Wondrous Wreath Remake

Hi There!

I was going through a box of projects that I've made in the last couple of years but had never posted on my blog.  I was looking for ideas for some simple Christmas cards.  Here's a card that I designed for my 2014 Christmas card classes.

Wondrous_Wreath_Noel_2014

I really like the simple design of this card because it allows you to focus on the wreath.  Here's the inside of the card.

Wondrous_Wreath_Noel_2014_Inside

I love the simplicity of the greeting, too.  Since some of the items used on this card are no longer available, I decided to remake the card using supplies that are currently available.

Wondrous_Wreath_Noel_2015

Both cards are essentially the same; just a few subtle differences.  The remade card begins with a card base of Cherry Cobbler.  A piece of Old Olive cardstock was embossed in the Big Shot using the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions embossing folder.  The edges of the embossed cardstock were sponged with Old Olive ink and the inked sponge rubbed lightly over the raised stars to bring them into higher relief.  A strip of Merry Moments Designer Series Paper was adhered horizontally across the center of the embossed panel.  Then a length of Gold 1/8" ribbon was wrapped around the panel and Designer Series Paper strip and knotted at the right side of the panel.  The panel was adhered at the center of the card front.

A piece of Kraft Corrugated Paper was die cut in the Big Shot using the Deco Labels Collection Framelits and adhered at the left side of the card front.  The wreath images from the Wondrous Wreath stamp set were stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock with Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, and Cherry Cobbler inks (it's a three-step stamping technique) and the wreath die cut in the Big Shot with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits.  The wreath hanger was die cut from Cherry Cobbler cardstock and adhered at the top center of the Corrugated Paper (about half of the hanger was snipped off) and the wreath positioned centered over the circular area of the Corrugated Paper and adhered using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The bow image was stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock, die cut with the bow die, and adhered at the top center of the wreath using a Mini Glue Dot.  The "Noel" was die cut from Gold Foil Sheets and adhered to the wreath with rolled up Mini Glue Dots placed under the "N" and the "L".

The inside sentiment area was lined with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.  A piece of Merry Moments Designer Series Paper (the reverse side of the paper used on the card front) was adhered along the left side of the liner.  A piece of Gold 1/8" ribbon was adhered on the right and left edges of the paper with the ends of the ribbon folded over to the back of the liner.  The greeting was stamped at the upper center of the liner using Old Olive ink.

The envelope flap of the Medium Very Vanilla Envelope was embossed in the Big Shot with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions embossing folder.

So, which card appeals to you?

Have a Jolly Christmas -- GDP011

Hi there!

I was cleaning off my work table to begin cutting paper for this weekend's Christmas card class when I came across a leftover gift bag tag (you can see that project here).  Since I had used up all the large pieces of the coordinating Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper for this tag I couldn't make another gift bag, so I dug through the scraps to figure out what to do with this lonely tag.  Fortunately, I found enough pieces of the paper to make a card.  AND since this week's theme for the Global Design Project is Christmas, I realized I had stumbled onto a serendipitous moment -- might as well take advantage of it!  So here's the card.

GDP011 Theme - Christmas

Jolly_Christmas

This card begins with a card base of Real Red cardstock.  A piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock mats a slightly smaller piece of Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper.  I just love those Santas!  The Mossy Meadow/Designer Series Paper were adhered to the card front.

The tag features the reverse side of the Santas paper from the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper die cut with the Big Shot using the Deco Labels Collection Framelits.  A piece of Real Red cardstock was also die cut with the Big Shot the same size as the Designer Series Paper.  The Real Red and Designer Series Paper were adhered together.  A frame for the die cut pieces was created from Mossy Meadow cardstock using the same size Framelit used to die cut the Real Red/Designer Series Paper with the next smaller size framelit placed centered inside the larger framelit.  Then the cardstock and framelits were rolled through the Big Shot and the frame removed from the framelits.  You can see more detail about making the frame here.  The frame was adhered to the die cut Designer Series Paper using the Fine Tip Glue Pen.

Two holes were punched near the top edge of the tag using the Crop-A-Dile 1/8" hole punch (too many layers for the 1/8" handheld circle punch) and a length of Real Red 1/8" Striped ribbon was threaded through the holes and tied in a bow.  The tag was adhered to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.

