Papillon Potpourri with Love & Affection

Today's post is a follow up with the how-to's for creating one of the greeting cards featured in last Monday's Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop featuring the Papillon Potpourri stamp set.

This card begins with a card base of Crumb Cake cardstock.  Panels of Daffodil Delight and Night of Navy cardstock were used to mat a piece of paper from the Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.  (I just LOVE the fun colors in this paper!)  A length of 5/8" Organza ribbon was placed diagonally across the paper with the ends folded to the back and adhered to the Daffodil Delight panel.  The paper and panels were adhered at the center of the card front.

A piece of Mint Macaron cardstock was embossed with the floral banners folder from the Floral Affection Textured Impressions embossing folders.  The edges of the embossed cardstock were sponged with Mint Macaron ink and then the sponge was lightly brushed over the raised embossing.  The embossed cardstock was adhered to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals so that the open space between the floral banners follows the angle of the diagonal ribbon.

A piece of Whisper White cardstock was stamped with the "you make me ridiculously happy" sentiment from the Love & Affection stamp set using Night of Navy ink.  The edges of the cardstock were sponged with Mint Macaron ink and then adhered over the open space between the embossed floral banners on the Mint Macaron cardstock using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The squares pattern large butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set was stamped on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock using Watermelon Wonder ink.  The butterfly was punched with the Elegant Butterfly punch.  Three medium sized pearls from the Pearl Basic Jewels were adhered along the center "body" of the butterfly.  A small piece of Gold Metallic Thread was folded in half and adhered at the back of the butterfly "body" with a Mini Glue Dot with the cut ends of the thread extending beyond the top of the butterfly to suggest antennae.  The butterfly was adhered at the top right corner of the Whisper White cardstock and the wings of the butterfly gently folded up.

A strip of paper from the Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper was adhered across the top of the Whisper White liner.  The "you are every lovely word I could possibly think of" sentiment was stamped at the upper center of the liner using Night of Navy ink.

A floral spray of color was added to the bottom left corner of the liner using a few of the floral images from the Love & Affection stamp set.  Daffodil Delight ink was used for the flower outline, Watermelon Wonder ink for the flower center, and Mint Macaron ink for the leaf branches extending from each side of the flower.  Photopolymer stamps make placement of the images so easy!

The floral spray of color was stamped at the lower left front corner of the Medium Whisper White Envelope using the same images and colors used for the liner.

The Love & Affection stamp set was part of a new catalog pre-order offered to Stampin' Up! Demonstrators in the weeks prior to the launch of the 2016-2017 Stampin' Up! Catalog so that they can begin promoting the new products.  When I saw the images I wondered why I would possibly need another floral stamp set.  But when you look at the embossing folders, the stamp set, and the paper with it's wonderful colors and textures as a whole, you can't help but want, want, want.  My husband calls this an addiction.  If so, I'm OK with this addiction when it keeps me looking at so many lovely things all the time.

If you haven't taken a stroll through the 2016-2017 Stampin' Up! Catalog you really need to do so!  You can download it by clicking on the catalog cover icon on the right sidebar of this blog page.  If you'd like to receive a paper copy of the catalog, be sure to contact me by clicking on the Email Mickey button on the right sidebar of this blog page and I'll be happy to send one to you (but only if you live in the United States).

Have a great weekend!
