Stamp Review Crew -- Rooted In Nature

Stamp Review Crew blog banner

Hello!  Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop featuring the Rooted In Nature stamp set.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

The Stamp Review Crew is an international group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who gather for a blog hop the first, third, and fifth Mondays of the month to review a single stamp set.  The number of participants varies from hop to hop, but the ideas are plentiful as we take a stamp set through its paces.  By the time you've traveled through the hop, you are sure to find a number of innovative ways to use the featured stamp set.  So sit back, relax, and get ready to start pinning ideas to your Pinterest board!

I have to say that the Rooted In Nature stamp set and the coordinating Nature's Roots Framelits were certainly near the top of my Wish List when the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog was unveiled to Demonstrators in April.  The versatility available with the stamp set and framelits is nearly limitless.  So, of course, I was thrilled that this was one of the Bundles available to Demonstrators for pre-order in May.  And it was the first Bundle I chose to feature with my Stamp Clubs in June.  Here's the card that we made.  Other elements include:  Nature's Poem Designer Series Paper, Grapefruit Grove Grosgrain ribbon, and Stitched Labels Framelits.

RootedInNature_YouAreWonderful_BlackberryBliss

The color combination used for this card comes from the Nature's Poem Designer Series Paper skeletal leaf print:  Blackberry Bliss, Grapefruit Grove, and Petal Pink.  I would never have come up with this color palette on my own, but it is certainly eye-catching!

This card begins with a card base of Thick Whisper White cardstock.  A panel of the Designer Series Paper was matted with a slightly larger panel of Blackberry Bliss cardstock and adhered at the center of the card front.  A shorter panel of Vellum cardstock cut to the width of the Designer Series Paper was adhered at the center of the Designer Series Paper panel with the left and right sides of the Vellum flush with the left and right sides of the Designer Series Paper.  [Tip:  When adhering Vellum, place the adhesive in an area that will be covered by something placed above the adhesive.  For this card, the adhesive is placed in the center of the Vellum.  It's OK that the adhesive doesn't go to the edges of the paper because the elements placed on top of the Vellum will keep the Vellum from lifting.]

The "You Are Wonderful" greeting was stamped at the center of a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock using Blackberry Bliss ink.  The cardstock was die cut with the Big Shot using the largest of the labels in the Stitched Labels Framelits.  I just love the decorative edges on this label!!  The label was adhered at the center of the Vellum cardstock.  Now it's time to embellish the label:

  • The small single skeleton leaf image was stamped on a piece of Grapefruit Grove cardstock using Grapefruit Grove ink and then die cut with the Big Shot using the corresponding framelit from the Nature's Roots Framelits
  • The three leaf image was stamped on a piece of Petal Pink cardstock using Petal Pink ink and die cut with the Big Shot using the corresponding framelit from the Natures' Roots Framelits
  • A piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock was embossed with the Big Shot using the large skeleton leaf image embosslit from the Nature's Roots Framelits (Step 1 in the photo below).  Then the embossed image was die cut with the Big Shot using the corresponding framelit from the Nature's Roots Framelits (Step 2 in the photo below)

  • The Blackberry Bliss leaf was adhered at the top right corner of the label, the Grapefruit Grove leaf was adhered over the lower left side of the Blackberry Bliss leaf, and the Petal Pink leaf bundle was adhered at the lower right corner of the label
  • A "bunny bow" made with Grapefruit Grove grosgrain ribbon was adhered at the lower center of the label with a rolled up Mini Glue Dot

The inside sentiment area of the card was kept uncluttered and simple.  The "To Thank You For All You Do" sentiment was stamped near the upper center using Blackberry Bliss ink.  The large skeleton leaf image was stamped at the lower right corner using Blackberry Bliss ink with the tip of the leaf pointing toward the upper left.  The small skeleton leaf image was stamped at the upper right center of the Blackberry Bliss leaf using Grapefruit Grove ink.  The three leaf skeleton leaf image was stamped at the lower left of the Blackberry Bliss leaf using Petal Pink ink.

The three leaves were stamped again at the lower left front corner of the Medium Whisper White Envelope.  However, this time the Blackberry Bliss leaf is pointing toward the upper right corner of the envelope front, the Grapefruit Grove leaf is stamped at the upper left center of the Blackberry Bliss leaf, and the Petal Pink leaf is stamped at the lower right of the Blackberry Bliss leaf.

Supplies I used to make this card --

Stamps:  Rooted In Nature; Inks:  Blackberry Bliss, Grapefruit Grove, Petal Pink; Cardstock:  Blackberry Bliss, Grapefruit Grove, Petal Pink, Thick Whisper White, Vellum; Designer Series Paper:  Nature's Poem; Embellishments:  Grapefruit Grove Grosgrain ribbon; Adhesives:  SNAIL, Mini Glue Dots; Tools:  Stampin' Trimmer, Simply Scored Scoring Tool, Bone Folder, Paper Snips, Big Shot w/Magnetic Platform, Nature's Roots Framelits, Stitched Labels Framelits; Other:  Medium Whisper White Envelope

Card Measurements --

Blackberry Bliss:  4-1/8" x 5-3/8", 1-1/2" x 3"; Grapefruit Grove:  1-1/2" x 2"; Petal Pink:  2" x 2"; Thick Whisper White:  4-1/4" x 11" scored at 5-1/2" along the 11" length; Vellum Cardstock:  3-1/2" x 4"; Nature's Poem Designer Series Paper:  4" x 5-1/4"; Grapefruit Grove Grosgrain ribbon:  8"

The Nature's Poem Designer Series Paper pack includes a sheet of the skeletal leaf print in an alternate color scheme of Cajun Craze, Mint Macaron, and Petal Pink.  Here's the same card using that color palette. The die cut label was embellished with Rhinestone Basic Jewels instead of the grosgrain ribbon.  This card certainly has a Fall feel to it.

RootedInNature_YouAreWonderful_CajunCraze

The process for making this card is the same as for the previous card, just the colors are different.  Cajun Craze was used to stamp the greeting on the die cut label.  Petal Pink ink for the Petal Pink leaf and Mint Macaron ink for the Mint Macaron leaf.

Cajun Craze ink was used to stamp the sentiment.  Cajun Craze ink for the large leaf, Mint Macaron ink for the small leaf, and Petal Pink ink for the three leaf group.

RootedInNature_YouAreWonderful_CajunCraze_Envelope

The envelope front has Cajun Craze ink for the large leaf, Mint Macaron ink for the small leaf, and Petal Pink ink for the three leaf group--all stamped at the lower left front corner of the Medium Whisper White Envelope.

Beautiful Mickey. I love how the leaves and sentiment look layered on the stitched shape die cut.

Pretty cards, Mickey. I love the color combo on your first one! I'm going to give that one a try. :)

I love the way you used the Vellum to soften the DSP patterns on both!

Lauren

Lovely, all! So many beautiful cards made with this set!

I absolutely love the color combinations you used, Mickey! Stamping the envelope is the perfect touch. This is such a pretty layout for sure, with the vellum underlay. Thank you for the inspiration.
