Defining Gratitude

Hello!  Happy Friday!

I'm looking forward to a creative weekend.  I received my boxes of the Stampin' Up! 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog yesterday and I'm combing the pages looking for great ideas for classes and workshops.  I've found some great new stamp sets, some yummy new ribbons and buttons and new Designer Series Papers to die for!  Oh, I can hear my bank account groaning...  If you'd like a new catalog, be sure to contact me.  I'd love to share my excitement with you!

One of the neatest perks of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is that you can order a few of the new items a month before the catalog (or Mini Catalog) is released so that you can become familiar with the product.  I chose to focus my pre-order on the new colors that will be available with the Color Renovation.  I'm really liking the stream-lined color families!  The new Color Coach has been my very good friend as I've begun to familiarize myself with the new core colors and In Colors, looking for interesting and eye-catching color combinations.

One of the neatest colors in this years group of In Colors is Poppy Parade.  My husband asked for some Thank You cards for his Father's Day gifts, so I decided to see what I could do with this color.  The Color Coach suggested Baja Breeze, So Saffron, and Tangerine Tango.  I thought, "hmmmm...", but decided to give it a chance.  It's actually a pretty good combination for a card that a guy would be comfortable sending (the absence of "frou-frou" factor is important to my husband).

The base card is Poppy Parade, the art piece is Very Vanilla matted with Tangerine Tango and So Saffron, and the sentiment piece is Very Vanilla matted with So Saffron and Baja Breeze.  I used the Circle Circus and Define Your Life stamp sets for this design.  The Circle Circus elements are stamped with Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Tangerine Tango, and Poppy Parade.  The sentiment is stamped with Tangerine Tango and the words are highlighted with the brush tip of a So Saffron Stampin' Write Marker.  You'll note that one of the stamped elements on the art piece was stamped on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla, cut out with Paper Snips, and adhered to the upper left corner of the art piece with a Stampin' Dimensional.  The left side of the sentiment piece is attached to the art piece with Sticky Strip and the right side attaches to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.  A Very Vanilla 1/8" Taffeta ribbon (NEW!!!) is wrapped around the art piece and sentiment and knotted.  There's a Mini Glue Dot hiding under the knot to hold the ribbon in place.

The interior sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Very Vanilla stamped with more images from Circle Circus in Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Tangerine Tango, and Poppy Parade.

The lower left corner of the envelope front  was also stamped with images from Circle Circus in Tangerine Tango, Baja Breeze, So Saffron, and Poppy Parade.

With a design this simple, it didn't take long to make 8 of these cards.  I just cut out all the pieces and set up an assembly line of stamping.  It's actually a very relaxing thing to do with a baseball game or NCIS rerun playing in the background.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend doing something you love to do.

Very cool masculine THANK YOU card. I love the way you carry the theme to the inside and the envelopes, as well. I wasn't sure about Poppy Parade at first, but it is quickly taking it's place among my top faves of the new colors (along side Cherry Cobbler, Pear Pizzazz, and Early Espresso. Oh, and Daffodil Delight, and Marina Mist, and.......) :)

Those colors worked out perfectly! I like your clean and simple design. Another great card to CASE!

I love this! Everything about it. Ilove the polished look, the colors, and most of all I love the entire package! Card front, inside AND envelope! Love it!

Cool color combination. I wouldn't think to put them together, either, but it does look good. (And definitely not frou-frou!)
