Flurry of Wishes in Tropical Blues

Hello!  Happy Tuesday!

It's a rainy day today and a good time to work on the projects for my annual Christmas card class.  One of the projects my customers will be making bears a distinct similarity to the second project I shared during the Stampin' Addicts Winter Holiday Blog Hop.  You can see all of the projects I shared at this post (where you can also follow the hop to see what all the other talented blog hostess presented).

Soft_Sky_Indigo

This card begins with a card base of Soft Sky cardstock.  A piece of Island Indigo cardstock, slightly smaller than the size of the card front was adhered to the center of the card front.  A piece of Shimmery White cardstock was embossed with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions embossing folder and adhered to the center of the Island Indigo cardstock.  The two smallest snowflakes from the Flurry of Wishes stamp set were stamped three times on Whisper White cardstock using Soft Sky ink, reinking the stamp every time.  The snowflakes were punched with the Snow Flurry punch and Stampin' Dimensionals attached to the back of each snowflake.  One of each size of the snowflakes was cut in half.  Two of the smallest punched snowflakes and one of the larger punched snowflakes were adhered to the Shimmery White cardstock along with the half snowflakes leaving an open area near the bottom right corner of the card front.  Note that you'll have one of the larger snowflakes left over.

The "Merry Christmas" sentiment was stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Island Indigo ink and die cut with the largest banner shape from the Bitty Banners Framelits.  The die cut banner was adhered to a slightly larger piece of Island Indigo cardstock and the ends of the cardstock cut into banner tails using Paper Snips.  The greeting was adhered to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Soft_Sky_Indigo_Inside

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the two smallest snowflakes randomly stamped at the upper right and lower left corners using Soft Sky ink.  The sentiment was stamped near the upper center of the liner using Island Indigo ink.  The remaining punched snowflake was adhered to the liner.

Soft_Sky_Indigo_Envelope

The two smallest snowflakes were randomly stamped at the lower left corner and along the left side of the front of the Medium Whisper White Envelope.  The "Merry Christmas" greeting was stamped over the snowflakes using Island Indigo ink at the lower left corner of the front of the envelope.

I really liked the soft, calm feel of this card.  AND the fact that this card is completely mailable!  No extra postage required is always a good thing with a handmade Christmas card.

I'll have the final project from the Stampin' Addicts Winter Holiday Blog Hop on Thursday.  I hope you'll stop by to see how easy the gift bag and tag were to make!

Have a great day!

Flurry of Wishes in Navy & Gold

Hello!

I promised to follow up with a bit more information about how the projects I featured during the Stampin' Addicts Winter Holiday Blog Hop are created.  This first post features the Christmas card in Navy and Gold.

Gold_Navy

Navy and Gold are a favorite of mine due to my time in the US Navy and that of my husband (retired USN), my brother (retired USN), my daughter (USN Vet), my son (active duty USN), and my nephew (active duty USN).  Navy and Gold seem to be in our DNA.

This card begins with a card base of Whisper White Thick cardstock.  Adhered to the card front is a piece of Gold Glimmer paper.  A piece of Night of Navy cardstock was randomly stamped with the snowflakes from the Snow Flurry stamp set using Versamark ink, covered with White Stampin' Emboss powder, and the embossing powder melted with the Heat Tool.  (Be sure to swipe the cardstock with the Embossing Buddy before stamping to cut down on stray embossing powder.)

A piece of Gold Glimmer paper was die cut with the Lots of Labels Framelits and adhered near the lower right corner of the embossed Night of Navy cardstock using Mini Glue Dots.  A length of Whisper White 5/8" Organza ribbon was wrapped around the Night of Navy cardstock so that the ribbon lays across the center of the die cut Gold Glimmer paper and knotted at the left side.  The Night of Navy cardstock was adhered to the center of the Gold Glimmer paper on the card base with Mini Glue Dots.  A piece of Whisper White cardstock was stamped with the Christmas greeting using Night of Navy ink, die cut with the next smaller size of Lots of Labels Framelits, and adhered at the center of the Gold Glimmer paper label with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Gold_Navy_Inside

The inside sentiment area of the card was randomly stamped with the two smallest snowflakes using Night of Navy ink.  The Christmas sentiment was stamped at the upper center, also using Night of Navy ink.  A piece of Night of Navy cardstock was adhered along the bottom edge and a slightly narrower piece of Gold Glimmer paper was adhered along the center of the Night of Navy cardstock strip using Mini Glue Dots.

Gold_Navy_Envelope

The two smaller snowflakes were randomly stamped along the front left edge of the Medium Whisper White Envelope.

I hope you enjoyed the Stampin' Addicts Winter Holiday Blog Hop.  If you haven't visited all the blog hostesses who featured projects using items from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog, it's not too late!  Just scroll down to this post and you can travel through the hop by clicking on the Next or Previous buttons near the bottom of each blog post.

