This Little Piggy -- Party Time Gift Bag

Hi There!

Today's post provides the how-to's for making one of the projects created for last weekend's Inky Friends Blog Hop featuring the 2017-2019 In Colors.  To see a line up of the Stampin' Up! Artists who participated in the hop, click here.  To begin the hop, click here.  The color I chose to highlight was Powder Pink.

This project is all about the Powder Pink from the focal point piggies to the gift bag base.  I just love how this turned out AND it was so quick and easy to make!  Couldn't you just see these on tables as a party favor?

This project begins with a sheet of Powder Pink cardstock cut to 7-1/2" x 11".  The solid circles image from the Playful Backgrounds stamp set was randomly stamped all over the cardstock using Powder Pink ink, re-inking the image before every stamping.  [Tip:  When using photopolymer stamps it's best to use a Stampin' Pierce Mat underneath the cardstock to achieve the best stamping results.]  The the cardstock was scored and punched (including the reverse punch for the ribbon handles) to create a Medium sized gift bag using the Gift Bag Punch board.  Using Tear & Tape, assemble the gift bag.  Thread Whisper White 3/8" Classic Weave ribbon through the holes punched along the top edge of the bag and knot the ends together inside the bag.  Then adjust the ribbon to make the handles hang evenly on the front and back of the bag.

The focal point on the front of the bag begins with a piece of Watercolor Paper.  Spritz a fine mist of water over the front of the Watercolor Paper (lightly blot off any water puddles with a paper towel).  Using the brush tip of the Tranquil Tide Stampin' Write Marker, apply ink to one side of the Window Sheet cut slightly smaller than the Watercolor Paper and press the Window Sheet to the center of the Watercolor Paper.  Use a very slightly wet Aquapainter to move the color around a bit, if required.  If the color is too light for your taste, repeat the process with the Window Sheet.  Set the Watercolor Paper aside to dry completely (or use a Heat Tool to speed up the drying process).

Using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, stamp the "Party Time" greeting, from the Happy Birthday, Gorgeous stamp set, at the center of a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.  Using Paper Snips, cut banner tails to the right and left of the greeting.  Adhere the banner near the bottom of the Watercolor Paper with the bottom of the banner 1/2" above the bottom edge of the Watercolor Paper.

Using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, stamp the pig standing on four legs and the pig standing on one leg (both piggies are from the This Little Piggy stamp set) on Powder Pink cardstock.  Using Paper Snips, cut out the pigs.  Adhere the pig standing on four legs directly above the banner to look like he's standing on top of the banner.  Adhere the pig standing on one leg above the pig standing on four legs so that the standing leg of the upper pig rests just behind the facing ear of the lower pig.

Using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, stamp the "Hooray" balloon image, from the Happy Birthday, Gorgeous stamp set, on a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and punch out with the small balloon from the Balloon Bouquet punch.  Apply a Mini Glue Dot behind the bottom of the balloon and press a piece of Whisper White Baker's Twine onto the glue dot with 1/2" of the Baker's Twine extending above the glue dot and the rest hanging below the balloon.  Press a Stampin' Dimensional on top of the Baker's Twine and the cardstock at the back of the balloon.  Adhere the balloon at the upper right corner of the Watercolor Paper.  Apply a rolled up Mini Glue Dot behind the "arm" extending out from the dancing pig and wrap the Baker's Twine around the "arm" with the end of the twine dangling below the "arm".  Use Paper Snips to trim the twine.

Looking at this project just makes me smile.  Which is the only reason I purchased this stamp set.  I'm not really a pig person, but there's just something about the expressions on the faces of these pigs that makes me happy.
