How is your week progressing? Mine seems to be speeding by. I hope you're taking time to enjoy the cooler weather and the emerging colors of Fall. I noticed that lots of folks were outside this weekend beginning their Halloween and Fall yard decorations and enjoying the more comfortable weather. Saturday I spent some time making the card you see below. It began as a Thank You card for the SASS Stamp Club members, then morphed into a Thinking of You card for a friend who is struggling, and then became a birthday card for my sister-in-law Carol and for my BFF Terry (both are HUGE fans of purple colors). That's when I finally remembered to take a picture.
The card begins with a base of Perfect Plum; the card front edges sponged with Perfect Plum ink. A piece of Crumb Cake cardstock (the color formerly known as Kraft) was run through the Big Shot with the Elegant Lines Textured Impressions embossing folder. Then the raised edges created by the embossing folder were lightly brushed with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint using a dry Aquapainter brush. [It's hard to see the shimmer in the photo, but it's very pretty in real life and lends an elegant feel to the card.] The edges of the Crumb Cake cardstock were sponged with Crumb Cake ink. A piece of Whisper White 5/8" Organza ribbon was wrapped around the embossed cardstock and knotted on the front. The Crumb Cake cardstock was adhered to a mat of Elegant Eggplant cardstock, the edges sponged with Elegant Eggplant ink, and placed centered on the Perfect Plum card front.
To "finish" the card, Pearls were placed in the embossed circles below the ribbon on the Crumb Cake cardstock. The "happy birthday" image from the Perfect Punches stamp set was stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Perfect Plum ink. The image was punched out with the Wide Oval punch and then the edges were sponged with Perfect Plum ink. The punched cardstock was adhered to a piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock punched with the Decorative Label punch, the edges sponged with Elegant Eggplant ink. The focal point was then adhered to the Crumb Cake cardstock, centered in the space above the ribbon, with Stampin' Dimensionals. [For the Thank You and Thinking of You cards, I used sentiments from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set and punched them out with the Large Oval punch.]
The Crumb Cake envelope flap was also embossed with the Elegant Lines Textured Impressions embossing folder. The edges of the envelope flap were sponged with Elegant Eggplant ink and then the sponge was brushed across the envelope flap to highlight the embossing.
A note about the Big Shot and this embossing folder: The embossing created by the Elegant Lines and Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions embossing folders is deeper than most of the other embossing folders, so for the "heavier" cardstocks (80 lb paper), I use Tab 1 on the Multi-Purpose Platform and no tab with the "lighter" cardstocks (60 lb paper or less) and envelope flaps. Otherwise, you may find that the embossing folder will cut through the lighter weight papers and envelope flaps.
