After two full days of rain the sun is finally shining again! Woohoo! What's the point of living in Florida if there's no sun???!!! I like what the rain does to the lawn and the flowers, but it's very nice to be feeling the warmth of the sun.
Today's post discusses the third project I featured during last weekend's Stampin' Addicts Occasions Catalog Blog Hop. This gift bag was so quick and easy to make thanks to the Gift Bag Punch Board and the Stars Framelits for the Big Shot.
The gift bag begins with a piece of Shine On Specialty Designer Series Paper. I love this paper because it's a bit heavier than the regular cardstocks, the background is Kraft, and the designs are terrific. One side is printed with fun patterns using Bermuda Bay, Cucumber Crush, and Watermelon Wonder. The other side of the paper is embossed with silver in even more fun patterns. No matter which side you choose, you can't go wrong!
I chose a piece with a Watermelon Wonder print that reminds me of confetti to go along with the birthday theme for my projects. I cut the paper to 7-1/2" x 12" to make a large bag using the Gift Bag Punch Board. Remember, with the Gift Bag Punch Board, the height of the bag is up to you, but the board creates only three widths of bags: Small, Medium, and Large. So the 7-1/2" is part of the height of the bag (less the portion that folds in for the bottom of the bag) and the 12" is what is required to make all the sides for the Large gift bag. I punched and scored the cardstock for the Large bag, and then punched the holes for the carry straps with the punch board, too. And I used Tear & Tape Adhesive to put the bag together. Whisper White 5/8" Satin ribbon was threaded through the punched holes at the top of the bag to create the carry handles. The two ends of the ribbon were knotted together inside the bag.
The star medallion on the bag begins with a piece of Watermelon Wonder cardstock die cut with the Big Shot using the largest of the Stars Framelits. The reverse side of the paper used for the gift bag was used to die cut a star with the Big Shot using the second largest of the Stars Framelits. The silver embossed star was adhered at the center of the Watermelon Wonder star. A piece of Silver Foil Sheets was die cut with the Big Shot using the third largest of the Stars Framelits and adhered at the center of the silver embossed star. The stars were adhered to the upper center of the gift bag front at a jaunty angle using Stampin' Dimensionals.
The "Make a wish." sentiment was stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Watermelon Wonder ink and punched with the Washi Label punch. The sentiment was adhered to the silver foil star using Stampin' Dimensionals. The candle image was inked with Watermelon Wonder and Crushed Curry Stampin' Write Markers, stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, and punched with the candle punch from the Party Punch Pack. This step was repeated to make four additional candles. The candles were adhered above the sentiment using rolled up Mini Glue Dots with the bottom edge of each candle tucked just below the top edge of the punched label. To line these up evenly, I started with the center candle and worked my way outward to the left and right of the center candle one candle at a time.
The hanging tag serves as the to/from tag for the gift bag. The tag begins with a piece of Whisper White cardstock approximately 1/8" longer and wider than the "It's Your Day!" greeting. The greeting was stamped at the center of the Whisper White cardstock using Watermelon Wonder ink and the Whisper White cardstock adhered at the center of a rectangular piece of Watermelon Wonder cardstock slightly larger than the Whisper White cardstock to achieve a 1/16" border around the Whisper White cardstock. A hole was punched at the upper left corner of the tag using the 1/16" circle handheld punch and a length of Whisper White Baker's Twine was looped through the hole. Wink of Stella Clear ink was lightly brushed over each letter of the greeting. Once the ink was dry (just a couple of minutes) the tag was tied to the handle loop.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I'm off to straighten up the house for a visit from my oldest daughter and granddaughter tomorrow. It's always fun to see them!
