This Little Piggy -- Hogs & Kisses

Hello!

Today's post provides the how-to's for creating one of the cards designed for the Stamp Review Crew Bonus Hop featuring the This Little Piggy stamp set.  To see a line up of all the Stampin' Up! artists who participated in the hop, click here.  To begin the hop, click here.

I was cleaning off my desk and my piggy cards slipped out of the stack of projects to post on my blog.  I'm so sorry that I haven't gotten these posted!  So we'll begin with the piggy covered in kisses.

This card begins with a card base of Old Olive cardstock.  A panel of Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper was matted with a slightly larger piece of Soft Suede cardstock.  A piece of Powder Pink cardstock was die cut with the Big Shot using the scalloped oval (2-1/2" x 3-1/2") from the Layering Ovals Framelits.  The scalloped oval was adhered to the Designer Series Paper at the center left (the top of the scalloped oval is 3/4" from the top of the Designer Series Paper and the left edge of the scalloped oval is 3/8" from the left edge of the Designer Series Paper).  A piece of Burlap ribbon was adhered across the center of the scalloped oval and the Designer Series Paper/Soft Suede mat with the ends of the ribbon adhered behind the Soft Suede mat.  The Designer Series Paper/Soft Suede mat were adhered at the center of the card front.  Three of the lightest color 4 mm Old Olive Glitter Enamel Dots were adhered in a row at the lower left front corner of the Designer Series Paper (the bottom of the dots are 3/8" above the bottom edge of the Designer Series Paper).

A piece of Watercolor Paper was stamped with the Hogs & Kisses piggy using Basic Black Archival ink.  The paper was spritzed with water and the piggy colored with inks and the Aquapainter:  Powder Pink for the pig body, Smoky Slate as an outline outside the pig body, Old Olive for the grass, and Soft Suede for the ground.  Note that the Powder Pink was used to cover the entire pig in a light wash and then more color was added to darken some areas of the pig and to create shading.

The piggy image was stamped on a Post-It Note so that the piggy's feet reside on the area that has repositionable adhesive on the back.  The inside of the piggy was cut out as shown below and placed over the watercolored pig (make sure the watercolor paper is completely dry).

The kisses stamp was randomly stamped over the pig body using Soft Suede ink.  The watercolor paper was die cut with the Big Shot using the oval shape (2-3/8" x 3-1/4") from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  The watercolored pig was adhered centered over the Powder Pink scalloped oval using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  A strip of Soft Suede cardstock was adhered behind the top edge of a strip of Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper so that 1/16" of the Soft Suede cardstock is visible.  A strip of Powder Pink cardstock was punched with the Decorative Ribbon Border punch and adhered behind the Soft Suede strip so that the scallop edge extends above the top edge of the Soft Suede strip.  These pieces were adhered along the bottom edge of the liner so that the left, bottom, and right edge of the strips are flush with the left, bottom, and right edges of the liner.

The "You Make Me Happy" sentiment, which is part of the dancing pig image, was inked with the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker and stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  The cardstock was matted with a slightly larger piece of Soft Suede cardstock and adhered at the upper center of the liner.

A piece of Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper was adhered to the flap of a Medium Very Vanilla Envelope.  The edges of the paper were trimmed to match the envelope flap using Paper Snips.

I'll be back soon with another of the cards made for the Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop featuring the This Little Piggy stamp set.  I had so much fun working with these piggies!