Flurry of Wishes -- Stampin' Addicts Winter Holiday Blog Hop

WinterBanner

Welcome to the Stampin' Addicts Winter Holiday Blog Hop!  This blog hop showcases Winter Holiday projects featuring Stampin' Up! product from the Holiday Catalog.  If you're already on the hop, then you've just arrived from Holly Krautkremer's blog where she showcased the Peaceful Pines stamp set.  So many wonderful ideas!

With all the great products in the Holiday Catalog it was hard to decide what to showcase for the hop, but I decided upon the Flurry of Wishes stamp set that I won during a Prize Patrol at the Stampin' Up! Convention in July.  I was tickled to receive this stamp set because I knew it would be one that I would use for my Christmas Card classes.  My BFF Terry participates in my classes every year and she always looks for a card with snowflakes because she's from the Northeast and grew up with lots of snow in the Wintertime.

Gold_Navy

My first project is a bright and shiny Christmas card featuring heat embossed snowflakes on Night of Navy cardstock matted with Gold Glimmer paper and adhered to the Whisper White Thick cardstock base.  The greeting was stamped on Whisper White cardstock with Night of Navy ink, die cut with the Big Shot and the Lots of Labels Framelits, and matted with a slightly larger piece of die cut Gold Glimmer Paper.  Note that a piece of 5/8" Organza ribbon wraps around the card front.

Soft_Sky_Indigo

My next project is a much softer look than the first using Soft Sky and Island Indigo.  I really like this combination for the snowflakes because the little I choose to remember of snow was the quietness and stillness when the snow was falling in big fat flakes.  It was so beautiful!  This card features a piece of Shimmery White cardstock embossed in the Big Shot using the Softly Falling Textured Impressions embossing folder, matted with Island Indigo cardstock, and adhered to the Soft Sky card base.  The smaller two snowflakes were stamped with Soft Sky ink on Whisper White cardstock and punched out with the Snow Flurry punch.  The punched snowflakes were placed randomly on the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The "Merry Christmas" sentiment was stamped with Island Indigo ink on Whisper White cardstock and die cut with the Bitty Banners Framelits.  The banner was matted with a piece of Island Indigo cardstock and attached to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Gift_Bag

My final project is a gift bag made using the Gift Bag Punch Board with paper from the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper.  A bag topper was created from Shimmery White cardstock and Island Indigo cardstock using the Lots of Labels Framelits and stamped with the smaller two snowflakes using Pool Party ink.  Two 1/8" holes were punched near the top edge of the topper and Pool Party 1/4" Cotton ribbon threaded through and tied in a bow.  A gift tag for the bag was created with Shimmery White and Island Indigo cardstocks and the Tags & Labels Framelits.  The smallest snowflake was stamped on the tag using Pool Party ink and the second smallest snowflake was stamped on Whisper White cardstock, punched with the Snow Flurry punch, and adhered to the tag with a Stampin' Dimensional.  The Christmas greeting was stamped on Whisper White cardstock with Island Indigo ink, die cut with the Bitty Banners Framelits, and matted with Island Indigo cardstock.  The greeting was attached to the tag with Mini Glue Dots.  The tag was attached to the gift bag with Whisper White Baker's Twine.

I hope seeing these projects will inspire you to begin your Winter and Christmas cards and gifts.  It's such a busy time of the year and it's best to start carving time out as soon as you can.  Beginning Sunday I'll be publishing blog posts for each of the projects with more detailed instructions; so I hope you'll stop back next week for more information.

The next stop on the hop is Kathleen Brill-Myrice's blog and the beautiful projects she's made featuring the Reason for the Season stamp set.

If you started the hop here, you can travel backwards or forwards as the hop travels in a circle and you'll end up here, right where you started.  Just click on the links provided in the post or on the Next/Previous icons below.

Tag Talk for Baby -- GDP003

Happy Wednesday!

Taking time out from finishing up my projects for the Stampin' Addicts Winter Holiday Blog Hop to post this cute card I designed for this week's Global Design Project challenge (GDP003) which is a Baby Theme.

GDP_Theme_Baby

Tag_Talk_Baby

This card begins with a card base of Bermuda Bay.  A piece of Pool Party cardstock was stamped with the Brushstrokes background stamp using Versamark ink.  The edges of the cardstock were sponged with Pool Party ink.  A piece of Tear & Tape Adhesive was placed approximately 1-1/4" above the bottom edge of the Pool Party cardstock.  The top edge of Watermelon Wonder 1" Dotted Lace Trim was finger pleated along the adhesive with the ends of the ribbon folded to the back of the cardstock and adhered.  A piece of paper from the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack was adhered to the Pool Party cardstock using Stampin' Dimensionals.  A piece of Whisper White Seam Binding Ribbon was wrapped around the cardstock and Designer Series Paper and knotted on the left side.

