Stamp Review Crew -- Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper (Sale-A-Bration)

Stamp Review Crew blog banner

Hello!  Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop featuring items from the Sale-A-Bration brochure.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

The Stamp Review Crew is an international group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who gather for a blog hop the first, third, and (sometimes the fifth) Mondays of the month to review a single stamp set.  The number of participants varies from hop to hop, but the ideas are plentiful as we take a stamp set through its paces.  By the time you've traveled through the hop, you are sure to find a number of innovative ways to use the featured stamp set.  So sit back, relax, and get ready to start pinning ideas to your Pinterest board!

To see the line up of artists for this week's hop, click here.  If you've already joined the hop and are traveling forward, you've arrived from Debra's blog where you were presented with an amazing project to inspire your creativity.  If you're traveling backwards through the hop, you've seen Betty's project and are ready to CASE! (Copy And Share Everything)

My favorite part of the Stampin' Up! year is Sale-A-Bration.  That's because you can earn great stuff for FREE!  My post will feature two projects using the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper.  This truly lovely Designer Series Paper Pack features colored images on one side of the paper and black and white designs on the opposite side.  Some of the papers feature black and white and colored images that can be punched out with the Butterfly Duet punch available in the 2019 Occasions Catalog (but as of the publication date of this post is, unfortunately, on back order).

My first project features a covered mini composition book.  I love these little notebooks for quick gifts for any occasion.  You can see the back and front design of one of the pieces of the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper on this project.  I love the colors used for this paper:  Balmy Blue, Daffodil Delight, Grapefruit Grove, Highland Heather, and Lemon Lime Twist.

AmazingLife_YouAreAmazing_Notebook

Mini composition books have a black paper over the spine of the notebook.  The black and white pattern was adhered to the spine of the mini composition book with Multi-Purpose Liquid adhesive first applied to the front, then the paper finger folded over the two edges of the spine, and then adhered to the back of the spine.  It's important to keep smoothing the paper over the spine until the adhesive takes hold.  Multi-Purpose Liquid adhesive was placed on the back of the colored side of the paper and then placed over the front cover of the mini composition book with the right edge of the paper flush with the right edge of the notebook and centered between the top and bottom edges of the notebook.  The same process was used to adhere the paper to the back cover of the notebook.  Paper Snips were used to trim the edges of the paper to the edges of the notebook.

Old Olive Linen Thread and Basic Black Solid Baker's Twine were wrapped around the front cover of the notebook and tied in a knot on the upper front cover over the seam between the two pieces of paper.

The "You Are Amazing!" sentiment, from the Amazing Life stamp set, was stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The Classic Label punch was used to punch out the sentiment.  The sentiment was adhered to two pieces of Grapefruit Grove cardstock punched with the Classic Label punch.  One of the colored labels were adhered slightly above the Whisper White and the other slightly below the Whisper White.  The sentiment was adhered to the upper center of the notebook cover using Multi-Purpose Liquid adhesive.

Project Measurements --

Grapefruit Grove:  2" x 3"; Whisper White:  1" x 3"; Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper:  1-5/8" x 4-5/8", 2 @ 2-7/8" x 4-5/8"; Basic Black Solid Baker's Twine:  12"; Old Olive Linen Thread:  12"

Supplies I used to make this project --

Stamps:  Amazing Life; Inks:  Memento Tuxedo Black; Cardstock:  Grapefruit Grove, Whisper White; Designer Series Paper:  Botanical Butterfly (Sale-A-Bration); Embellishments:  Basic Black Solid Baker's Twine, Old Olive Linen Thread; Adhesives:  Liquid Multi-purpose; Tools:  Stampin' Trimmer, Bone Folder, Paper Snips, Classic Label punch; Other:  Mini Composition Book

My second project is a Get Well card that uses both sides of another piece of the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper.  The black and white side features pencil sketched butterflies and flowers and the colored side features multi-colored small butterflies on a Daffodil Delight background.

IttyBittyGreetings_ImHereForYou

This card begins with the black and white side as the focal point by coloring in one of the pencil sketched butterflies using Watercolor Pencils (Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay).  The paper was matted with a slightly larger piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock and adhered to the Basic Black card front.

