Banner

Hello!  Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop featuring the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

The Stamp Review Crew is an international group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who gather for a blog hop the first, third, and (sometimes the fifth) Mondays of the month to review a single stamp set.  The number of participants varies from hop to hop, but the ideas are plentiful as we take a stamp set through its paces.  By the time you've traveled through the hop, you are sure to find a number of innovative ways to use the featured stamp set.  So sit back, relax, and get ready to start pinning ideas to your Pinterest board!

One thing I always look for in a new Stampin' Up! Catalog is new greeting stamp sets.  Finding the greeting that will fit with the theme or overall sentiment of a card and the right words to say inside the card is just as important as the stamps, ink, and paper used to construct the card.  When it all comes down to it, it's the words that make the difference.  So it's no surprise that I have as many greeting stamp sets as I have image stamp sets.  One of the most versatile stamp sets in the Annual Catalog is the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.  I really like that it has words and phrases that can be used for the greeting or for the sentiment inside the card.  Another nice thing about the words and phrases in this stamp set is that they fit into all the narrow label punches.

With so many options in this stamp set, it was hard to contain myself to just one sample.  So I made a stack of cards.  All of these cards use the Basic White Note Cards & Envelopes (the absolute best value in the Stampin' Up! Catalog!), Flowers For Every Season 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper, 2020-2022 In Color Cardstock, a few of the 2020-2022 In Color ribbons, Treasured Tags Pick A Punch, and Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Once I completed the cards, I realized that it would be nice to put them in a pretty box.  Did you know that the Note Cards & Envelopes just happen to fit inside the Mini Paper Pumpkin Box?

And now I have a cute gift for Mother's Day.

Stamp Review Crew -- Sale-A-Bration Bonus Hop 2

Banner

Hello!  Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop featuring the Sale-A-Bration offerings.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

The Stamp Review Crew is an international group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who gather for a blog hop the first, third, and (sometimes the fifth) Mondays of the month to review a single stamp set.  However, this time we are featuring the great stamp sets and Designer Series Papers available for FREE during Sale-A-Bration.  Be aware that this year Sale-A-Bration ends on February 28th at 11:59 pm Mountain Time so you only have a few more days to make your choice(s).  I know that this blog hop will give you some great ideas, so sit back, relax, and get ready to start pinning ideas to your Pinterest board!

To see the line up of artists for this week's hop, click here.  If you've already joined the hop and are traveling forward, you've arrived from Cindy Elam's blog where you were presented with an amazing project to inspire your creativity.  If you're traveling backwards through the hop, you've seen Bronwyn Eastley's projects and are ready to CASE! (Copy And Share Everything)

The Sale-A-Bration stamp set I've seen the most samples for is the Darling Donkeys stamp set.  With so many ideas out there I had a hard time coming up with something that might inspire you.  So I stamped a bunch of the donkeys, colored them with Stampin' Blends Markers, and picked out the one that "spoke" to me.

I just love the somewhat sheepish expression on this fellow's face.

DarlingDonkeys_ApproachingPerfection

This card begins with a piece Real Red striped background paper from the Playful Pets Designer Series Paper.  The paper was matted with a slightly larger piece of Basic Black cardstock.  A strip of Basic Black cardstock was adhered across the paper/Basic Black cardstock panel with the bottom edge of the strip 7/8" above the bottom edge of the Designer Series Paper.  A piece of Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon was wrapped around the paper/Basic Black cardstock panel and Basic Black cardstock strip and tied into a bow on the front on the left side.  The panel was adhered at the front center of the Real Red card base.

