Crazy About You in a Box -- Part 2

Hello!

Today's post is a continuation of the previous post sharing a class project featuring four note cards in a magazine holder-style box.

Magazine_Holder

In this post I'll be sharing the third and fourth cards in the box.  The third card has a masculine feel taken from the colors in the English Garden Designer Series Paper.

Thinking_of_You

This card begins with a card base of Mossy Meadow cardstock.  A rectangular window was cut into the upper center of a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Mint Macaron cardstock using the Stampin' Trimmer.  To do this:

  1. Place the Stampin' Trimmer on the table top with the cutting edge to the left.
  2. Place the Mint Macaron cardstock on the Stampin' Trimmer with the 5-1/4" edge vertical and the left edge of the cardstock extending to the 3/4" mark on the left side of the cutting strip.  Place the pointer of the cutting blade at 1" on the cutting strip and move the cutting blade up the cutting strip until the pointer on the cutting blade reaches the 4-1/2" mark on the cutting strip.
  3. Turn the cardstock 90 degrees so that the 4" edge is vertical and 3/4" of the cardstock extends beyond the left edge of the cutting strip.  Place the pointer of the cutting blade at 3/4" on the cutting strip and move the cutting blade up the cutting strip until the pointer on the cutting blade reaches the 3-1/4" mark on the cutting strip.
  4. Turn the cardstock 90 degrees so that the 5-1/4" edge is vertical with the left edge of the cardstock extending to the 3/4" mark on the left side of the cutting strip.  Place the pointer of the cutting blade at 3/4" on the cutting strip and move the cutting blade up the cutting strip until the pointer on the cutting blade reaches the 4-1/4" mark on the cutting strip.
  5. Turn the cardstock 90 degrees so that the 4" edge is vertical with the left edge of the cardstcok extending to the 1" mark on the left side of the cutting strip.  Place the pointer of the cutting blade at 3/4" on the cutting strip and move the cutting blade up the cutting strip until the pointer on the cutting blade reaches the 3-1/4" mark on the cutting strip.

Emboss the Mint Macaron cardstock in the Big Shot with the Brick Wall Textured Impressions embossing folder.  Placing a Mini Glue Dot at each corner of the window on the BACK of the embossed cardstock.  Place a 2-3/4" x 4" piece of English Garden Designer Series Paper face up on the table top and place window over the Designer Series Paper.  Adhere the embossed cardstock to the card base.

The scalloped flower from the Crazy About You stamp set was inked with Night of Navy ink, stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and punched with the 1-3/4" scallop circle punch.  Using Paper Snips, cut part way between each of the flower petals and then curl the petals up using the bone folder.  Thread a piece of Whisper White Baker's Twine through the holes in the Gold Basic Metal Button and knot.  Attach button to the center of the flower.  Using Mossy Meadow ink, stamp the leaf image on Whisper White cardstock and cut out with Paper Snips.  Attach the leaf near the bottom right corner of the window with a Mini Glue Dot and the flower over the leaf image with a Stampin' Dimensional.

Die cut the "you" thinlit in the Big Shot using Night of Navy cardstock.  Attach the "you" across the Designer Series Paper inside the window using rolled up Mini Glue Dots OR 2-Way Glue Pen OR Fine Tip Glue Pen.

Stamp the "THINKING OF" sentiment on Whisper White cardstock using Night of Navy ink.  Center the sentiment in the punch window of the Modern Label punch (Retired) and punch.  Punch a second label with Mossy Meadow cardstock.  Cut the Mossy Meadow label in half at the dip in the center of the label and attach to the back of the Whisper White label so that approximately 1/8" of the Mossy Meadow halves extend beyond the right and left edges of the Whisper White label.  Attach the sentiment at the upper left corner of the window using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Thinking_of_You_InsideThinking_of_You_Envelope

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  A coordinating strip of English Garden Designer Series Paper was adhered across the top edge of the liner.  The envelope flap of the Medium Whisper White Envelope was embossed in the Big Shot using the Brick Wall Textured Impressions embossing folder.

Supplies I used for this card --

Stamps:  Crazy About You; Inks:  Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy; Cardstock:  Mint Macaron, Mossy Meadow, Whisper White; Designer Series Paper:  English Garden; Embellishments:  Gold Basic Metal Buttons, Whisper White Baker's Twine; Adhesives:  Fast Fuse, Mini Glue Dots, Stampin' Dimensionals; Tools:  Stampin' Trimmer, Simply Scored Scoring Tool, Bone Folder, Paper Snips, 1-3/4" Scallop circle punch, Modern Label punch (Retired), Big Shot w/Standard Cutting Plates, Multi-Purpose Platform, Brick Wall Textured Impressions embossing folder, Magnetic Platform, Hello You Thinlits; Other:  Medium Whisper White Envelope

The fourth card is my favorite for two reasons:  the first is that it's a shaker card and the second is because those bees just make me happy!

