Hey, Chick!

Hello!

One of the most popular items from this year's Sale-A-Bration product offering is the Hey, Chick! stamp set.  I wasn't too sure about it when I first saw it as I'm not a big fan of chickens; but the more I looked at these ladies, the more I liked them.  They are just too fun!

For this card, I wanted to highlight the chicken with the crazy top feathers and decided to go back to the basics with the stamping.

HeyChick

This card begins with a card base of Early Espresso.  The card front was randomly stamped with the small splotches image from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set using Early Espresso ink.

Now for the chickens from the Hey, Chick! stamp set.  A panel of Tip Top Taupe was stamped with the hen looking down on the right and left sides of the panel and the hen looking over her shoulder to the right of center.  Note that the hen on the right has only her front half stamped on the panel.  The hens were stamped with Early Espresso ink.  A length of Peekaboo Peach 3/8" Ruched ribbon was wrapped around the lower part of the panel and tied in a knot on the right side.  The panel was adhered to the card front with the bottom edge of the panel 5/8" from the bottom edge of the card front.  The "hey, chick!" greeting was stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and punched with the Classic Label punch so that the greeting is the right side of the punch window.  The greeting was adhered to the Tip Top Taupe panel with the top edge of the punched greeting 3/8" from the top right edge of the panel and the remainder of the label cut off with Paper Snips flush with the right edge of the panel.

The chicken with the crazy top feathers was stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Staz-On Jet Black ink.  The hen was colored with Watercolor Pencils using the Blender Pen.  The colors used were Early Espresso, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, and Basic Gray (for shading).  The chicken was die cut with the Big Shot using the an oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  A slightly larger oval was die cut with the Big Shot from Peekaboo Peach cardstock using the Layering Ovals Framelits.  The stitched oval was adhered at the center of the Peekaboo Peach oval and adhered over the Tip Top Taupe panel with Stampin' Dimensionals with the right edge of the outer oval 1/2" from the left edge of the card front.

HeyChick_Liner

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  The small splotches image, from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set, was stamped across the bottom area of the liner using Early Espresso ink.  The egg image, from the Hey, Chick! stamp set, was stamped near the upper center of the liner using Staz-On Jet Black ink.  The ink was colored with Watercolor Pencils and the Blender Pen using Pumpkin Pie for the legs and Basic Gray for the shading on the egg.  The "you're a good egg!" sentiment was stamped below the egg using Early Espresso ink.

HeyChick_Envelope

The hen with the crazy top feathers was stamped at the lower left front corner of the Medium Whisper White Envelope using Staz-On Jet Black ink.  The hen was colored with Watercolor Pencils and the Blender Pen using Early Espresso, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, and Basic Gray (for shading).

This card was one of the projects for my February Stamp Clubs.  The stamp club members had fun coloring the chicken with the crazy top feathers to make her very unique for their own projects by making the top feathers and tail feathers a wide range and mix of colors.  There were some seriously funky chickens when the cards were finished!

You can earn this stamp set for FREE with a merchandise order of $50 USD, but only until the end of March.  After March 31st, these chickens are no longer available.  To see the complete line up of products you can earn for FREE during Sale-A-Bration, be sure to go to my on-line store.  This week, three more items were added:  a 6" x 6" stack of Glimmer Paper, a reverse words stamp set, and a medallion builder set.  They are awesome!