The sitting donkey was stamped on Thick Basic White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The donkey was colored with Light & Dark Crumb Cake Stampin' Blend Markers for the donkey's body and head, Ivory Stampin' Blend Marker for his nose and mouth, and Dark Soft Suede Stampin' Blend Marker for his tail tip, top of the ears, his fluff of mane at the top of his head, and his hoofs.  The balloon image from the Approaching Perfection Sale-A-Bration stamp set was stamped three times using Memento Tuxedo Black ink so that the ends of the balloon strings "attach" near the tip of the donkey's tail.  The outside balloons were colored with Dark Misty Moonlight and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blend Markers.  The balloon part of the image was stamped on a piece of scrap Basic White cardstock, colored with Dark Real Red Stampin' Blend Marker and the balloon fussy cut with Paper Snips.  The Thick Basic White cardstock was embossed with the rectangular die from the Stitched With Whimsy dies and matted with a slightly larger square of Real Red Cardstock.  The red balloon was attached over the middle balloon using a Mini Stampin' Dimensional.  The focal point was adhered to the card front with the top edge of the Real Red mat 1/4" below the top edge of the Designer Series Paper and the right and left edges of the Real Red mat 7/16" from the right and left edges of the Designer Series Paper.

The greeting comes from the Approaching Perfection stamp set.  A piece of tape was used to cover "The good news is:..." part of the greeting, the stamp inked with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, the tape removed, and the greeting ("The bad news is:  I forgot your birthday.") stamped on Basic White cardstock.  The Basic White cardstock was matted with a slightly larger piece of Real Red cardstock and adhered to the right side of the Basic Black cardstock strip using Stampin' Dimensionals.

DarlingDonkeys_ApproachingPerfection_Inside

The kicking donkey was stamped at the upper right side of a panel of Basic White cardstock.  The donkey was colored with Stampin' Blend Markers using the same colors used for the sitting donkey.  The panel was adhered at the center of the inside sentiment area of the Real Red card base.

The plan for the sentiment was to stamp it on the Basic White panel where you see it now.  Unfortunately, one of my doggies bumped my arm and it landed on the paper crooked.  Rather than start the panel all over again, I stamped the sentiment on Basic White cardstock, matted it with a slightly larger piece of Real Red cardstock, and adhered it over the crooked one.  If I hadn't told you, you'd never know about the goof; but I wanted to mention it because I see this problem pretty often in my classes and folks are always surprised at how easy this problem is to fix -- rather than discard the panel and start all over again.

With respect to stamping the sentiment, I repeated the process I used for the greeting on the front of the card.  This time I put a piece of tape over the "The bad news is:..." part of the sentiment, inked the stamp with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, removed the tape, and stamped the sentiment on the Basic White cardstock.

DarlingDonkeys_ApproachingPerfection_Envelope

A piece of the Playful Pets Designer Series Paper was adhered to the envelope flap of the Medium Basic White Envelope.  Paper Snips were used to trim away the excess paper using the edges of the envelope flap as a guide.  The "Happy Birthday!" greeting (Approaching Perfection) was stamped at the center of the envelope flap using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I hope you've been inspired by the project I made using the Darling Donkeys and Approaching Perfection Sale-A-Bration stamp sets.  Card measurements and supplies are listed below.  To continue with the hop, click here to see what Bronwyn has in store for you at her blog.  OR if you are traveling backwards through the hop, then click here to see Cindy's project.

Sweet Strawberry -- That Was So Sweet Of You

Hello!

I've been itching to make another card using the Sweet Strawberry Bundle and the Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper (a Sale-A-Bration bundle with the Berry Blessings stamp set).  I just love all the paper designs, but the strawberries are just the cutest!  Every time I hear or think or say the word "strawberry" I think of my nephew Patrick.  He had an issue with his tongue when he was just learning to speak and had a hard time with the letter "r".  I went to visit him and we were looking at a picture book I had given him and naming the pictures.  When he came to the strawberry he could only say "twababy".  I can still hear him say it.  It was just so darn cute; and of course, so was he!