Shaker_Card

This card begins with a piece of Soft Suede cardstock die cut in the Big Shot near the upper center using the Lots of Labels Framelits.  The cardstock was then embossed in the Big Shot using the Honeycomb Textured Impressions embossing folder.  A piece of Hello Honey cardstock was die cut in the Big Shot using the next larger size Lots of Label Framelit used for the window with the die cut used for the window placed inside the larger Framelit.  This creates a frame for the window.  Attach the frame to the front of the embossed Soft Suede cardstock using Mini Glue Dots OR 2-Way Glue Pen OR Fine Tip Glue Pen.

Turn the Soft Suede cardstock face down on the table top and place a piece of Window Sheet cut in a rectangle slightly larger than the height and width of the window opening.  Place a Mini Glue Dot at each corner of the window sheet and adhere the window sheet over the window opening.  Place a line of Stampin' Dimensionals approximately 1/8" away from the edge of the window (use the outside border pieces in long strips where you can) making sure that the Dimensionals butt up against each other so that none of the filler can escape between the Dimensionals later.  Place the filler on top of the window sheet.  For this card I used hearts punched from Hello Honey cardstock using the Confetti Hearts Border punch, stars punched from Soft Suede cardstock using the Confetti Stars Border punch, and Metallics Sequin Assortment.  Remove the adhesive covering from the Stampin' Dimensionals and place a piece of English Garden Designer Series Paper slightly larger than the height and width of the window opening over the window and filler and press in place.  Wrap a piece of Gold 1/8" ribbon around the bottom of the Soft Suede cardstock and knot on the left front.  Place Stampin' Dimensionals along the edges of the Soft Suede cardstock and adhere to the Hello Honey card base.

Using Soft Suede ink, stamp "BIRTHDAY" on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Center the sentiment in the punch window of the Large Oval punch and punch.  Punch a piece of Gold Foil Sheet with the Scallop Oval punch.  Adhere the sentiment at the center of the Gold Scallop Oval.  Adhere the sentiment near the lower right corner of the window using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Using the "happy" thinlit, die cut a piece of Gold Foil Sheet in the Big Shot and place across the window adhering to the Soft Suede cardstock using rolled up Mini Glue Dots, 2-Way Glue Pen, or Fine Tip Glue Pen.

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  A coordinating strip of English Garden Designer Series Paper was adhered across the top edge of the liner.  The envelope flap of the Medium Whisper White Envelope was embossed in the Big Shot using the Honeycomb Textured Impressions embossing folder.

Supplies I used for this card --

Stamps:  Crazy About You; Inks:  Soft Suede; Cardstock:  Hello Honey, Soft Suede, Gold Foil Sheets, Window Sheets, Whisper White; Designer Series Paper:  English Garden; Embellishments:  Metallics Sequin Assortment, Gold 1/8" ribbon; Adhesives:  Fast Fuse, Mini Glue Dots, Stampin' Dimensionals; Tools:  Stampin' Trimmer, Simply Scored Scoring Tool, Bone Folder, Paper Snips, Large Oval punch, Scallop Oval punch, Confetti Hearts Border punch, Confetti Stars Border punch, Big Shot w/Standard Cutting Plates, Multi-Purpose Platform, Honeycomb Textured Impressions embossing folder, Magnetic Platform, Lots of Labels Framelits, Hello You Thinlits; Other:  Medium Whisper White Envelope

Your Presents -- Part 2

Happy Monday!

Hope you had a great weekend!  I've been keeping busy getting ready for my annual Christmas card classes.  The first class is this coming weekend and I'm getting excited about starting the classes.  If you haven't signed up, there's still time to join the class on November 21st.  Click on the E-Mail Mickey button near the top right corner of the blog page to contact me for more information.

Today's post presents another card from the idea sheet that Stampin' Up! provided Convention goers with their Make & Take kits using the Your Presents stamp set.

Kraft_Center_Package

This card begins with a Kraft cardstock base.  This cardstock is a bit different from Crumb Cake cardstock and I like the look of it with the Real Red and Garden Green.  The card front was randomly stamped with the plain circle image using Versamark ink.  A Tea Lace Doily was adhered to the center of the card front and a piece of Gold Glimmer Paper was adhered to the center of the Tea Lace Doily.

