Today's post features the Beautiful You stamp set from the Occasions Catalog.

BeautifulYou_HappyBirthday

When you see this stamp set in the Occasions Catalog and samples made using this stamp set on Pinterest, more often than not you'll see that the three women's images are watercolored.  While I love the soft look of watercoloring, I have a number of customers who just aren't fond of coloring images.  So I decided to use paper piecing to dress the images for my March Stamp Club meetings.

For this card, the pencil dress image was stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Basic Black Archival ink.  The image was also stamped on a piece of Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper (Retiring).  The dress and hat were cut out from the Designer Series Paper with Paper Snips and adhered to the image on the Whisper White cardstock.  The Whisper White cardstock was die cut with the Big Shot using the Layering Squares Framelits.  A piece of Night of Navy cardstock was die cut with the Big Shot using the slightly larger scalloped edge from the Layering Squares Framelits.  The Whisper White square was adhered at the center of the scalloped edged square.

The "Happy Birthday, Gorgeous" image was stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Basic Black Archival ink and die cut with the Big Shot using the Layering Ovals Framelits.  A piece of Night of Navy cardstock was die cut with the Big Shot using the slightly larger scalloped edge from the Layering Ovals Framelits.  The Whisper White oval was adhered at the center of the scalloped edged oval.

A strip of Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper was adhered along the left side of a piece of Whisper White cardstock, aligning the top, bottom and left edges of the Whisper White cardstock and the top, bottom, and left edges of the Designer Series Paper.  Run a couple of lines of Fast Fuse adhesive on top of the Whisper White cardstock along the right edge of the Designer Series Paper at the upper center of the cardstock.  The top, bottom, and right edges of a strip of Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate (gold side facing up) was lined up with the top, bottom, and right edges of the Whisper White cardstock and then pressed in place on the cardstock.  A length of Gold 5/8" Satin ribbon (Retiring) was placed vertically on top of the seam between the Designer Series Paper and the Acetate with the ends of the ribbon adhered behind the Whisper White cardstock.  The panel was adhered at the center of the card front of the Night of Navy card base.

The square focal point was adhered at the upper center of the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The greeting was adhered below the focal point image--with the top of the scallop oval 3/8" below the bottom of the scallop square--using Mini Glue Dots.

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  A strip of Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper was adhered along the top edge of the liner.  The small watercolor smudge was inked with Night of Navy ink, stamped off on a scrap piece of paper, and then stamped near the upper center of the liner.  The "Celebrate..." and "In Style!" images were stamped over the smudge image using Basic Black Archival ink.

BeautifulYou_HappyBirthday_Envelope

The pencil dress woman image was stamped at the lower left front corner of the Medium Whisper White Envelope using Basic Black Archival ink.  The large smudge image was stamped over the dress using Night of Navy ink.

Here is the card using the dancing woman image.  The inside sentiment area uses the "Live With Passion Laugh Out Loud Love Deeply" image stamped over the smudge.

And a third card with the woman walking in the rain image.  The inside sentiment area uses the "I'm Here For You" image, from the Sending Thoughts stamp set, stamped over the smudge.

The envelopes for these two cards feature a piece of Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper adhered to the envelope flap with the excess paper trimmed along the edges of the envelope flap with Paper Snips.

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I have LOTS of Designer Series Paper and LOTS of scraps of Designer Series Paper.  The great thing about paper piecing and this card design is that you have the opportunity to use up a bunch of those scraps.  So think about the stamp images that would lend themselves to this type of paper piecing and/or card design and make some cards!