The "I'm here for you" sentiment, from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set, was stamped on a strip of Whisper White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink with a banner tail cut into the left end of the cardstock.  The banner was adhered to a slightly larger banner of Basic Black cardstock with the right edges flush.  A piece of Daffodil Delight Double-Stitched ribbon was folded over and adhered near the right edge of the banner.  Then the banner was adhered to the card front with the bottom edge of the banner 1-3/8" above the bottom edge of the Designer Series Paper.

Three of the small butterflies were cut out from the colored side of the Designer Series Paper using Paper Snips (two Daffodil Delight and one Grapefruit Grove).  The Grapefruit Grove butterfly was adhered to the left of the sentiment using a rolled up Mini Glue Dot placed on the center back of the butterfly.  One of the Daffodil Delight butterflies was adhered (rolled up Mini Glue Dot) at the center of a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock punched with the 3/4" circle punch and adhered slightly above the right end of the sentiment banner.  The remaining Daffodil Delight butterfly was adhered (rolled up Mini Glue Dot) at the center of a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock punched with the 3/4" circle punch and adhered slightly below the left end of the sentiment banner.

IttyBittyGreetings_ImHereForYou_Liner

The inside sentiment area was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock matted with a slightly larger piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock.  The "hope you're feeling better" sentiment, from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set, was stamped at the upper center of the Whisper White liner using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Three more butterflies were cut out from the colored side of the paper using Paper Snips (2 Daffodil Delight and 1 Grapefruit Grove).  The first Daffodil Delight butterfly was adhered near the upper left corner of the Whisper White liner using a rolled up Mini Glue Dot behind the center back of the butterfly.  The second Daffodil Delight butterfly was adhered near the lower left corner of the liner using a rolled up Mini Glue Dot behind the center back of the butterfly.  The Grapefruit Grove butterfly was adhered near the right side of the sentiment using a rolled up Mini Glue Dot behind the center back of the butterfly.

IttyBittyGreetings_ImHereForYou_Envelope

The black and white side of the paper was adhered to the flap of a Medium Whisper White Envelope with the paper trimmed to match the flap of the envelope using Paper Snips.  The sketched butterfly was colored with Watercolor Pencils (Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie).

Card Measurements --

Basic Black:  4-1/4" x 11" scored at 5-1/2" along the 11" length, 5/8" x 3-1/8"; Bermuda Bay:  1" x 3"; Calypso Coral:  1" x 3"; Daffodil Delight:  3-7/8" x 5-1/8", 4" x 5-1/4"; Whisper White:  1/2" x 3", 4" x 5-1/4"; Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper (Sale-A-Bration):  3-3/4" x 5", 2" x 5", 2-1/4" x 6; Daffodil Delight Double-Stitched Ribbon:  4"

Inky Friends Design Challenge #14 -- Bloom By Bloom

Hi There!

Welcome to Inky Friends Design Challenge #14.  Every 4th Friday of the month a new design challenge is posted.  This time around we are working with a design sketch from the 2019 Occasions Catalog on page 3.

SketchChallenge_14

One of the neat perks of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is that you can attend demonstrator-only events hosted by Stampin' Up!  The most recent event was held in the first part of November, called On Stage Live in Orlando, Florida to celebrate Stampin' Up!'s 30th year.  At the event, we were introduced to the 2019 Occasions Catalog and were able to get our hands on some of the new product.  One of the make and takes featured the Bloom By Bloom stamp set.  I have to say that when I saw it in the catalog, I wasn't all that interested because I have so many floral stamp sets already and had earmarked two floral stamp sets from the Occasions Catalog.  Well, that plan went out the window and I ended up ordering the Bloom By Bloom stamp set, too.  I think it's the perfect stamp set for this sketch challenge.