A piece of Very Vanilla cardstock was punched with the 2-1/2" circle punch and covered with the stars image from the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set using Crushed Curry ink.  The sentiments "Have a" and "Christmas" (also from the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set) were stamped at the top and bottom edges of the circle, respectively, using Early Espresso ink.  The "jolly" sentiment was die cut from Red Foil Sheets with the Big Shot using the Christmas Greetings Thinlits and adhered across the center of the circle using the Fine Tip Glue Pen.  A small Mossy Meadow dot from the Home for Christmas Enamel Dots was used to dot the "j".  The circle was adhered at the center of the tag using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Jolly_Christmas_Inside

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.  A strip of the Santas paper was adhered along the left side of the liner.  Christmas greetings from the Versatile Christmas stamp set were stamped near the upper center of the liner using Mossy Meadow and Real Red inks.

Jolly_Christmas_Envelope

The flap of a Medium Very Vanilla envelope was covered with a piece of the Santas paper and trimmed along the edges of the envelop flap using Paper Snips.  And that pretty much used up all the remaining pieces of the Santa paper!

Thanks for stopping by to visit!

You're the Best -- 3-2-1 Stamp Team Swap

Hello!

A busy week so far getting things wrapped up from last weekend's On Stage event in Tampa and staging supplies in my work room in preparation for my final Christmas Card class this weekend.  I'm also getting things ready for family arrivals for the Thanksgiving holiday.  I'm excited to be seeing a couple of my grandchildren in just a few more days!

Today's post is a swap card I designed for the second of my two organized swaps at On Stage Tampa.  This one was for the 3-2-1 Stamp Team.  It's always fun to swap with these very talented stampers.  You may recognize the basic design of the card as one I made for the Global Design Project 003 challenge to make a baby themed card.  You can see my submission here.

Youre_the_Best

This card begins with a card base of Mint Macaron with the edges of the card front sponged with Mint Macaron ink.  A piece of Soft Suede cardstock was stamped with the Brushstrokes background stamp inked with Versamark.  The edges of the Soft Suede cardstock were sponged with Soft Suede ink.

A strip of Tear & Tape adhesive was placed across the Soft Suede cardstock 1-1/4" from the bottom edge.  Then a 12" length of Mint Macaron 1" Dotted Lace Trim was finger pleated along the adhesive.

A piece of Whisper White cardstock was stamped with the "You're the Best" sentiment from the Friendly Wishes stamp set using Night of Navy ink.  The sentiment was die cut with the Big Shot using the Deco Labels Collection Framelits aligning the top line of the sentiment with the top edge of the framelit and the "Best" part of the sentiment in the wider area of the framelit.  The framelit was cut approximately 1/2" below the bottom edge of "Best" and the edges of the die cut sponged with Mint Macaron ink.

One of the things that always stymies me is what to do with the long line of attached rhinestones on the Rhinestone Basic Jewels card.  For this card, I decided to clip five of the attached rhinestones and place them to the right of the "Best" as an exclamation point.  I placed a small rhinestone below the line of five as the dot of the exclamation point.

The edges of a piece of English Garden Designer Series Paper were sponged with Soft Suede ink.  Three Stampin' Dimensionals were placed along the back top edge of the paper and three Mini Glue Dots along the bottom back edge.  The bottom edge of the Designer Series Paper was adhered over the finger-pleated Mint Macaron lace so that approximately 1/2" of the lace is visible below the bottom edge of the paper.  Before adhering the Stampin' Dimensionals, the "You're the Best" sentiment was adhered near the center right of the Soft Suede cardstock with the bottom part of the sentiment below the top edge of the Designer Series Paper.  Then the Stampin' Dimensionals on the Designer Series Paper were pressed into place.

A piece of Night of Navy 1/2" Seam Binding ribbon was wrapped around the Designer Series Paper and Soft Suede cardstock and knotted at the left side of the Designer Series Paper.  The ends of the ribbon were trimmed with Paper Snips.  The Soft Suede cardstock was adhered to the Mint Macaron card front.

Youre_the_Best_Inside

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the edges of the cardstock sponged with Mint Macaron ink.  A strip of English Garden Designer Series Paper, the edges sponged with Mint Macaron ink, was adhered along the top edge of the liner.

Youre_the_Best_Envelope

Three rows of the Brushstrokes background stamp were inked with Mint Macaron ink.  The left front edge of the Medium Whisper White envelope was placed over the inked rows and a scrap piece of paper placed over the envelope.  Then I rubbed my hand over the background stamp to ensure the ink was completely transferred to the envelope.

I really like the simple design of this card.  The sentiment takes center stage, but the details with the paper, lace, and rhinestones make my eyes happy.
