Timeless Textures -- Happy Birthday Sunshine!

Hello there!

It's good to be back to blogging after a short absence.  Sometimes life just moves you on unexpected pathways from time to time.

Today's post is a follow-up to Monday's Stamp Review Crew blog hop featuring the Timeless Textures stamp set.  I hope you took the time to travel through the hop to see all the AMAZING ideas for using this stamp set to create backgrounds for your focal point or to create unique focal points.  To see the line up of Stampin' Up! artists who participated in the blog hop, click here.  To begin the hop, click here.

One of the great things about background stamp images is that you can achieve the "look" or "feel" of an object on plain cardstock just by stamping the image.  For this card base, I used the smudged lines image to create the "look" of a distressed wood background for this card base by randomly stamping the image horizontally using Versamark ink.  This gives the background interest without overwhelming the focal point.  Since the focal point is lying directly on top of the card base, simple is definitely best.  The focal point is created with the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits using Cucumber Crush cardstock for the stem and leaves, Daffodil Delight cardstock for the flower base, and Watermelon Wonder cardstock for the flower.  [Note that the Daffodil Delight flower base and the leaves were created from the small four petal flower/butterfly-looking thinlit that was cut in half for the flower base and cut into four pieces for the leaves.]  The flower pieces were adhered to the card base using teeny tiny dots of Multipurpose Liquid Glue (or as I like to say, "Essence of Glue").  You can also use the Fine Tip Glue Pen to achieve the same result.  A piece of Thick Whisper White Baker's Twine was tied into a bow and adhered at the base of the flower using a Mini Glue Dot.

The greeting, from the Sunshine Sayings stamp set, was stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and die cut with the Big Shot using the banner framelit from the Gift Card Envelope & Trims Framelits.  The banner was adhered at the center of a strip of Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper and a piece of Watermelon Wonder cardstock with the right ends of the papers aligned flush with the right side of the card base and the left ends of the Designer Series Paper and Watermelon Wonder cardstock punched with the Banner Triple punch.

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  The stem, flower, and leaf images, from the Sunshine Sayings stamp set, were stamped onto the liner using Watermelon Wonder ink for the flower and Cucumber Crush ink for the stem and leaves.  The "Congrats" sentiment was stamped to the right of the flower using Cucumber Crush ink.  The "On One More Year" sentiment was stamped below "Congrats" using Watermelon Wonder ink.  A strip of Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper was adhered along the left edge of the liner.

The stem, flower, and leaf images were stamped at the lower left front corner of the Medium Whisper White Envelope using Watermelon Wonder ink for the flower and Cucumber Crush ink for the stem and leaves.  The "Happy Birthday" greeting was stamped below the flower using Cucumber Crush ink.

I'll be back soon with another one of the cards I featured for the Stamp Review Crew blog hop featuring the Timeless Textures stamp set.  I look forward to seeing you!
