Oh So Eclectic -- Oh, Hello Friend

Hi There!

Today's post provides the how-to's for creating one of the cards designed for the Inky Friends Suite Designs Blog Hop featuring 10 of the design suites from the 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  My post featured the Naturally Eclectic Suite shown on pages 132-133 of the catalog.  To see a line up of all the Stampin' Up! artists who participated in the hop, click here.  To begin the hop, click here.

The Naturally Eclectic Suite of products is filled with vivid colors and shapes that provide a wide range of possibililities for paper crafting projects.  I was initially drawn to the suite because of the patterns and colors in the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper.  In the beginning, I shied away from the stamp set because I have so many floral stamp sets already, but then I took a closer look at the Eclectic Layers Thinlits and realized that I could have some fun with all the fun shapes.  So I caved and purchased the bundle.  I'm so very glad I did!

My first project with the Naturally Eclectic Suite features a fun color combination of Lemon Lime Twist, Night of Navy, and Soft Sky.

This card begins with a card base of Lemon Lime Twist.  A panel of Soft Sky cardstock was randomly stamped with the solid and open circles stamps using Soft Sky ink.  The panel was then die cut with the Big Shot using the lattice thinlit die placed 1/2" from the top, left, and bottom sides of the Soft Sky panel.  A piece of Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper was adhered behind the Soft Sky panel so that it would appear through the lattice die cut.  The Soft Sky panel was adhered at the center of a slightly larger panel of Night of Navy cardstock.  A piece of Night of Navy Crinkle Seam Binding Ribbon was wrapped around the two panels and knotted on front with the knot slightly to the right of center and the bottom edge of the ribbon 1" above the bottom edge of the panels.  The panels were adhered at the center of the card front.

Pieces of the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper were die cut with the Big Shot to create the focal point:

  • Three pieces were die cut using the leaf framelit
  • One piece was die cut using the round flower framelit
  • One piece was die cut using the round flower thinlit

The three leaves were adhered at the right center of the Soft Sky panel with the bottom stems of the leaves together.  The round thinlit flower was adhered at the center of the round framelit flower and adhered over the bottom of the leaf stems using Stampin' Dimensionals.  Pearl Basic Jewels (3 mm) were adhered at the center of the flower.

The "Oh, Hello Friend" greeting was stamped on a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.  Banner tails were cut into the left side of the cardstock and the banner adhered to the cardfront with the top of the banner 1/2" below the top edge of the Night of Navy panel and the right side of the banner flush with the right edge of the Night of Navy panel.

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  A thin strip of Night of Navy cardstock was adhered behind the top edge of a strip of Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper and then adhered at the bottom of the liner with the left, bottom, and right edges of the paper strip flush with the left, bottom, and right edges of the liner.

OhSoEclectic_OhHelloFriend_Envelope

A piece of Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper was adhered to the envelope flap of the Medium Whisper White Envelope.  Paper Snips were used to trim the excess paper away from the envelope flap using the edges of the envelope flap as a guide.

I'll be back soon with the second card I created for the blog hop using additional elements from the Naturally Eclectic Suite.

Have a great day!
