Today's post provides the how-to's for creating one of the cards designed for the Inky Friends Love It Live It Share It Blog Hop in February where we featured stamp sets from the Occasions Catalog. I chose the Truly Tailored stamp set. To see a line up of all the Stampin' Up! artists who participated in the hop, click here. To begin the hop, click here.
One of the things that drew me to the True Gentleman Suite in the Occasions Catalog was the deep, rich colors and clean, crisp patterns in the True Gentleman Designer Series Paper. Add that to the fun images in the stamp set, and you have a winner! Then I sat down to create and I felt a bit overwhelmed trying to figure out where to start. That happens, sometimes, so I went to my go-to card design to get my mojo back.
The great thing about working with a Stampin' Up! product suite is that you know that everything in the suite will be color coordinated. For this card, I chose the stamp image I wanted to use from the Truly Tailored stamp set, found a coordinating sheet of paper from the Truly Gentleman Designer Series Paper, picked a coordinating embellishment, and I was ready to go.
This card begins with a card base of Thick Very Vanilla cardstock. Two pieces of True Gentleman Designer Series Paper were cut to 2-1/2" x 3-3/4" (the top piece) and 2-3/4" x 3-3/4" (the bottom piece) and placed on mat of Night of Navy cardstock (4" x 5-1/4"). The top piece of Designer Series Paper was adhered to the mat with the left, top, and right edges of the Designer Series Paper 1/8" from the left, top, and right edges of the mat. The bottom piece of Designer Series Paper was adhered to the mat with the left, bottom, and right edges of the Designer Series Paper 1/8" from the left, bottom, and right edges of the mat. A piece of Night of Navy Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon was wrapped around the mat and tied in a knot over the seam between the top and bottom pieces of Designer Series Paper. The mat was adhered at the center of the card front.
The "Lookin' Sharp" image, from the Truly Tailored stamp set, was stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock using Night of Navy ink. The image was cut out with Paper Snips and adhered at the center of a piece of Tranquil Tide cardstock punched with the Tailored Tag punch. The focal point was adhered at the center of the top piece of Designer Series Paper using Stampin' Dimensionals.
The inside sentiment area of the card was stamped with the "Today is Your Day Celebrate in Style" sentiment at the upper center using Night of Navy ink. The arrow symbol was stamped at the left and right side of the sentiment, so that the arrows "point" toward the sentiment, using Tranquil Tide ink.
The "Lookin' Sharp" stamp image was stamped at the center of the Medium Very Vanilla Envelope flap using Night of Navy ink.
This card design is so quick and easy that you can make a stack of cards in no time at all. That's why it's my go-to design.
