Happy Birthday Gorgeous -- Linda's Birthday Card

Happy Friday!

It's been a crazy busy week this week and the rain is still coming down in torrents.  One of my jobs outside of Stampin' Up! is as a delivery driver; so I spend quite a bit of time on I-95 and US1 in four Eastern coastal counties of Florida.  Let me just say that after this week I could do with a little less highway and a whole lot less rain while driving on said highway.  I'm very grateful that it's Friday afternoon, the driving is finished for the week, and I'm in my stamp room where things are dry and stationary.

Today's post is a birthday card I made for my good friend, Linda.  She was a Stamp Club Host last weekend AND her birthday was the day after Stamp Club.  A pretty good weekend for LInda!

Linda's birthday card features the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set with the Lovely Words Thinlits (with a cameo appearance by the Milestone Moments stamp set).  This card begins with a card base of Powder Pink cardstock.  A piece of Powder Pink print paper from the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack was adhered at the center of a slightly larger panel of Fresh Fig cardstock.  A length of Fresh Fig 1/2" Finely Woven ribbon was adhered along the vertical center of the Designer Series Paper/cardstock with the ends of the ribbon folded to the back of the cardstock and adhered in place.  The Designer Series Paper/cardstock was adhered at the center of the card front.

A piece of Whisper White cardstock was stamped with the Classic Label outline image from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set using Powder Pink ink.  The "happy birthday" script image was stamped inside the outline image using Fresh Fig ink.  The stamped image was punched with the Classic Label punch and adhered at the center of a slightly larger piece of Fresh Fig cardstock.  The cardstock was cut with Paper Snips to create a border around the punched image.  The punched image/cardstock were adhered 5/8" from the top edge of the Designer Series Paper/cardstock using Stampin' Dimensionals placed at each end of the punched label.

This brings us to the die cut focal point of the card, featuring one of the Lovely Words Thinlits.  I think I must have die cut about seven versions of this thinlit before I finally hit upon the combination below.  What's really special about this set of thinlits is that they coordinate with the Layering Ovals, Layering Circles, and Sweet & Sassy Framelits so you can adjust the width of the frame around the center word to meet your needs.  For the "friend" thinlit on this card, I used the Layering Ovals and the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

The "a-ha" moment for me was when I realized that the "friend" thinlit fit inside one of the ovals from the Stitched Shapes Framelits (2-3/8" x 3-1/4").  THAT was the finished look I wanted for this focal point.  The great thing was that I could die cut them both with the Big Shot at the same time from the Powder Pink cardstock!  You can see how the two die cuts fit together below.  How cool is that??!!

A piece of Fresh Fig cardstock was die cut with the Big Shot using the scalloped edge oval (2-1/2" x 3-1/2"), from the Layering Ovals Framelits.  This die cut was used to mat the "friend" die cut using teeny, teeny, teeny tiny dots of Multipurpose Adhesive placed on the back of the "friend" die cut (yet another great use for the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets when I get them!). [Tip:  Place an empty acrylic "E" block on top of the two die cuts for a minute or two to ensure a good paper to paper meeting of adhesive.]  The "friend" die cuts were adhered at the bottom center of the card front with the bottom edge of the die cuts 1/2" above the bottom edge of the Designer Series Paper/cardstock using Stampin' Dimensionals.

A piece of Whisper White cardstock was stamped with the script "sweet" from the Milestone Moments stamp set using Fresh Fig ink.  The image was cut out with Paper Snips and adhered above the "friend" but just below the upper die cut border using Mini Glue Dots.

The card front was finished with a length of Fresh Fig 1/2" Finely Woven ribbon tied into a bow and adhered to the vertical ribbon between the punched label and the die cuts using Mini Glue Dots.

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  A thin strip of Fresh Fig cardstock was adhered behind the top edge of a strip of Powder Pink print from the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack and the two pieces adhered along the bottom edge of the liner.  The "you look gorgeous" sentiment, from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set, was stamped near the upper center of the liner using Fresh Fig ink.  The large and small solid flower images, also from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set, were stamped to the left of the sentiment using Powder Pink ink:  the large solid flower three times and the small solid flower three times.  The small and large detail flower images were stamped over their corresponding solid flower images using Fresh Fig ink.

A piece of Powder Pink print paper from the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack was adhered to the flap of the Medium Whisper White Envelope with the excess paper trimmed away using Paper Snips following the edge of the envelope flap.  The "It's Your Day!" sentiment, from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set, was stamped at the center of the envelope flap using Fresh Fig ink.

This card certainly emphasizes the amazing color and tool coordination that Stampin' Up! designs into their product line.  I just love that I can trust that the colors will be consistent between the papers, cardstocks, and inks.  AND I was seriously pleased with the coordination between the Lovely Words Thinlits, the Layering Ovals Framelits, and the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  Very cool, indeed!
