It's well worth the visit.
This weekend was the October meeting of the SASS Stamp Club and the club members really had to keep their heads down and their hands busy to finish all their projects in the allotted time. Here's the first of the three projects that they made. Isn't it adorable???
The stamp used for the focal point of this card is called Sweet Snowglobe and it's just too cute! It's sold as a single stamp in the Holiday Mini Catalog and I think it's a MUST HAVE. Change out the scene in the snowglobe and you can use this stamp for any occasion. The snowglobe was stamped with Marina Mist ink on Whisper White cardstock. A 1 3/4" circle punch was used to punch the winter scene out of the stamped image. Then the stamp was inked again, but laid on its back on the tabletop for some modification. A blender pen was used to remove the blue ink from the house and the trees. This ink was replaced by using the brush tip of a Real Red Stampin' Write marker for the house and a Garden Green Stampin' Write Marker for the trees. Then the image was stamped on another piece of Whisper White cardstock (after "huff"ing on the stamp to remoisten the ink). A 2-Way Glue Pen was used to apply ink to the snowy areas of the winter scene and then the image was dusted with Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter. Once that dried, a small pile of White Chunky Essentials Stampin' Glitter was placed in the middle of the colored winter scene and a Sweet Treat cup was placed on top of the snowglobe to create the "glass dome" of the snowglobe (wipe the inside of the Sweet Treat cup with a dryer sheet to remove the static so that the glitter won't stick to the Sweet Treat cup). A few pieces of Sticky Strip were placed around the edges of the Sweet Treat cup and the cardstock trimmed away before placing the first snowglobe image (the one with the winter scene punched out) directly on top of the colored snowglobe image.
To finish the focal point, the edges of the Whisper White cardstock were sponged with Wild Wasabi ink and then adhered to a mat of Wild Wasabi cardstock; the edges sponged with Wild Wasabi ink. This piece was adhered to another mat: this time Marina Mist cardstock; the edges sponged with Marina Mist ink. Finally, a piece of Rose Red cardstock was punched with the Scallop Trim Border punch on the bottom edge and the edges sponged with Rose Red ink before adhering the snowglobe and mats. A piece of Marina Mist 1/4" grosgrain ribbon was wrapped around the open space of the Rose Red mat and knotted on front. The focal point was adhered to the Wild Wasabi base card. The base card was wheeled with the Jolly Jingles Jumbo Stampin' Around wheel using Wild Wasabi ink.

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock; the edges sponged with Wild Wasabi ink. A Christmas sentiment from the Occasional Quotes stamp set was stamped in Rose Red ink.
Because of the Sweet Treat cup, this card will not fit into a Medium Whisper White envelope. This type of card would need to be attached to a gift like a tag or hand delivered. It can be mailed, but you'd need to purchase the mailing envelopes from Stampin' Up! designed for mailing cards made with the Sweet Treat cups, use a bubble mailer, or a small box. In any case, mailing this card on its own would require hand cancellation, which means extra postage. Something to think about if you decide you'd like to make this card for your family's annual Christmas greeting card. However, the SASS Stamp Club members agreed that for those REALLY SPECIAL people, this card would certainly be worth the postage!
