Thoughtful Banners -- Happy Father's Day

Hi There!

I'm in Colorado this week to attend my oldest grandson's graduation from High School.  Time certainly passes quickly--way too quickly.  Yesterday was graduation day for Zack in Colorado Springs where it was in the mid 70s.  Today, I'm in Denver visiting with my daughter and son-in-law and it's in the low to mid 30s and alternating between rain and snow.  Seriously?????  (When I left Florida on Tuesday it was in the 90s...)

There are only a couple weeks left for the Stampin' Up! 2016-2017 Annual Catalog and the Occasions Catalog.  The items in these catalogs that are not carrying over to the Stampin' Up! 2017-2018 Annual Catalog are part of the Retiring List.  Items on the Retiring List are disappearing fast, but there are still quite a few left to choose from.  You can see the most current information at the Stampin' Up! on-line store.  Just click on the Order Stampin' Up! Online button at the top right sidebar of this blog page, click on the Shop Now hot link on the menu bar, and then click on the Retiring List hot link on the left sidebar.

Today's post is one of the cards I created for the Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop featuring the Thoughtful Banners stamp set.  To see a line up of the Stampin' Up! Artists who participated in the hop, click here.  To begin the hop, click here.

For this card, I combined the Badges & Banners and Gorgeous Grunge stamp set with the Thoughtful Banners stamp set.  This card begins with a card base of Cajun Craze cardstock.  The card front was randomly stamped with the small splotches image from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (Retiring) using Early Espresso ink.  The edges of the card front were sponged with Early Espresso ink.  A piece of Moroccan Designer Series Paper (Retiring) was randomly stamped with the small splotches image using Early Espresso ink and the edges sponged with Early Espresso ink.  The paper was matted with a slightly larger piece of Emerald Envy cardstock, the edges of the cardstock sponged with Early Espresso ink, and adhered to the card front with the top, left, and right edges of the Emerald Envy mat 1/2" from the top, left, and right edges of the card front.  A strip of Early Espresso cardstock was randomly stamped with the small splotches image using Early Espresso ink, the edges sponged with Early Espresso ink, and the piece adhered across the horizontal center of the Moroccan Designer Series Paper.  A piece of 5/8" Burlap ribbon with the ends cut into banner tails was adhered across the Early Espresso strip using Mini Glue Dots.

The striped banner image, from the Badges & Banners stamp set, was stamped on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and punched out with the Best Badge punch.  The edges of the banner were sponged with Early Espresso ink and adhered at the center of the Burlap ribbon using Mini Glue Dots.  The outline banner image, from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set, was stamped on Delightful Dijon cardstock (Retiring) using Delightful Dijon ink (Retiring).  The word "Happy" and the phrase "Father's Day" were stamped onto the banner using Cajun Craze ink.  The banner was punched out using the Duet Banner punch, the edges of the banner sponged with Early Espresso ink, and the banner adhered over the striped badge using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The Classic Label outline image, from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set, was stamped on a piece of Emerald Envy cardstock using Emerald Envy ink.  The phrase, "I Love You", was stamped toward the left side of the outline using Early Espresso ink.  The outline image was punched out with the Classic Label punch and the right side of the punched image cut off with Paper Snips to the right of the "U" in "You".  The edges of the shortened label were sponged with Early Espresso ink.  The shortened label was adhered to the lower right edge of the Moroccan Designer Series Paper with the bottom of the label 1/4" from the bottom edge of the paper and the right edge of the banner aligned flush with the right edge of the paper.

Three gold sequins, from the Metallics Sequin Assortment (Retiring), were adhered across the card front using the Fine Tip Glue Pen.

ThoughtfulBanners_FathersDay_Liner

The liner for the inside sentiment area of the card was created with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.  A thin strip of Emerald Envy cardstock, the top edge sponged with Early Espresso ink, was adhered behind the top edge of a strip of Moroccan Designer Series Paper (the top edge of the paper sponged with Early Espresso ink).  The cardstock/paper piece was adhered along the bottom edge of the liner.

The small splotches image was stamped diagonally across the liner using Early Espresso ink.  The edges of the liner were sponged with Early Espresso ink and the liner adhered centered to the inside sentiment area of the card.

The "Enjoy Your Day" banner image, from the Badges & Banners stamp set, was stamped on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using Delightful Dijon ink.  The image was punched out with the Best Badge punch and the edges of the punched image sponged with Early Espresso ink.  The badge was adhered at the upper center of the liner.

ThoughtfulBanners_FathersDay_Envelope

A piece of Moroccan Designer Series Paper was randomly stamped with the small splotches image using Early Espresso ink.  The paper was adhered to the envelope flap of a Medium Very Vanilla Envelope.  The paper was trimmed with Paper Snips to match the edges of the envelope flap.  The edges of the envelope flap were sponged with Early Espresso ink.

Making Father's Day cards are a challenge for me as it brings back so many memories of my Dad.  It's been more than 5 years now that he's been gone and I miss him every single day.  However, there are still some Dads in my life that need to be recognized and celebrated.  I hope you'll take the time to recognize and celebrate those men who have had a significant impact on your life (or the women who fill a dual role) this Father's Day.
