Happy Birthday Gorgeous -- Happy Birthday Gift Bag

Hi There!

Today's post provides the how-to's for creating one of the projects designed for the Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop featuring the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.  To see a line up of all the Stampin' Up! artists who participated in the hop, click here.  To begin the hop, click here.

Good things come in small packages.  Right?  Well, the small thing inside this decorated gift bag must be pretty special -- or better yet, the person receiving the gift is pretty special.  I think it should always be the person.

HappyBirthdayGorgeous_GiftBag

This decorated gift bag is created with the Gift Bag Punch Board using a piece of Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper featuring Berry Burst foil.  The paper was punched and scored to create a Medium Gift Bag (including punching the holes at the top of the bag).  Thread a length of Whisper White Classic Weave ribbon through the holes punched at the top of the gift bag beginning at the top left, going in and out the holes around the top edge of the bag and exiting at the top right of the bag.  Tie the ribbon in a bow at the top front of the bag, snugging the top edges of the bag together.

Seven balloons were created to decorate the front of the gift bag:

Four pieces of Whisper White cardstock were stamped with the dotted balloon shape and the outline balloon images:

  1. Using Soft Sky ink for the dotted balloon image and the brush tip of the Soft Sky Stampin' Write Marker for the balloon outline image (excluding the "Hooray" word inside the outline)
  2. Using Berry Burst ink for the dotted balloon image and the brush tip of the Berry Burst Stampin' Write Marker for the balloon outline image (excluding the "Hooray" word inside the outline)
  3. Using Lemon Lime Twist ink for the dotted balloon image and the brush tip of the Lemon Lime Twist Stampin' Write Marker for the balloon outline image (excluding the "Hooray" word inside the outline)
  4. Using Powder Pink ink for the dotted balloon image and Berry Burst ink for the balloon outline image (this time including the "Hooray" word inside the outline)
  5. All of the balloons were punched with the smaller balloon side of the Balloon Bouquet punch
  6. A piece of Whisper White Baker's Twine was adhered behind the neck of each balloon using a Mini Glue Dot

The remaining three balloons were stamped with the dotted balloon shape and the outline balloon images:

  1. A piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock using Lemon Lime Twist ink for the dotted balloon image and the brush tip of the Lemon Lime Twist Stampin' Write Marker for the balloon outline image (excluding the "Hooray" word inside the outline)
  2. A piece of Soft Sky cardstock using Soft Sky ink for the dotted balloon image and the brush tip of the Soft Sky Stampin' Write Marker for the balloon outline image (excluding the "Hooray" word inside the outline)
  3. A piece of Powder Pink cardstock using Powder Pink ink for the dotted balloon image and the brush tip of the Berry Burst Stampin' Write Marker for the balloon outline image (excluding the "Hooray" word inside the outline)
  4. All of the balloons were punched with the smaller balloon side of the Balloon Bouquet punch
  5. A piece of Whisper White Baker's Twine was adhered behind the neck of each balloon using a Mini Glue Dot

Adhere all but one of the dotted balloons and the "Hooray" balloon in a "bouquet" on the upper half of the bag front using Mini Glue Dots allowing the balloon strings to hang down the center of the bag. Adhere the remaining two balloons with a Stampin' Dimensional, one on each side of the bouquet.

Stamp the "Happy Birthday" greeting on a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Punch the stamped image using the Everyday Label punch.  Mat the punched image with Powder Pink cardstock using the Everyday Label punch and the following process:

  1. Punch two pieces of Powder Pink cardstock with the Everyday Label punch
  2. Cut the rounded ends off the right and left sides of one of the punched pieces of cardstock and then cut the modified punched shape in half horizontally to create two long rectangles with notches at the top left and right and bottom left and right corners
  3. Apply adhesive along the horizontal cut edges and place the piece with the notches at the top left and right corners behind the stamped punched shape so that the top, left, and right edges of the Powder Pink cardstock is slightly above the top, left, and right edges of the stamped punched shape
  4. Place the piece with the notches at the bottom left and right corners behind the stamped punched shape so that the bottom, left, and right edges of the Powder Pink cardstock is slightly below the bottom, left, and right edges of the stamped punched shape
  5. Cut the second Powder Pink punched shape in half vertically
  6. For each Powder Pink half, cut the top and bottom notches from the shape in a horizontal line from the edge of the notch closest to the rounded end toward the cut line at the center
  7. Apply adhesive to each Powder Pink half along the vertical cut line.  Place the Powder Pink half with the rounded edge on the left behind the rounded left of the stamped punched image so that the rounded edge and the short vertical area to each side of the rounded edge extend slightly beyond the left side of the stamped punched image
  8. Place the Powder Pink half with the rounded edge on the right behind the rounded right of the stamped punched image so that the rounded edge and the short vertical area to each side of the rounded edge extend slightly beyond the right side of the stamped punched image

Adhere the greeting below the balloon bouquet using Stampin' Dimensionals placed behind each corner of the matted label making sure the balloon strings are tucked behind the center of the label.

With all the numbered instructions, you may think that this project might be challenging.  It's really very easy because the punches do all the work!
