Crafting Forever -- We Are Cut Out To Be Friends

Hi There!

We are climbing out from all the yard debris after Hurricane Irma and feeling very blessed to have only that to worry about.  So very many of my family members and fellow Floridians have been significantly impacted by this storm and my heart and prayers go out to all of them.  Now it's a matter of finishing the clean up and then putting the house back together now that we have power and water.  I was very grateful to have the generator and bottled water, but times like these make you understand how you take that air conditioning, hot shower, and flushing toilet for granted.

Today's post provides the how-to's for creating one of the cards designed for the Stamp Review Crew Bonus Hop featuring the Crafting Forever stamp set.  To see a line up of all the Stampin' Up! artists who participated in the hop, click here.  To begin the hop, click here.

I really like the 2017-2019 In Color Lemon Lime Twist.  I just love the bright and happy feel that this color gives me.  When I was looking at the images in the Crafting Forever stamp set, I was drawn to the Paper Snips because scissors are so very basic to the art of paper crafting and I love to fussy cut.  So I thought I'd combine the Lemon Lime Twist and the Paper Snips to see what happens.

This card begins with a card base of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.  A piece of Lemon Lime Twist patterned paper from the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack was cut to 2-1/2" x 3-3/4" and adhered to the lower half of a panel of Basic Gray cardstock cut slightly smaller than the card front.  The left, right, and bottom edges of the paper were adhered 1/8" from the left, right, and bottom edges of the Basic Gray panel.  A piece of Silver Metallic Edge ribbon was adhered across the top edge of the paper with the ends of the ribbon adhered at the back of the cardstock panel.  The panel was adhered at the center of the card front.  The "We Are Cut Out To Be Friends." sentiment, from the Crafting Forever stamp set, was stamped near the lower right corner of the paper using Basic Black Archival ink.

The scissors image was stamped on Silver Foil Sheets using Staz-On Jet Black ink.  [Note:  This item is retired from the Stampin' Up! Catalog, but I find it the best ink to use on metallic surfaces because it dries so quickly.  Using the regular Stampin' Up! inks would require heat setting with the Heat Tool on the low setting to keep from overheating and/or warping the metallic paper.]  Paper Snips were used to cut out the scissors and the scissors adhered to the paper just above and to the left of the sentiment using Mini Glue Dots.  The scissors image was stamped again on Basic Gray cardstock using Basic Black Archival ink, the handles cut out with Paper Snips, and the handles adhered to the scissors using Mini Glue Dots.

A piece of Silver Foil Sheets was used to die cut a label with the Big Shot using the Lots of Labels Framelits (1-3/4" x 2-7/8").  The label was adhered at the center of the open area of the Basic Gray cardstock (above the ribbon).

A group of Lemon Lime Twist roses was cut from the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack using Paper Snips and adhered over the label using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  A narrow strip of Basic Gray cardstock was adhered behind the upper edge of a piece of Lemon Lime Twist roses patterned paper and the combined strip adhered along the bottom edge of the liner.

Since I cut the group of roses for the card front from a corner of the roses patterned paper, there were parts of the image along the edges of the paper.  I cut these out, too, and adhered them along the top edge of the liner.  It's a bit of overkill, but I like to fussy cut and didn't want to throw the pretty roses away.

The envelope flap of the Medium Whisper White Envelope was covered with a piece of Lemon Lime Twist patterned paper.  Paper Snips were used to trim the paper to match the envelope flap.

Now it's back to putting things back to "normal" and getting ready for my stamp clubs this weekend.  Most everyone has returned to Florida and are looking for a creative escape to take their minds off all the craziness associated with the aftermath of these big storms.