A piece of Whisper White cardstock was stamped with a cross-hatch pattern.  To do this, ink the stripes image with Real Red ink and "Kiss" the plain square stamp onto the stripes image.  Reink the stripes image and "Kiss" the plain square stamp onto the stripes image, but this time turn the plain square 90 degrees.  Huff on the plain square stamp to remoisten the ink and stamp on the Whisper White cardstock.  Because of the size of the package, you'll need to stamp the image more than once.  It's more important to get the subsequent stamping as close as possible to the edge of the initial stamping than to match up the lines.  (That's why there's vertical and horizontal pieces of Gold 1/8" ribbon, the ends adhered with Mini Glue Dots on the back of the cardstock.)

The package was placed over a piece of Whisper White cardstock leaving approximately 1-1/4" below the package and 1" above the package.  Place a pencil dot on the Whisper White cardstock to mark the center top and center bottom of the package and place package aside.  Using Basic Gray ink, stamp "joy" near the bottom edge of the Whisper White cardstock and using Garden Green cardstock, stamp the three-point bow image with the point of the bow at the pencil mark at the top of the package.  Adhere the Whisper White cardstock to the Gold Glimmer Paper.  Adhere the package to the Whisper White cardstock using Stampin' Dimensionals.  Add a folded piece of Garden Green 1/8" striped ribbon and a bow made of Whisper White Baker's Twin to the top center of the package using Mini Glue Dots.

Kraft_Center_Package_Inside

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  A piece of Whisper White cardstock was stamped with the cross-hatch using Real Red ink on the plain square stamp.  The image was cut out using Paper Snips and a piece of Garden Green 1/8" striped ribbon was placed vertically with the ends folded to the back of the package and adhered with Mini Glue Dots.  The three-pronged bow image was stamped near the bottom left corner of the liner using Garden Green ink and the package adhered below the bow using Mini Glue Dots.

Kraft_Center_Package_Envelope

The cross-hatch package was stamped near the lower left front corner of the Medium Whisper White Envelope using Real Red ink.  The three-prong bow image was stamped at the upper center of the package using Garden Green ink (the Stamp-a-ma-jig was a huge help with this placement).  The "joy" image was stamped across the lower part of the package using Basic Gray ink.

I really like the combination of the Kraft cardstock with the Gold Glimmer Paper and Tea Lace Doily.  It seems to me it's a bit of earthiness with glitz that's very appealing.  Certainly something that I wouldn't have thought of so I'm very glad that the Stampin' Up! designers put it out there for me to consider and copy.  To see a great video about "kissing," check out this link.

Have a great day!

Your Presents -- Part 1

Hello and Happy Saturday!

One of the things you'd expect at a Stampin' Up! Convention is stamping!  When we received our convention bags, most of the stuff we needed to complete our Make & Takes was included in the bag--the rest was on the table in the Make & Take classroom.  This year's stamp set was Your Presents, a stamp set from the Holiday Catalog.  We made one card for Christmas and another for a Birthday; showing that the stamp set was a pretty versatile item for year-round use.  Here are the Make & Take cards.

Christmas_Conv_Make-Take Birthday_Conv_Make-Take

The birthday greeting comes from the Guy Greetings stamp set.  Both of these cards are pretty cute and feature a stamping technique called "Kissing."

One of the neat things about this year's Make & Takes was the photo sheet included in our supply kit with lots more ideas for cards made using this stamp set.  Here's my interpretation of one of the photos.

Center_Ornament

How fun is this card!  The card base is Whisper White Thick cardstock.  A piece of Whisper White cardstock was randomly stamped with the plain circle image using Pool Party ink stamped off before stamping on the cardstock.  Three of the plain circles were stamped off, "Kissed" to the tree image inked with Garden Green ink, and then stamped on the Whisper White.  The Whisper White was adhered to the card base.

A piece of Garden Green cardstock was cut into a banner using the Triple Banner punch and then stamped with the diagonal stripes image using Garden Green ink.  Then the diagonal stripes image was stamped again over the existing stripes by turning the diagonal stripes 90 degrees to make a cross hatch.  (I used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line up the stripes for all the stamping because I'm kind of intense about my stuff lining up.)  The banner was adhered to the Whisper White piece on the card front.  A piece of Garden Green 1/8" Striped Ribbon was placed vertically on the banner and adhered with Mini Glue Dots.