BloomByBloom_SoHappy

This card begins with a Balmy Blue card base with the multi-petal round flower image randomly stamped over the card front using Balmy Blue ink.  [Tip:  The Bloom By Bloom and Amazing Life stamp sets used for this card are both Photopolymer stamp sets.  For best stamping results, place the Stampin' Pierce Mat below the cardstock.]  A panel of Whisper White cardstock was stamped with the "So happy to have you in my life" greeting from the Amazing Life stamp set (one of the stamp sets we received at On Stage) using Night of Navy ink.  The "happy" was colored with the Light Night of Navy Stampin' Blends marker.  The tiny 6-petal round flower, 7-petal spiked flower, and three dots images were randomly stamped around the sentiment using So Saffron, Petal Pink, and Highland Heather inks, respectively.  The multi-petal round flower image was stamped across the top edge of the panel using Highland Heather, Petal Pink, and So Saffron inks (from left to right).  A piece of Balmy Blue ribbon from the Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack (A FREE Sale-A-Bration item.  Unfortunately, as of the date of this blog post the item is temporarily unavailable due to the large demand.  Look for this item to become available again in early March.) was wrapped around the the panel and knotted slightly above and to the left of the "So" in the stamped sentiment.  A banner tail was cut at the bottom edge of the panel using Paper Snips.  The panel was adhered to the card front with the top edge of the panel 1/2" below the top edge of the card front and the right edge of the panel 7/16" from the right edge of the card front.

The multi-petal round flower was stamped on scraps of Whisper White cardstock:  3 times using Highland Heather ink, 3 times using So Saffron ink, and two times using Petal Pink ink.  The small leaf image was stamped on scraps of Whisper White cardstock 3 times using Pear Pizzazz ink.  All of these images were cut out with Paper Snips.  [Tip:  When fussy cutting, its always best to use a very sharp pair of precision tip scissors.  The best technique is to hold the paper lightly but firmly between your fingertips and rotate the paper rather than the scissors.]  Place a single Stampin' Dimensional behind the center of 1 Highland Heather flower and 2 So Saffron flowers.  Place 2 Stampin' Dimensionals, stacked on top of one another, behind one Petal Pink flower and one Highland Heather flower.  Adhere 2 of the single Stampin' Dimensional flowers first with the Highland Heather flower over the previously stamped Highland Heather flower at the left edge and the So Saffron flower over the previously stamped So Saffron flower near the right edge.  Adhere the Petal Pink flower with 2 Stampin' Dimensionals over the previously stamped Petal Pink flower and the Highland Heather flower with 2 Stampin' Dimensionals at the top right corner of the banner panel.  The remaining So Saffron flower with 1 Stampin' Dimensional was tucked in between the Highland Heather flower at the left and the Petal Pink flower.  The 3 Pear Pizzazz leaves were tucked behind the flowers using Mini Glue Dots.  The petals of the top layer flowers were brushed with the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush.

BloomByBloom_Liner

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  The multi-petal round flower was stamped near the lower left corner using Balmy Blue ink.  Three leaves were stamped on the liner around the edges of the Balmy Blue flower using Pear Pizzazz ink.  The remaining Highland Heather, So Saffron, and Petal Pink fussy cut flowers were adhered over the stamped flower and leaves.  The petals of the fussy cut flowers were brushed with the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush.  The "You are amazing!" sentiment, from the Amazing Life stamp set, was stamped at the top center of the liner using Balmy Blue ink.

BloomByBloom_Envelope

The multi-petal round flower was randomly stamped over the flap of the Medium Whisper White Envelope.  [Tip:  Place a piece of scrap paper between the envelope flap and the body of the envelope to keep the stamping contained to the envelope flap.]

Are you inspired to create with this fun sketch??  I hope so!  And when you do, please share your creation with the Inky Friends!  Each challenge will run for two weeks and at the end we'll pick a winning project.  Here's how it works:

  1. Every 4th Friday of the month a new sketch can be found on the Inky Friends blog by clicking HERE
  2. Because this is a sketch challenge, you must follow the posted sketch; however, you can choose to change the orientation of the sketch

Inky Friends Time To Sale-A-Brate Blog Hop -- Hello Cupcake

Banner

Hello!  And welcome to the Inky Friends Time To Sale-A-Brate! Blog Hop.  I'm so glad you stopped by.  This is the first stop on the hop; however, all the blog posts are linked so that whether you move forward or backwards through the hop, you'll be able to visit all the stops to see some of the great items available to you for FREE with a qualifying order during Sale-A-Bration.  To see the lineup of talented Stampin' Up! Demonstrators participating in this hop, click here.

