"Back in the day" before we had Designer Series Paper and embossing folders, creating a background for your focal point meant some creative stamping or a background stamp.  At that time, I had a pretty large collection of background stamps and making the decision on which background to use for a project held just a much angst THEN as the decision for which Designer Series Paper or embossing folder to use NOW.  That doesn't mean that I don't use background stamps anymore...it's just that they're not the first thing I reach for.  All that being said, when I saw the Buffalo Check background stamp in the Holiday Catalog, I was tickled to see it but wasn't sure how I would incorporate it into my projects.  So I did not order it with my Holiday Catalog pre-order.  However, when I began seeing projects online using this stamp, I started envisioning projects I could make with this stamp.  My Buffalo Check stamp arrived just a few days ago and I put it to good use right away.  This will be one of my October class projects.

This card begins with a card base of Crumb Cake cardstock.  A panel of Mossy Meadow cardstock was stamped with the Buffalo Check background stamp using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  [Tip:  If you plan to stamp this image multiple times for a stack of cards, I would suggest using the Stamparatus to ensure that the image stamps straight.  (That's if you purchase the stamp in the Clear Mount configuration, of course.)]  A strip of paper from the Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper was matted with a slightly larger piece of Gold Foil Sheets and adhered across the stamped panel with the bottom edge of the Gold Foil mat 1-1/8" above the bottom edge of the stamped panel and the right and left edges of the paper strip/Gold Foil mat flush with the right and left edges of the stamped panel.  The panel was adhered at the center of the card front.

The wreath image from the Wishing You Well stamp set was stamped on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using Mossy Meadow ink.  The "Season's Greetings" image was stamped inside the wreath -- just a bit above the center -- using Cherry Cobbler ink.  The wreath was die cut with the Big Shot using the "straight edge" 2-3/8" circle framelit from the Layering Circles Framelits.  The die cut wreath was matted with a piece of Gold Foil Sheets die cut with the Big Shot using the 2-1/2" scallop circle framelit from the Layering Circles Framelits.  Loops of Gold Metallic Thread were adhered behind the wreath and the wreath adhered to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The bottom edge of the wreath mat is 1-1/2" above the bottom edge of the Mossy Meadow panel.

The bow image was stamped on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using Cherry Cobbler ink and cut out with Paper Snips.  The bow was adhered at the bottom right of the wreath using a Mini Glue Dot.  Isn't this bow image AMAZING???  I just love the new DISTINKTIVE stamps.  The images are just stunning!

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.  A thin strip of Gold Foil Sheets was adhered behind the top edge of a strip of Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper and the strips adhered across the bottom edge of the liner with the left, bottom, and right edges of the strips flush with the left, bottom, and right edges of the liner.  The "Season's Greetings from our home to yours" image, from the Merry Christmas To All stamp set, was stamped at the upper center of the liner using Mossy Meadow ink.

The wreath image was stamped at the lower left front corner of the Medium Very Vanilla Envelope using Mossy Meadow ink.  The bow image was stamped at the lower right corner of the wreath using Cherry Cobbler ink.  And the "Season's Greetings" image was stamped inside the wreath using Cherry Cobbler ink.

I've mentioned before that when I design Christmas cards, I like to make sure that the design is simple, the colors are vibrant, the message is meaningful, and that the card can be mailed with one stamp.  I think this card meets those criteria, don't you?
