Number of Years -- Ellen's 60th Birthday

Hello!

I've been diving into a cleaning and organizing binge in my craft room to make room for the boxes of GREAT NEW STUFF from the 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog and found a stack of cards that were set aside for blog posts buried under a stack of paperwork.  I made this card in February for my good friend Ellen's 60th birthday.  I think milestone birthdays deserve special recognition but I didn't want the card to be too much in Ellen's face, so to speak; thus the softer colors and pretty paper pattern.

This card begins with a card base of Sahara Sand.  A panel of Very Vanilla cardstock, slightly smaller than the card front, was adhered at the center of the card front.  A panel of Falling In Love Designer Series Paper (Retired--Sold Out) was matted with a slightly larger piece of Sweet Sugarplum cardstock and adhered at the center of the Very Vanilla panel.

The banner image, from the Number of Years stamp set, was stamped twice on Very Vanilla cardstock using Sahara Sand ink.  The "Happy" image was stamped at the center of one of the banners (with the center banner area above the banner tails) using Sweet Sugarplum ink.  The "Birthday" image was stamped at the center of the remaining banner (with the center banner area below the banner tails) using Sweet Sugarplum ink.  The banners were die cut with the Big Shot using the banner framelit from the Large Numbers Framelits.

The "6" and the "0" images were stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock using Sweet Sugarplum ink.  The images were die cut with the Big Shot using the corresponding framelits from the Large Numbers Framelits.  The numbers were adhered slightly above the center of the Designer Series Paper on the card front.  The banners were adhered centered above and below the numbers using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The small banner framelit was used to die cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with the Big Shot.  The small banner image was stamped onto the banner using Sahara Sand ink.  The "TH" image was stamped at the center of the banner using Sweet Sugarplum ink.  [Tip:  When using Framelits, I normally stamp first and die cut second.  However, it's impossible to see through the small banner framelit to line up the image inside the framelit.  Thankfully, the Number of Years stamp set is a photopolymer set which means that you can easily stamp within the die cut banner.]  The banner was adhered to the card front with the left side of the small banner tucked under the right center edge of the "0".

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.  The sentiment "the number of years the world has been a better place because you're in it." was stamped at the upper center of the liner using Sahara Sand ink.

The grouped leaves image was stamped at the lower left corner of the liner using Pear Pizzazz ink.  The cone flower and five-petal flower images were stamped at the open stems of the leaves image using Sweet Sugarplum ink.

The leaves image was stamped at the lower left front corner of the Medium Very Vanilla envelope.  The cone flower and five-petal flower images were stamped at the open stems using Sweet Sugarplum ink.

The great thing about this card is that it was very quick to make.  Certainly a card that would lend itself to multiples.  I wish I had thought of it last year when all my high school friends and I were turning 60...

A reminder that there are only a few days remaining for the Retiring List.  An important piece of information is that stamp sets on the Retiring List are now available only while supplies last.  If there's a stamp set that you are on the fence about, now is the time to order it.  You can see the most current information regarding the Retiring List at the Stampin' Up! on-line store.  Just click on the Order Stampin' Up! Online button at the top right sidebar of this blog page, click on the Shop Now hot link on the menu bar, and then click on the Retiring List hot link on the left sidebar.

One thing I keep forgetting to mention is that you'll see all of the bundles in the current catalog on the Retiring List.  Many of the elements in the bundles are carrying over to the 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog--just not the bundle prices.  Therefore, if you want to purchase the stamp sets and coordinating Big Shot items or punches at the bundle price, now is the time to do that, too!