My blog post features the Hello Cupcake stamp set.  I have three project ideas to share with you.  [Note:  The Hello Cupcake stamp set is a Photopolymer stamp set.  For best stamping results, use the Stampin' Pierce Mat below the area to be stamped.]

My first project uses the stamp set to create a simple Valentine's card.

HelloCupcake_Valentine_Envelope

The card base is Thick Whisper White cardstock.  The greeting was stamped near the bottom of the card front using Early Espresso ink.  Then the cupcake base was stamped above the greeting using Crumb Cake ink.  There are two stamps that comprise the top of the cupcake:  a thin piece that nests onto the top of the cupcake base that can be the color of the cake or a layer of icing.  I chose to make the entire top of the cupcake icing because that's the best part...right?  I think so!  The thin piece was stamped first using Lovely Lipstick ink and then the second swirly icing piece was stamped immediately above the top edge of the thin piece using Lovely Lipstick ink.  The heart pick was stamped at the top of the icing using Call Me Clover ink.  The sprinkles were stamped with Call Me Clover ink.

HelloCupcake_Valentine_Envelope

The inside of the card was stamped with the "Sprinkled With Love" sentiment near the top center using Early Espresso ink.  The heart pick was inked with Lovely Lipstick ink, then a Blender Pen was used to remove the ink from the pick stem, and the heart stamped randomly at the upper left corner and lower right corner.

HelloCupcake_Valentine_Envelope

The Medium Whisper White Envelope flap was randomly stamped with the heart pick (minus the pick stem) using Lovely Lipstick, Call Me Clover, Early Espresso, and Crumb Cake inks  [Note:  Place a piece of scrap paper between the envelope flap and body of the envelope to keep the stamping confined to the envelope flap.]

Supplies I used to make this card --

Stamps:  Hello Cupcake (Sale-A-Bration); Inks:  Call Me Clover, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Lovely Lipstick; Cardstock:  Thick Whisper White; Tools:  Stampin' Trimmer, Simply Scored Scoring Tool, Bone Folder, Stampin' Pierce Mat, Blender Pen; Other:  Medium Whisper White Envelope

Card Measurements --

Thick Whisper White:  4-1/4" x 11" scored at 5-1/2" along the 11" length

My second project is a cute birthday tag to attach to a gift package or gift bag.  Alert!!  This project uses a boatload of punches.

HelloCupcake_BirthdayTag

This tag begins with a cardstock base of Thick Whisper White cardstock.  The Tailored Tag punch was used to punch 7 tags from a 6" x 6" piece of Highland Heather Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper.  If you look at the bottom edge of the tag, you can see that the tags were arranged on the tag front so that the ends of two tags line up with the center point of the tag above it and below.  A smidge of white space is visible between the tags to break up the patterns.  Note that there will be overhang all around the tag base--just trim it off with Paper Snips using the edge of the tag base as a guide.  Punch one end of the tag base with the Scalloped Edge Tag punch.

A piece of Highland Heather cardstock was punched with the Starburst punch and adhered near the bottom edge of the tag.  The "Happy Birthday" greeting from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set was stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Lemon Lime Twist ink and punched with the Classic Label punch.  A piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock was also punched with the Classic Label punch and layered under the punched Whisper White so that a thin bit of Lemon Lime Twist is visible at the bottom left and bottom edge of the Whisper White.  The tags were then adhered near the bottom edge of the Highland Heather Starburst punch.

The cupcake base was stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Crumb Cake ink.  The thin strip of cake/icing stamp was stamped directly above the cupcake base using Lemon Lime Twist ink.  The combined image was cut out with Paper Snips and adhered to the Highland Heather Starburst immediately above the "Happy Birthday" tag.  The swirled icing image was stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Lemon Lime Twist ink, cut out with Paper Snips, and adhered over the top of the cupcake base using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The smallest size of Pearl Basic Jewels were added to the icing image to create sprinkles.  The tag was finished with a length of Lemon Lime Twist ribbon from the Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack (another Sale-A-Bration item!).

