend Markers. The balloon part of the image was stamped on a piece of scrap Basic White cardstock, colored with Dark Real Red Stampin' Blend Marker and the balloon fussy cut with Paper Snips. The Thick Basic White cardstock was embossed with the rectangular die from the Stitched With Whimsy dies and matted with a slightly larger square of Real Red Cardstock. The red balloon was attached over the middle balloon using a Mini Stampin' Dimensional. The focal point was adhered to the card front with the top edge of the Real Red mat 1/4" below the top edge of the Designer Series Paper and the right and left edges of the Real Red mat 7/16" from the right and left edges of the Designer Series Paper.
The greeting comes from the Approaching Perfection stamp set. A piece of tape was used to cover "The good news is:..." part of the greeting, the stamp inked with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, the tape removed, and the greeting ("The bad news is: I forgot your birthday.") stamped on Basic White cardstock. The Basic White cardstock was matted with a slightly larger piece of Real Red cardstock and adhered to the right side of the Basic Black cardstock strip using Stampin' Dimensionals.
The kicking donkey was stamped at the upper right side of a panel of Basic White cardstock. The donkey was colored with Stampin' Blend Markers using the same colors used for the sitting donkey. The panel was adhered at the center of the inside sentiment area of the Real Red card base.
The plan for the sentiment was to stamp it on the Basic White panel where you see it now. Unfortunately, one of my doggies bumped my arm and it landed on the paper crooked. Rather than start the panel all over again, I stamped the sentiment on Basic White cardstock, matted it with a slightly larger piece of Real Red cardstock, and adhered it over the crooked one. If I hadn't told you, you'd never know about the goof; but I wanted to mention it because I see this problem pretty often in my classes and folks are always surprised at how easy this problem is to fix -- rather than discard the panel and start all over again.
With respect to stamping the sentiment, I repeated the process I used for the greeting on the front of the card. This time I put a piece of tape over the "The bad news is:..." part of the sentiment, inked the stamp with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, removed the tape, and stamped the sentiment on the Basic White cardstock.
A piece of the Playful Pets Designer Series Paper was adhered to the envelope flap of the Medium Basic White Envelope. Paper Snips were used to trim away the excess paper using the edges of the envelope flap as a guide. The "Happy Birthday!" greeting (Approaching Perfection) was stamped at the center of the envelope flap using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
I hope you've been inspired by the project I made using the Darling Donkeys and Approaching Perfection Sale-A-Bration stamp sets. Card measurements and supplies are listed below.
