It's rather hard to contain my excitement today. I'm finishing up my packing for a long awaited trip to Alaska. I'm so excited! I'll be traveling with my sister and we have so much planned for our week long cruise.
But before I leave, I wanted to post another project from the August SASS Stamp Club meeting. When I took a peek at the new Stampin' Up! catalog in early July, one of the first stamp sets I decided I just had to have was Wicked Cool. I just loved the images in this stamp set; especially the witch's boots. All I could think of was the Wicked Witch of the East and her boots with those crazy striped socks sticking out from under Dorothy's house when she landed in Oz.
The hostess for the first stamp club meeting, Sandy, was interested in the House of Haunts stamp set, so I decided to combine both sets for a truly Spooky card. What do you think?
The dead tree with owl image from the House of Haunts stamp set was stamped on Naturals White cardstock with Versamark and then heat embossed with Black Stampin' Emboss powder. A 1 3/4" circle punch was used to create a mask from a Post-It Note to put over the top of the tree. Then the ground and the sky were sponged onto the cardstock using Garden Green, Night of Navy, and Basic Gray inks. Once that sponging was completed, the mask was removed and then the moon was sponged into the area previously covered by the mask with Daffodil Delight ink and More Mustard ink. Finally the edges of the cardstock were sponged with Basic Black ink. The focal point was adhered to a piece of Daffodil Delight (with the edges sponged with Early Espresso ink). A hole was pierced in each corner of the Naturals White cardstock and Basic Black brads were inserted into the holes and the brad legs set on the back of the Daffodil Delight cardstock. The focal point was adhered to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock (the edges sponged with Early Espresso ink) with Stampin' Dimensionals.
The "Spooky" image from the Wicked Cool stamp set was stamped on the lower front edge of the Pumpkin Pie card base with Versamark and heat embossed with Black Stampin' Emboss powder. The spider web image, also from Wicked Cool, was randomly stamped around the edges of the card front using Early Espresso ink. Then the edges of the card front were sponged with Early Espresso to create a bit of a grungy look. The focal point image and mats were adhered with SNAIL in the open area between the top edge of the card front and "Spooky."

The inside of the card is lined with a piece of Naturals White cardstock. The spider web image was stamped three times in the lower right corner of the cardstock and the "have a WICKED halloween" sentiment was stamped (both images with Early Espresso ink) near the upper center of the cardstock.

The spider web was also stamped three times in the lower left front corner of the envelope using Early Espresso ink. The witch's boots image (from Wicked Cool) was inked with Stampin' Write Markers in Basic Black, Concord Crush, and Daffodil Delight and then stamped along the bottom left edge of the envelope, somewhat reminiscent of the Wicked Witch of the East. Hovering above those cha-cha boots is the "happy halloween" sentiment from the House of Haunts stamp set. This image was inked with Pumpkin Pie ink and then the spider hanging from the "h" in "happy" and the spider sitting on top of the "n" in "halloween" were inked with the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker. Tip: Huff on images that you ink with markers to remoisten the ink before stamping.
Well, back to packing. Have a few more items to gather and stow and then try to get a good night's sleep before heading to the airport in the morning. Did I mention I'm really excited about this trip? Well, just in case I haven't....I AM!!
See you after Labor Day! Have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend.