SweetStrawberry_BerryDelightfulDSP

This card begins with strips of strawberry patterned paper matted with strips of Real Red cardstock with the top and bottom edges of the Designer Series Paper flush with the top and bottom edges of the cardstock.  The strips were adhered, vertically, to the Granny Apple Green card front -- adhering the outside strips first and then the middle strip.  Two pieces of Garden Green cardstock were die cut using the stitched mini banner.  The banners were adhered to the card front with the banner tails facing the right and left sides of the card front and the bottom edges of the banners 1-1/4" from the bottom edge of the paper/cardstock strips.

A piece of Basic White cardstock was die cut with the 2-1/4" x 3-5/16" curved ends label.  The strawberry blossom image was stamped at the right side of the die cut using Granny Apple Green ink.  The leaves were colored with Light and Dark Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blend Markers and the blossoms colored with Light and Dark Petal Pink Stampin' Blend Markers.  The blossoms part of the image was stamped again on a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock, the blossoms colored with the Stampin' Blend Markers, and the two full faced blossoms fussy cut using Paper Snips.  The flower petals were curled up a bit with the bone folder and the blossoms adhered over their corresponding blossoms on the label using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.  The "That Was So Sweet Of You" greeting was stamped to the right of the blossoms using Real Red ink.

Gold Cord from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack was looped in the area between the banner tails and adhered to the card front with Stampin' Seal placed between the banner tails.  The label was adhered over the banner tails and gold cord using Stampin' Dimensionals.

SweetStrawberry_BerryDelightfulDSP_Inside

The strawberry outline image was stamped on Basic White cardstock using Real Red ink.  The strawberry shadow image was inked with Real Red ink, stamped off on a scrap piece of paper and then stamped within the outline image.  The process was repeated for a second strawberry.  The strawberries were punched with the Strawberry Builder punch.  The strawberry top leaf outline image was stamped on Basic White cardstock using Granny Apple Green ink.  The top leaf shadow image was inked with Granny Apple Green ink and stamped within the outline image.  The top leaves were punched with the Strawberry Builder punch.  The top leaves were adhered at the top of each strawberry.  The leaf areas of the strawberry blossom image were stamped on Basic White cardstock using Granny Apple Green ink, colored with Light and Dark Stampin' Blend Markers, and fussy cut with Paper Snips.  The blossom leaves and strawberries were adhered at the top right corner of a Basic White panel.  The "Thank You" sentiment was stamped to the right of the lower strawberry using Granny Apple Green ink.  The Basic White panel was adhered at the center of the inside sentiment area of the card base.

A piece of strawberry-patterned Designer Series Paper was adhered to the envelope flap of the Medium Basic White Envelope.  Paper Snips were used to trim the excess Designer Series Paper using the edge of the envelope flap as a guide.

Ornate Thanks -- Gift Boxed Greetings

Hi There!

I was going through my box of Sale-A-Bration items to determine which items still needed some love and realized I had not used the Flower & Field Designer Series Paper.  I just love the vivid colors in this paper!  Then I looked through my Annual Catalog items that still needed some love and came across the Ornate Thanks stamp set with the Ornate Frames dies.  Oh, the possibilities!!

So I made a card...

OrnateThanks_ThanksEverSoMuch

And another card...

OrnateThanks_YourKindness

And another card...

OrnateThanks_ThankYouFromTheBottom

And one more card.

OrnateThanks_SoGrateful

So why not make the gift box, too?

OrnateThanks_FlowerField_BoxFront

As you can see, the paper makes an amazing backdrop for the framed greeting focal points.

Do you have someone you need to say "Thank You" to?  These simple designs will help you make stacks of cards in no time at all!  You can download the instructions, measurements, and supply list for these cards and the gift box when you click here.

Sale-A-Bration -- A Touch of Ink (Hummingbird)

Hi There!

I hope you had a great weekend!  Today's post features the A Touch of Ink and Heal Your Heart stamp sets and the Oh So Ombre 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper -- all available during Sale-A-Bration.  On Friday, I discussed a card made with the A Touch of Ink stamp set using the two-step stamping feature of the stamp set.  This time I colored the images with Stampin' Blends Markers.

