Lovely Little Labels

SPOILER ALERT!!  If you are swapping with me at the Stampin' Addicts Meet & Greet and don't want to see your card early, be sure to pass up on this post.

Hi there!

I'm spending long hours in my work room these days getting swaps ready for the Stampin' Up! Convention next week.  [A swap is a card or card front that you trade with someone else--a huge spectator sport at Convention.]  I'm in a couple of organized swaps with my on-line friends at Stampin' Addicts during their Meet & Greet on Wednesday night; I am so looking forward to the opportunity to meet some great folks that I've been corresponding with on-line.  Here's the swap card for the As Many As You Want To Swap swap.

As I mentioned in my last post, this card is a stepped-up version of the workshop invitation card.  The basic card design is the same; however, the individual elements of the card have been taken up a notch or two.  As a reminder, here's the sketch of the basic card design and the workshop invitation.

As with the workshop invitation, the stepped-up card features the Floral District Designer Series Paper, Rich Razzleberry cardstock embossed in the Big Shot with the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions embossing folder, and a double mat of Whisper White and Baja Breeze cardstocks.  A piece of Daffodil Delight 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain ribbon is wrapped around the panel to cover the seam between the Designer Series Paper and embossed cardstock and knotted.  Instead of one tag hanging from the ribbon on Linen Thread, this time three tags hang from the ribbon on Whisper White Baker's Twine.

The tag borders and interior shape/word images come from the Lovely Little Labels stamp set.

  • The top tag is the oval tag stamped with Baja Breeze on Whisper White cardstock.  The "LOVE" image was stamped at the center of the tag using Rich Razzleberry ink.  The tag was punched with the corresponding shape punch from the Little Layers Punch Pack along with a second tag punched from Rich Razzleberry cardstock.  The two pieces were adhered together and a hole pierced at one end of the tag.  Crystal Effects were applied to the center of the tag to fill the interior of the stamped border.
  • The middle tag is the somewhat circular stamped with Daffodil Delight ink on Whisper White cardstock.  The key image was stamped at the center of the tag using Baja Breeze ink.  The tag was punched with the corresponding shape punch from the Little Layers Punch Pack along with a second tag punched from Baja Breeze cardstock.  The two pieces were adhered together and a hole pierced at the top center of the tag.  Crystal Effects were applied to the center of the tag to fille the interior of the stamped border.
  • The bottom tag is the square tag stamped with Rich Razzleberry on Whisper White cardstock.  The heart image was stamped at the center of the tag using Daffodil Delight ink.  The tag was cut out with Paper Snips along the outside edges of the stamped square.  The postage stamp punch, from the Little Layers Punch Pack, was used to punch a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock.  The stamped square was adhered to the center of the Daffodil Delight punched piece and a hole pierced at the upper right corner.  Crystal Effects was applied to fill the center of the stamped square.

Once the Crystal Effects dried, Whisper White Baker's Twine was threaded through the holes pierced into the tags and the twine knotted.  The panel was then adhered to the Daffodil Delight card base.

The focal point for the stepped-up card replaces the scallop circle punch with a layered flower.

The flower is comprised of five layers:

  • The first layer is a piece of Whisper White cardstock embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions embossing folder in the Big Shot and then die cut using the middle sized flower from the Floral Frames Framelits.  Rich Razzleberry ink was sponged across the cardstock and along the edges of the die cut flower.  The outer edges of the flower petals were gently rolled under using the Bone Folder.
  • The second layer is a piece of Floral District Designer Series Paper die cut with the second smallest flower from the Floral Frames Framelits in the Big Shot.  The edges of the die cut flower were sponged with Rich Razzleberry ink.  The outer edges of the flower petals were gently rolled under using the Bone Folder.  The flower was adhered to the center of the first layer with a bit of SNAIL.
  • The third layer is a piece of Floral District Designer Series Paper die cut with the smallest doily on the Delicate Doilies Sizzlits L in the Big Shot.  The edges of the doily were sponged with Rich Razzleberry ink.  The edges of the center of the doily were also sponged with Rich Razzleberry ink and set aside.  The doily was adhered at the center of the second layer with a bit of SNAIL.
  • The fourth layer is a piece of Floral District Designer Series Paper die cut in the Big Shot with the smallest flower from the Floral Frames Framelits.  The edges of the flower were sponged with Rich Razzleberry ink and the edges of the flower rolled up using the Bone Folder.  The flower was adhered to the center of the third layer with a bit of SNAIL.
  • A hole was pierced at the center of the flower and a Gold Brad inserted to hold the flower layers together.  Stampin' Dimensionals were placed on the back of the first layer and the flower adhered to the card front.
  • The fifth layer is the center of the doily die cut for the third layer.  It was adhered to the top of the Gold Brad with a Mini Glue Dot.

The swap is only for card fronts; however, I completed a card to share the "rest of the story."  The inside sentiment area was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock matted with a piece of Baja Breeze cardstock.  A piece of Floral District Designer Series Paper was adhered across the top of the Whisper White cardstock.  A floral medallion was added to the lower left corner of the liner comprised of all but the first layer of the focal point used for the card front.

The back flap of the Medium Whisper White Envelope was embossed in the Big Shot using the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions embossing folder.  However, I had to do some "plastic surgery" to the embossing folder before I could emboss the envelope.  This is because the new Textured Impressions embossing folders introduced in the 2012-2013 Stampin' Up! Catalog are longer than the previously released folders and will not fit into the Big Shot in the landscape orientation required to emboss an envelope flap.  I used guillotine cutter to trim off the ends of the folder so that it would fit into the Big Shot.  Don't worry, the trimming does not affect the use or shorten the embossing surface of the folder.  The embossed envelope flap was sponged with Rich Razzleberry ink.

The tag images were stamped at the lower left front corner of the Medium Whisper White Envelope using the same ink color/image combinations used for the tags hanging from the ribbon on the card front.  However, this time no Crystal Effects were used.

I'm really excited to be leaving for Salt Lake City in a few days.  I'm hoping to share another swap with you before I leave.

Your cards and projects are always so amazing that I think I'm going to have to just pick one feature to gush over ;)
The little tags on the thread are adorable. I noticed the set and punches in the catalog but didn't know how they would look. Too cute...

I was so thrilled to get one of these cards and to meet you (and hug you!) at the meet & greet. Your creations are always amazing, and the insides of your cards and envelope finishes are to-die-for!
