You're So Lovely -- A Pretty Note Card (FMS223)

Hi there!

In my last post, I presented the You're So Lovely Project Kit with the coordinating You're So Lovely stamp set.  I was really pleased with how quickly and easily the 16 cards with envelopes and 12 treat bags with tags went together.  Today's post features a pretty note card made with some of the left over items from the kit.

The left over pieces used for this card are the die cut butterfly and the Basic Black/White Baker's Twine.  The die cut started out as white but it was used as a stencil for the insides of the cards and to decorate the envelopes for the cards I made in the kit.  So why not take advantage of the pretty Mint Macaron color of the butterfly and use it as a focal point?  You can see that the Mint Macaron on the butterfly is darker than the Mint Macaron card base, but that's because there are a whole lot of layers of ink on that butterfly after using it as a stencil multiple times.  I even used it a couple more times as a stencil for this card!  The first time, it was placed at the upper left corner of the Whisper White cardstock liner for the inside sentiment area of this card.  The Mint Macaron ink was applied to the cardstock using a stipple brush.  [You can use a sponge, but I have better success with the stipple brush because I don't have to worry about pressing too hard with the sponge and leaving a blotchy mark.]  The second time, it was placed at the upper center of the back of the Medium Whisper White envelope.  The Mint Macaron ink was applied in the same manner as used for the liner.  If you're using the die cut for the focal point of the card, you need to complete these steps before you make the card front.

The card begins with a Mint Macaron card base.  A piece of Whisper White cardstock was embossed with the Big Shot using the Fluttering Textured Impressions embossing folder.  The edges of the embossed cardstock were sponged with Mint Macaron ink and the inked sponge was rubbed lightly over the butterflies to bring them into higher relief.  The Basic Black/White Baker's Twine was wrapped around the upper center of the Whisper White cardstock with the ends of the Baker's Twine adhered at the back of the cardstock.  Then the Whisper White cardstock was adhered at the center of the card front.

A small piece of Gold Metallic Thread was bent in half with the fold adhered to a Mini Glue Dot placed behind the head of the butterfly die cut.  Stampin' Dimensionals were cut into smaller pieces and placed along the back of the butterfly body and then the butterfly was adhered at the upper center of the Whisper White cardstock over the Basic Black/White Baker's Twine.  The "You're Lovely" part of the "trust me You're Lovely" sentiment from the You're So Lovely stamp set was inked with the brush tip of the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker and stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Then the banner image from the You're So Lovely stamp set was inked with Mint Macaron ink and stamped over the "You're Lovely" sentiment centering the sentiment inside the banner.  The banner was die cut with the Big Shot using the banner framelit from the Large Numbers Framelits.  The banner was adhered over the lower part of the die cut butterfly using Mini Glue Dots.

The inside sentiment area was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  You can see that the butterfly die cut was used to stencil a butterfly at the top left corner of the liner prior to completing the card front.  The bottom 1-1/2" of the liner was embossed with the Big Shot using the Fluttering Textured Impressions embossing folder.  The edges of the liner were sponged with Mint Macaron ink and the inked sponge was rubbed lightly over the embossed butterflies.  A piece of Basic Black/White Baker's Twine was wrapped around the liner with the ends of the Baker's Twine adhered at the back of the liner.  A bow was tied with a piece of the Baker's Twine and adhered at the right side of the wrapped Baker's Twine using a rolled up Mini Glue Dot.  The "trust me" part of the "trust me You're Lovely" sentiment was inked with the brush tip of a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker and stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  The banner image was inked with Mint Macaron ink and stamped over the "trust me" sentiment centering the sentiment inside the banner.  The banner was die cut with the Big Shot using the banner framelit from the Large Numbers Framelits.  The banner was adhered near the upper center of the liner with the left edge of the banner over the lower right side of the butterfly making the banner slightly off center to the right.  Finally, the liner was adhered at the center of the inside of the card.

You can see where the butterfly die cut was used to stencil a butterfly at the back upper center of the Medium Whisper White Envelope using Mint Macaron ink and the stipple brush.

So today I'm scrolling through my Facebook posts and noticed a lovely card made by Jen Timko using the current sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches (FMS223).

FMS Final 223-001 (1)

I looked at my card and realized that this card uses the sketch design!  How about that for serendipity??!!??  So I decided, "What the heck!" and am submitting my card for their challenge.  I'm so jazzed that it worked out this way.

Hope you are liking the updated look for the blog.  I contracted with Patsy Waggoner at Blogs by Patsy to update the look of the blog and make it more friendly with social media and all the electronic devices that folks use.  I'd love to hear your feedback on the updates.  Do they work for you?

Talk to you soon--
