Medallions in Monochrome

Haunting in Monochrome

Happy Friday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Lately, I've challenged myself to do more work in monochrome.  Now that it's October, what better monochrome to use than black and white for a Halloween card!  Here's a card I designed for the September SASS meeting.

If you look closely, you'll see that even though this card sticks with a black and white scheme, there's plenty of interest.  The Medallion stamp on the card base (behind the house) lends a Gothic look; it's stamped with Versamark, dusted with Clear Stampin' Emboss powder, and heat set with the embossing Heat Tool.  The torn paper strips are from the Night & Day Specialty Designer Series Paper; the torn edges are sponged with Basic Gray Classic ink to grunge up the white core.

The next layer shows the haunted house stamped with Basic Black Craft ink on Whisper White cardstock, then dusted with Black Stampin' Emboss powder, and heat set with the embossing Heat Tool.  [Helpful Tip:  To keep the Black Stampin' Emboss powder from straying onto un-inked areas of the Whisper White cardstock, wipe the Embossing Buddy across the Whisper White cardstock before stamping.]  The edges of the Whisper White cardstock are sponged with Basic Gray Classic ink and then mounted onto Basic Gray cardstock with SNAIL.  Stampin' Dimensionals are placed on the back of the Basic Gray cardstock and the piece is mounted onto the front of the card.

To finish the design, a piece of Basic Gray Taffeta ribbon is wrapped around the card front and knotted on the front.  To make the house just a tiny bit spookier, I used a Summer Sun marker to color in one of the upstairs windows of the house.

So much for the monochrome...

Happy Haunting!
