Wood Words -- Thanks A Bunch!

Hello!

It's been an exciting week in the Stampin' Up! world with the launch of the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog.  If you haven't seen it yet, please do!  There are so many great new products and some truly terrific ideas packed into this catalog.  I'm still finding new and intriguing things every time I flip through.  You can see the catalog by clicking on the picture of the catalog on my right sidebar or if you'd like a paper copy, please contact me by clicking on the Email Mickey button on the right sidebar.

I belong to the 3-2-1 Stamp Team, led by Catherine Harwood (she's my Stampin' Up! upline).  Being a part of this team has some great perks and one of the best is the opportunity to share ideas.  One of the many ways we do this is by swapping.  Today's post is my swap card for the May full card swap.  Our task for this swap was to use New Items from the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog.

WoodWords_LabelMePretty

I will say right up front that I struggled with this card for a week--I could not make it look anything like what I had envisioned.  [Sigh...]  I kept plugging away at it, though, as I had made a commitment to participate in the swap.  I'm still not sure about it, but I didn't want to fuss with it any longer as I was already nearly a week late in mailing the swaps.  [Deeper sigh...]  Now that I've looked at it for a couple of days it's growing on me.  This card features the 2017-2019 In Colors of Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist, and Tranquil Tide.

This card begins with a card base of Fresh Fig cardstock.  A panel of Glossy White cardstock (Hooray!! It's back!!) was randomly stamped with the floral spray image, from the Wood Words stamp set, using Versamark ink.  The inked areas were covered with Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder with the excess tapped back into the container [Tip:  swipe the Embossing Buddy over the glossy cardstock before stamping to ensure that the embossing powder sticks only to the inked areas of the cardstock].  Then the embossing powder was melted with the Heat Tool.  A Sponge Brayer was used to roll ink over the embossed glossy cardstock using Lemon Lime Twist ink [Tip:  for best results, 1. roll the brayer forward across the ink pad repeatedly to ensure the entire sponge roller is inked and 2. roll onto the cardstock from outside the edge of the paper using an angled motion continually moving the roller with an even pressure (if you've ever painted a wall with a roller, it's the same idea where you use a "W" or an "M" motion with the roller) and reinking the roller as necessary and continuing to roll over the paper until the color is evenly applied].  Use a clean paper towel to rub over the cardstock panel to remove the ink from the clear embossed areas to reveal the white cardstock underneath the embossing.

A piece of Fresh Fig cardstock was die cut with the Big Shot using the 2-3/8" circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  The circle was adhered near the lower right corner of the embossed panel with the right edge of the circle 1/2" from the right edge of the embossed panel and the bottom edge of the circle 5/8" from the bottom edge of the embossed panel.  A piece of Fresh Fig 1/2" Finely Woven ribbon was placed over the horizontal center of the Fresh Fig circle and across the embossed panel.  The ends of the ribbon were folded under and adhered behind the embossed panel.  A piece of 1/4" Copper Trim was placed along the horizontal center of the Fresh Fig ribbon with the ends of the trim folded under and adhered behind the embossed panel.  Copper Metallic Thread was wrapped around the widespread fingers of my left hand 4 times and adhered over the Fresh Fig circle, ribbon, and Copper Trim using Mini Glue Dots placed at the center of the circle/ribbon/trim.

The floral label image, from the Label Me Pretty stamp set, was stamped on a piece of Tranquil Tide cardstock using Tranquil Tide ink.  The image was punched from the cardstock using the Pretty Label punch and adhered across the horizontal center of the circle/ribbon/trim using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The distressed circle image, from the Wood Words stamp set, was stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Lemon Lime Twist ink.  The "thanks a bunch!" image, also from the Wood Words stamp set, was stamped at the center of the Lemon Lime Twist circle using Tranquil Tide ink.  The image was die cut with the Big Shot using the 1-3/8" circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  The die cut was adhered at the center of the punched label using Stampin' Dimensionals.

WoodWords_LabelMePretty_Liner

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  The floral spray image, from the Wood Words stamp set, was stamped across the bottom edge of the liner using Lemon Lime Twist ink.  The swirly line label outline image, from the Label Me Pretty stamp set, was stamped near the upper center of the liner using Tranquil Tide ink.  The "You're the Best" sentiment, also from the Label Me Pretty stamp set, was stamped at the center of the label image using Fresh Fig ink.

WoodWords_LabelMePretty_Envelope

The floral spray image, from the Wood Words stamp set, was randomly stamped across the flap of the Medium Whisper White Envelope using Lemon Lime Twist ink [Tip:  place a scrap piece of copy paper between the envelope flap and the back of the envelope to ensure that the image stamps only on the envelope flap].

I've received some beautiful swap cards in the mail this week from the 3-2-1 Stamp Team using a wide variety of great new items from the 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  Looking at these cards has me chomping at the bit to open up more of the new stuff that I've ordered and get my fingers inky.  I hope you'll find time to do the same this weekend.

That's a stamp set I haven't paid any attention to but will give a second look! I love those flowers. Your card turned out lovely! Thanks for all the helpful tips and good directions.

Very pretty! I appreciated reading all your details about how to make this card... Thank you very much! I love how you also stamped inside and on the envelope flap! I wondered if the card front was the new floral dsp and am delighted to now know what you'd used to make it, yourself! Great job; pretty card! TFS!