A piece of Whisper White cardstock was stamped with the striped background from the Tag Talk stamp set and punched using the Label Bracket punch.  The label was adhered at the right side of the piece of paper from the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack using Stampin' Dimensionals.  I moved the orientation of the label so that the stripes followed the vertical pattern of the Brushstrokes stamped image.

The Welcome Baby image from the Tag Talk stamp set was stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Pool Party ink and punched with the 1" circle punch.  The stamp was cleaned and stamped again on Whisper White cardstock using Watermelon Wonder ink.  The "B" at the center of the image was punched out using the 1/2" circle punch.  The "B" was adhered to the center of the Welcome Baby using a Stampin' Dimensional and the Welcome Baby was adhered to the center of the Bermuda Bay striped label using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Tag_Talk_Baby_Inside

The inside sentiment area was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock with a piece of paper from the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack.  The "welcome, baby" sentiment from the Petite Pairs stamp set was stamped near the upper center of the liner using Watermelon Wonder ink.  The "so glad you're here" sentiment was stamped below the previous sentiment using Pool Party ink.

Tag_Talk_Baby_Envelope

A piece of paper from the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack was adhered to the envelope flap of the Medium Whisper White Envelope.

The great thing about this card is that all the Designer Series Paper pieces used for this card come from a single sheet of paper from the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack.  There were even a few pieces left over that can be used for punches later.  I really love that Stampin' Up! went to the 6" x 6" size for their paper stacks.  It's a much more versatile size.

Be sure to check out all the other submissions for this challenge at the Global Design Project.  You'll see some really adorable ideas for baby-themed projects.

Don't forget to come back on Friday for the Stampin' Addicts Winter Holiday Blog Hop!

Have a great day!

Sparkle and Shine for Christmas

Hi Everyone!

Happy Monday!  A busy weekend and now regathering for a busy week.  It's all good!  For example, one of my most important tasks this week is getting my projects ready for the Stampin' Addicts Winter Holiday Blog Hop beginning on Friday, September 25th.  I can't wait to see what the talented crafters at Stampin' Addicts come up with!  I hope you'll come back on Friday to see all the wonderful projects.

Today's post is the third project from my September clubs.  I just love all the shine and sparkle!  The shine comes from the Gold and Red Foil elements and the sparkle comes from the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper behind the ornament (which, unfortunately, is difficult to see in the picture).

Red_Foil_Ornament

This card begins with a card base of Soft Sky cardstock cut to 8-1/2" x 4-1/4" and scored at 5-1/2".  A 1" strip of Season of Cheer Designer Series Paper was adhered along the bottom edge of the inside sentiment area of the card and the four corners of the card base were rounded with the Project Life Corner Rounder.

A piece of Whisper White cardstock was stamped twice along the top of the cardstock with the holly branch image inked with Mossy Meadow and Real Red Stampin' Write Markers.  The Christmas greeting was stamped near the bottom center of the cardstock using Night of Navy ink.  The Whisper White cardstock was adhered to a slightly larger piece of Night of Navy cardstock and then adhered to the card front using Tear & Tape Adhesive.  Note that the cardstock is centered between the right and left edges of the card front.

A piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper was die cut using the solid wide ornament Delicate Ornament Thinlits Dies and adhered to the Whisper White cardstock using Mini Glue Dots.  A piece of Red Foil Sheets was die cut using the detailed wide ornament die.  (For this project I used a Big Shot sandwich--from bottom to top--of Magnetic Platform, Standard Cutting Plate, folded dryer sheet, Red Foil, die, Standard Cutting Plate.  You could also use the new Precision Plate which replaces the bottom Standard Cutting Plate and the dryer sheet.)  The Red Foil ornament was adhered to the Dazzling Diamonds ornament using rolled up Mini Glue Dots.  The ornament cap and ornament hanger were die cut using Gold Foil Sheets and adhered to the Red Foil ornament and Whisper White cardstock using Mini Glue Dots.

Red_Foil_Ornament_Inside

The inside sentiment area of the card was finished with a strip of Gold Foil Sheet adhered across the top edge of the Season of Cheer Designer Series Paper.  A piece of Whisper White cardstock was stamped with the Christmas sentiment and adhered to the card base with the bottom edge of the Whisper White cardstock butting up against the top edge of the Gold Foil strip.  Note that the cardstock is centered between the right and left edges of the card base.

Red_Foil_Ornament_Envelope

The holly branch image, inked with Mossy Meadow and Real Red Stampin' Write Markers, was stamped three times along the left front edge of the Whisper White Envelope.

I really like the simplicity of this card and the lovely sentiment that is included with this stamp set.  The best part of this card, other than the sparkle and shine, is that it is completely mailable!  No bumps or hard spots to get caught in the postal machine; so no extra postage or hand cancelling is required.  Woohoo!

Enjoy your week and be sure to return on Friday for the Stampin' Addicts Winter Holiday Blog Hop!  You'll be sure to find lots of inspiration for your holiday projects.