TouchOfInk_SoSorry

A Blending Brush was used to add Rococco Rose ink at the center of a panel of Basic White cardstock.  Then the cardstock was embossed with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder and the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.  The Basic White cardstock was adhered to a panel of Basic Black cardstock with the right and bottom edges of the Basic White cardstock 1/16" from the right and bottom edges of the Basic Black cardstock and leaving a 1/4" border of Basic Black on the top and left sides of the Basic White panel.  The panels were adhered at the center of the Rococco Rose card front.

The flower and hummingbird outline images were stamped on Basic White cardstock and colored with Stampin' Blends Markers:

  • Hummingbird:  Light Bermuda Bay, Dark Pool Party, Light Pretty Peacock
  • Flower:  Light Blackberry Bliss, Light Rich Razzleberry,  Dark Mango Melody, Dark Just Jade

Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush was used to cover the colored hummingbird to add some sparkle and shimmer.  The flower image was fussy cut with Paper Snips and adhered near the lower left side of the Basic White panel.  The top flower area of the flower outline image was stamped on a piece of Basic White cardstock and colored with the same Stampin' Blends Markers as used for the first flower.  The left and lower flower of the top grouping of three flowers was fussy cut using Paper Snips and adhered over the same area of the flower adhered to the Basic White panel using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The hummingbird was fussy cut using Paper Snips and adhered above the flower image with the beak of the hummingbird pointing toward the center of the top flower.

The "sorry for your loss" greeting from the Heal Your Heart stamp set was stamped on a strip of Bermuda Bay solid paper from the Oh So Ombre 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper.  Strips of Rococco Rose and Blackberry Bliss solid paper were adhered behind the Bermuda Bay strip.  The paper strips were adhered to the Basic White panel with the right edge of the paper strips flush with the right side of the Basic White panel and the bottom edge of the Blackberry Bliss paper 3/8" above the bottom edge of the Basic White panel.

TouchOfInk_SoSorry_Inside

The flower outline image was stamped at the lower left corner of a panel of Basic White cardstock.  The flower was colored with the same colors used for the card front.  Bermuda Bay, Rococco Rose, and Blackberry Bliss paper strips were adhered at the base of the flower image with the left edges of the paper strips flush with the Basic White panel and the bottom edge of the Blackberry Bliss strip 1/16" above the bottom edge of the Basic White panel.  The Basic White panel was adhered at the center of the inside sentiment area of the card base.

A Blending Brush was used to apply Rococco Rose ink at the upper center of the Basic White panel.  The "Wishing I could heal your heart" sentiment, from the Heal Your Heart stamp set, was stamped at the upper center of the panel using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

TouchOfInk_SoSorry_Envelope

A scrap piece of cardstock was inserted into the lower left corner of the Medium Basic White Envelope (this is done so that the Stampin' Blends Markers used to color the flower will not bleed to the back of the envelope).  The flower outline image was stamped at the lower left front corner of the envelope.  A Blending Brush was used to apply Rococco Rose ink over the stamped image.  Stampin' Blend Markers were used to color the flower image with the same colors used for all flowers on the card front and inside the card.  The scrap of cardstock was removed from the inside of the envelope.

I really love using the Blending Brushes to create soft backgrounds behind images.  The Blending Brushes are so much easier to manage than sponges and I find I'm less likely to have those pounce and fingernail marks that were pretty common when I used the sponges.  If you haven't tried them yet, these brushes are made of many thousands of very fine and soft bristles so that they flow over the paper very smoothly.  You don't need to have a brush for every color, you just pounce and brush the bristles over a scrap piece of paper until the brush is clean before moving to the next color.  OR you can rinse the brush with clear water for dye inks and a little mild soap for pigment inks, rinse until the water is clear, blot the bristles to remove the excess water, and let dry overnite.  Dark ink colors will stain the brushes, but those stains won't transfer once the brush has been cleaned.
