Sunny Fun with Flip Flops

Hello there!  I realized yesterday that it's been a month since I posted here and I just have to say "BAD Mickey!"

I'm so sorry to have been out of touch for so many weeks; but in actuality, time just seemed to get the better of me in the last month.  I can't say that the next few weeks will be a whole lot easier, so we'll see how it goes.

I have an adorable card to share with you to celebrate the beginning of Summer a few days ago.  Isn't it just too cute??!!??!!

How fun are those flip flops!?!?  This fun row of flip flops is just one of the adorable images you'll find in the Sunny Fun stamp set, featured in the Summer Mini Catalog.  I just love all the eye-popping color on this card!

The flip flops were stamped with Versamark on Whisper White cardstock and covered with Melon Mambo Stampin' Emboss Powder (also available from the Summer Mini Catalog).  Oh, and because I was stamping on Whisper White cardstock, I swiped the Embossing Buddy over the cardstock PRIOR to stamping to ensure that the embossing powder would stick only to the Versamark ink.  The excess embossing powder was tapped off the cardstock back into the container and the Heat Tool was used to melt the embossing powder.  I used Melon Mambo, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, and Tangerine Tango Stampin' Write Markers to add color to the embossed image.

The embossed Whisper White cardstock was adhered to Daffodil Delight cardstock.  The border you see above and below the Daffodil Delight cardstock was created by punching eight open petal flowers from Tempting Turquoise cardstock using the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch.  The flowers were adhered, side-by-side, along the top and bottom edges of the Daffodil Delight cardstock so that half of each punched flower was visible.  Once the flowers were adhered to the Daffodil Delight cardstock, the focal point was adhered to the Melon Mambo card base.  To finish up the focal point, a simple bow made from Whisper White 1/8" Taffeta ribbon was adhered near the lower center of the focal point with a Mini Glue Dot.

The inside sentiment area of this card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  The flip flop image was stamped along the left edge of the Whisper White cardstock using Basic Black ink.  Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, and Pacific Point Stampin' Write Markers were called upon to add color to the stamped image.  I think it's pretty neat that this image works when stamped either horizontally or vertically.

The flip flops were stamped one more time along the left edge of the Whisper White Medium Envelope.  And colored one more time with the Stampin' Write Markers.  I definitely got my "coloring with markers" fix on this card.

The coloring on all the elements of this card demonstrates that you can add just a little (as with the focal point and the envelope) or you can go all out (as shown on the inside sentiment area of the card) with color--it's up to you and the time you want to (or have available to) spend.  Using Stampin' Write Markers allows the coloring to proceed quickly and easily because these are double tipped markers.  Use the pen tip for writing and coloring small areas and the brush tip for coloring larger areas.  AND with Stampin' Write Markers, you can choose from all the great colors that are available with the Stampin' Up! Classic inks.

Yay! I just stopped by your blog last night, and was getting worried because you hadn't updated in so long! Funny thing, too, I'm working on this exact same stamp for club swaps. Great minds, and all that. ;-D

I've been wondering what to do with this set, and you've brought me some inspiration!
Love the way you used the Melon Mambo E.P. The punched border is beautiful, also! TFS

I love this for summer!! Using your punch to create a border is just perfect! Great colors, too.