The "joy" image was stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Real Red ink and punched with the 2" circle punch.  Pool Party ink was lightly sponged on the ornament.  The ornament cap was stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Smoky Slate ink and cut out with Paper Snips.  The ornament cap was attached to the back top of the ornament using a Mini Glue Dot.  The ornament was adhered to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.  A piece of Whisper White Baker's Twine was tied in a bow and attached to the top of the ornament using a rolled up Mini Glue Dot.

The peppermint candies were created by stamping the three-pronged bow image twice point-to-point on Whisper White cardstock using Real Red ink (the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig was my friend here, too).  The candies were punched out with the 3/4" circle punch.  Pool Party ink was lightly sponged on the top and along the edges of the candies and adhered to the card front with Mini Glue Dots.

Center_Ornament_Inside

The plain circles and "Kissed" circles were stamped along the bottom third of the inside sentiment area of the card.  A peppermint candy was adhered among the circles using a Mini Glue Dot.

Center_Ornament_Envelope

The plain circles and a "Kissed" circle were stamped along the front left edge of the Medium Whisper White envelope.

If you are not familiar with "Kissing" or with using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I encourage you to go to You Tube to view the video tutorials.  Both techniques are easy to do; however in the case of the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, a little practice is helpful before working on your final project.  I don't use the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig often but find it an invaluable tool in situations where I want an image to line up properly.  Here's a great video on You Tube for the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig and here's a video on You Tube for the "Kissing" technique.

Have a great weekend!

Sparkle and Shine for Christmas

Hi Everyone!

Happy Monday!  A busy weekend and now regathering for a busy week.  It's all good!  For example, one of my most important tasks this week is getting my projects ready for the Stampin' Addicts Winter Holiday Blog Hop beginning on Friday, September 25th.  I can't wait to see what the talented crafters at Stampin' Addicts come up with!  I hope you'll come back on Friday to see all the wonderful projects.

Today's post is the third project from my September clubs.  I just love all the shine and sparkle!  The shine comes from the Gold and Red Foil elements and the sparkle comes from the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper behind the ornament (which, unfortunately, is difficult to see in the picture).

Red_Foil_Ornament

This card begins with a card base of Soft Sky cardstock cut to 8-1/2" x 4-1/4" and scored at 5-1/2".  A 1" strip of Season of Cheer Designer Series Paper was adhered along the bottom edge of the inside sentiment area of the card and the four corners of the card base were rounded with the Project Life Corner Rounder.

A piece of Whisper White cardstock was stamped twice along the top of the cardstock with the holly branch image inked with Mossy Meadow and Real Red Stampin' Write Markers.  The Christmas greeting was stamped near the bottom center of the cardstock using Night of Navy ink.  The Whisper White cardstock was adhered to a slightly larger piece of Night of Navy cardstock and then adhered to the card front using Tear & Tape Adhesive.  Note that the cardstock is centered between the right and left edges of the card front.

A piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper was die cut using the solid wide ornament Delicate Ornament Thinlits Dies and adhered to the Whisper White cardstock using Mini Glue Dots.  A piece of Red Foil Sheets was die cut using the detailed wide ornament die.  (For this project I used a Big Shot sandwich--from bottom to top--of Magnetic Platform, Standard Cutting Plate, folded dryer sheet, Red Foil, die, Standard Cutting Plate.  You could also use the new Precision Plate which replaces the bottom Standard Cutting Plate and the dryer sheet.)  The Red Foil ornament was adhered to the Dazzling Diamonds ornament using rolled up Mini Glue Dots.  The ornament cap and ornament hanger were die cut using Gold Foil Sheets and adhered to the Red Foil ornament and Whisper White cardstock using Mini Glue Dots.

Red_Foil_Ornament_Inside

The inside sentiment area of the card was finished with a strip of Gold Foil Sheet adhered across the top edge of the Season of Cheer Designer Series Paper.  A piece of Whisper White cardstock was stamped with the Christmas sentiment and adhered to the card base with the bottom edge of the Whisper White cardstock butting up against the top edge of the Gold Foil strip.  Note that the cardstock is centered between the right and left edges of the card base.

Red_Foil_Ornament_Envelope

The holly branch image, inked with Mossy Meadow and Real Red Stampin' Write Markers, was stamped three times along the left front edge of the Whisper White Envelope.

I really like the simplicity of this card and the lovely sentiment that is included with this stamp set.  The best part of this card, other than the sparkle and shine, is that it is completely mailable!  No bumps or hard spots to get caught in the postal machine; so no extra postage or hand cancelling is required.  Woohoo!

Enjoy your week and be sure to return on Friday for the Stampin' Addicts Winter Holiday Blog Hop!  You'll be sure to find lots of inspiration for your holiday projects.