Supplies I used to make this project --

Stamps:  Hello Cupcake (Sale-A-Bration), Itty Bitty Greetings; Inks:  Crumb Cake, Lemon Lime Twist; Cardstock:  Thick Whisper White, Highland Heather, Lemon Lime Twist; Designer Series Paper:  Gingham Gala 6" x 6"; Embellishments:  Pearl Basic Jewels, Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack (Sale-A-Bration); Adhesives:  SNAIL, Stampin' Dimensionals; Tools:  Stampin' Trimmer, Paper Snips, Classic Label punch, Scalloped Tag Topper punch, Starburst punch, Tailored Tag punch, Stampin' Pierce Mat

Project Measurements --

Thick Whisper White:  2" x 4-1/4"; Highland Heather:  2" x 3"; Lemon Lime Twist:  1" x 3"; Whisper White:  1" x 3", 2 @ 2" x 3"; Gingham Gala 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper:  6" x 6"; Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack:  9"

My third project uses the stamp set to create a birthday card with a fun fold.

HelloCupcake_Birthday_Envelope

This card begins with a card base of Thick Whisper White cardstock (4-1/4" x 11").  The card is scored at 5-1/2" along the 11" length to fold the card in half.  Then the bottom edge of the card front was folded back to the center fold (or score at 2-3/4" from the bottom edge and fold back to the fold line at the center).

The large and small scribble flower images were randomly stamped on a piece of Daffodil Delight Gingham Gala 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper.  The Designer Series Paper was matted with a slightly larger piece of Balmy Blue cardstock.  A piece of Balmy Blue ribbon from the Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack (Sale-A-Bration) was wrapped around the Designer Series Paper/Balmy Blue cardstock and knotted near the left edge.  The Designer Series Paper/Balmy Blue cardstock were adhered at the center of the folded back flap of the card front.

The "Sprinkled With Love" greeting was stamped near the bottom edge of a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Early Espresso ink.  The cupcake base was stamped immediately above the greeting using Crumb Cake ink.  The thin strip of cake/icing was stamped immediately above the cupcake base using Balmy Blue ink.  The Whisper White cardstock was matted with a slightly larger piece of Early Espresso cardstock.  The left 1/3 of the focal point was adhered to the folded back flap of the card front centered along the fold line.  The swirly icing image was stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Balmy Blue ink.  The sprinkles were stamped on top of the icing using Early Espresso ink.  The swirly icing was cut out with Paper Snips and adhered above the cupcake base using Stampin' Dimensionals.

HelloCupcake_Birthday_Envelope

The inside sentiment area of the card was stamped with the "Celebrate Your Day!" sentiment using Early Espresso ink near the upper left center.  The large and small scribble flowers were randomly stamped along the right edge using Daffodil Delight ink.

HelloCupcake_Birthday_Envelope

The large and small scribble flowers were randomly stamped across the Medium Whisper White Envelope flap using Daffodil Delight ink.  [Note:  Place a scrap piece of paper between the envelope flap and body of the envelope to keep the stamping contained to the envelope flap.]

Supplies I used to make this card --

Stamps:  Hello Cupcake (Sale-A-Bration); Inks:  Balmy Blue, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso; Cardstock:  Thick Whisper White, Balmy Blue, Early Espresso, Whisper White; Designer Series Paper:  Gingham Gala 6" x 6"; Embellishments:  Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack (Sale-A-Bration); Adhesives:  SNAIL, Stampin' Dimensionals; Tools:  Stampin' Trimmer, Simply Scored Scoring Tool, Bone Folder, Paper Snips, Stampin' Pierce Mat; Other:  Medium Whisper White Envelope

Card Measurements --

Thick Whisper White:  4-1/4" x 11" scored at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2" along the 11" length; Balmy Blue:  2-1/2" x 4"; Early Espresso:  2-5/8" x 3-5/8"; Whisper White:  2-1/2" x 3-1/2", 1-3/4" x 2-1/2"; Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper:  2-1/4" x 3-3/4"; Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack:  9"
