Hello! Thanks for stopping by!
Today's post is a follow up for one of the projects I featured for the Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop featuring the Papillon Potpourri stamp set. Most of the time I use the butterflies in this stamp set as accents to a focal point image. For this card, I wanted to make them the focal point.
This card begins with a card base of Thick Whisper White cardstock. Four strips of Pop of Pink Designer Washi Tape were adhered across the card front. Three large detailed butterflies were stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Basic Black Archival ink--changing the orientation of the butterfly with each stamping. The butterfly was stamped a fourth time on Whisper White cardstock in an orientation different from the Basic Black butterflies, this time using Melon Mambo ink. The four butterflies were die cut with the Big Shot using the 1-3/8" square from the Layering Squares Framelits. Three scraps of Melon Mambo cardstock and one scrap of Basic Black cardstock were die cut with the Big Shot using the 1-5/8" square from the Layering Squares Framelits. The Basic Black die cut butterflies were adhered to the Melon Mambo squares and the Melon Mambo die cut butterfly was adhered to the Basic Black square. The squares were adhered in a square shape to the cardfront with the Melon Mambo butterfly at the bottom right corner. The butterfly was stamped one more time on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock using Melon Mambo ink and punched with the Elegant Butterfly punch. A Mini Glue Dot was placed under the body of the punched butterfly and the punched butterfly adhered over the squared Melon Mambo butterfly with the wings of the punched butterfly gently pulled up.
Three strips of Pop of Pink Designer Washi Tape were adhered along the bottom edge of the inside sentiment area of the card base. The "My Heart Smiles Just Thinking of You" sentiment, from the Suite Sayings stamp set, was inked with the Basic Black and Melon Mambo Stampin' Write Markers and stamped near the upper center.
The front left side of the Medium Whisper White Envelope was stamped four times with the large detailed butterfly using Basic Black Archival and Melon Mambo inks. Three of the butterflies are Basic Black and one is Melon Mambo with the orientation of the butterfly changing from left to right as the butterflies are stamped from bottom to top.
If you're like me, you have lots and lots of Washi Tape rolling around. Put it to good use and make a stack of these cards to send to your friends or make a stack as a quick gift.
