Happy Labor Day! Labor Day in my area is a quiet day spent with family and friends. Some are out in their boats on the rivers and others are lighting the barbecues in backyards and parks. In Central Florida, we don't really think about the end of summer in early September. It's still going to be pretty warm for a few months yet. When we talk to friends and family in the northern climes who are already complaining about chilly mornings, we try to drum up some sincerity in our responses of sympathy; for us, a cool morning is months away. For me and my husband, we're putzing around the house today. I'm creating in my stamp room and he's taming the yard. Right about now, the swimming pool is definitely calling his name.
Today I'm spending some time working with a background stamp called Medallion. It's shown in the Elements section of the Stampin' Up! 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog, but it's more than just a background stamp. I've seen some amazing projects made with this stamp using a wide variety of styles and techniques. It's just so versatile! Small wonder that Stampin' Up! announced that this stamp was it's best selling stamp from the new catalog. This photo shows an Anniversary card that I made for my sister and her husband. This design is based on a card I made for a friend of mine who wanted something special for a 50th wedding anniversary. One thing you don't really see in the photo is the shine from the gold embossing powder. It certainly makes an elegant statement.
Hope you enjoy your Labor Day holiday! Be sure to spend a moment or two remembering those who are working today to ensure your safety: our health care workers, military, police officers, and fire fighters.
