That's The Tag -- Happy Birthday

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit!  I'm wrapping up from a weekend of stamp club meetings and the resulting paperwork but wanted to take a few minutes to share the how-to's for making one of the cards I featured during the Stampin' Addicts Occasions Catalog Blog Hop from last weekend.  If you haven't had a look at all the great ideas shared during the blog hop, you can still check them out by clicking here.

I love creating.  My favorite thing is to pick up a stamp set, pull out some Designer Series Paper and cardstock, grab some ink and embellishments and go to town.  I am immersed in my happy place.  However, from time to time I hit a creative road block:  my mind just goes blank.  That's when I pull out my go-to card design.  It's one of the first designs I learned, it's simple, and it has never failed me.  The best part?  I can create a card in minutes.  Definitely a winner!

This card begins with a panel of Mint Macaron cardstock.  A slightly smaller piece of Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper was cut into two pieces.  The first piece was adhered near the top edge of the Mint Macaron panel leaving the same amount of space between the left, right, and top edges of the Mint Macaron panel and the left, right, and top edges of the paper.  The second piece was flipped over and adhered near the bottom edge of the Mint Macaron panel.

A strip of Gold Foil sheets was adhered over the transition between the top and bottom pieces of the paper with the right and left sides of the strip flush with the edges of the paper.  A slightly smaller strip of Mint Macaron cardstock was adhered across the center of the Gold Foil sheets strip.  A Lace Doily was adhered at the center of the Mint Macaron strip.

The Mint Macaron panel was adhered at the center of the Tip Top Taupe card front.

The tag is composed of a piece of Whisper White cardstock die cut with the Big Shot using the solid tag framelit and the "sunburst" tag shape die cut from a piece of Gold Foil sheets using the "sunburst" thinlits.  Both of these tag shapes come from the Timeless Tags Thinlits.  Place teeny tiny dots of Multipurpose Liquid adhesive on the back of the Gold Foil "sunburst" and place at the center of the solid Whisper White tag making sure that the die cut hole is located between the rays of the "sunburst".  [I had some difficulty getting the two tags to adhere as the Gold Foil tag shape kept wanting to pop up before the adhesive could take.  So I placed an Acrylic "D" Block on top of the tags for a couple of minutes.]

Using Old Olive ink, the horizontal flower border image from the That's The Tag stamp set was stamped at the center of the Whisper White tag.  Using Sweet Sugarplum ink, the "Happy Birthday" greeting was stamped inside the horizontal flower border.  A piece of Gold 1/8" ribbon was threaded through the die cut hole.  The tag was adhered at the center of the Lace Doily using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  The dotted oval border image was stamped near the upper center of the liner using Sweet Sugarplum ink.  The wildflower image was stamped across the bottom left of the oval.  The "Hoping Your Day is Perfect" sentiment, from the Suite Sentiments stamp set, was stamped at the upper right of the oval using Mint Macaron ink.

The wildflower image was stamped at the lower left front of the Medium Whisper White Envelope.  The "Happy Birthday" greeting was stamped to the right of the wildflower image using Sweet Sugarplum ink.

While there are a lot of words in this blog post that may lead you to think that this card is more complicated to make than first described, once you make a card using this design, you can see that there are some real benefits to this design.  Especially when you use Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series Paper.  That's because Stampin' Up!'s designers ensure that the designs in each paper package or paper stack coordinates beautifully making it easy to use this card design with just a flip of the paper.
